We usually like the food at Barbacoa. However, we recently had an unpleasant experience there. We ordered a whole roasted chicken to go. It was burnt on the outside, and really dried out/overcooked, plus they forgot to pack the sauce that comes with it; wedge potatoes were also dried out and flavorless. It really wasnt enjoyable at all, so we just ate half of the chicken, and planned to ask them to replace the other half. We had guests, so we couldnt go all the way back there that night. The next day (a Monday), they were closed, so we went back on Tues. I called in advance, asking whether they could replace the half chicken because it wasnt edible. Silence for a moment from the guy on the other end, and then an annoyed "well you really should have brought it back that night." I explained I couldnt because we had guests, and this was the very next day that they were open. He still sounds really annoyed and curtly says "fine." I go there, container with the leftover half chicken in hand. The guy looks at me stone-faced, doesnt say a word as I hand it to him. He looks inside the container and says, "just so you know, this isnt burned. This is the way theyre cooked." I explain that no, thats not the case; I come here all the time, and the chicken is usually terrific and moist--this time, its really dried out and inedible. He gives me an annoyed "fine." I say "I dont know why you are giving me attitude. I paid $40 for a meal; I am not trying to scam you. I just want what I paid for." Then he yells back at me "How am I giving you attitude? Im replacing it, arent I?" There was no "Sorry you didnt enjoy the food, and that you had to come back." At the end, he replaced it with a whole chicken. I politely offered to pay for the extra half chicken (I said, "thank you, but please let me pay for the extra half; after all, we did eat that.") Then he sounds really irritated again and says "would you just relax." I have never been treated so rudely by a restaurant. I will not go back there again.

This review is based upon several experiences over the course of 3 years. #1: Approximately 60% of the time, our takeout orders have been incorrect. And I dont mean something silly like there is coleslaw on a sandwich when I asked for it without - I mean items totally wrong. In one case, we were given someone elses order completely. This was after the employee read off the items I had ordered, including my name as she handed me the bag. If this was an isolated incident I would understand - mistakes happen, but this is an epidemic with this place. If you order from them (which I dont recommend), check every item before you leave. #2: Food quality is average at best. I make better bbq in my electric smoker in my garage. #3: Get a deep fryer - nobody likes baked potato wedges over fries - what is the issue with getting a deep fryer? Take potatoes off the menu until you do. Stick with true bbq sides - which dont include potatoes unless they are mashed. #4. Way over priced considering above limitations. $12-$13 for an a la cart sandwich??? Make it $10.99 for a sandwich and a side and youll be more in the ballpark for the level of quality. #5: It is offensive to call this Peruvian style. It isnt even close. It is giving Peruvian pollo a la brasa a bad name. If you want Peruvian - go 10 minutes away to Sardis on City Line Avenue. It will be worth your while.

On Friday we ordered pickup and the food was far from satisfactory! The pulled pork tasted like it had been in the refrigerator and had very little flavoring (it was not fresh), also we were shorted 4 ounces on the $4.99 size coleslaw and it too tasted old (not good). I do not understand the "toast" with the pulled pork and the brisket??? I our house it just gets thrown out and we are not fans of wasted food. We also do not buy or eat white bread. All in all a most unsatisfactory experience - one that we do not want to repeat. The last time we did pickup you were challenged on the small portion of cole slaw in the container and handed over another 1/2 size - this time we did not catch it. So disappointing as we were so excited to finally have a barbecue place close by. I would give you a thumbs down on the quality of the food.

Great food, but lacking the proper "feel". While we had an amazing Chipotle BBQ pork ribeye and pulled pork with Wasabi sauce, we definitely felt completely abandoned the entire time. 10 minutes after the manager personally seated us, no one came to ask even for the drink order. Then he finally stopped by and said: "Oh, Im sorry, I didnt see you sit down." Throughout the visit it was hard to flag down the waitress in a half full restaurant and even when she was at our table, she was talking to the wall, or leaving before she finished her sentence. Kind of an odd and detached feeling... Well give it another try sometime, but this is something well remember for a while...

This was my second visit. Chicken was moist and very nicely seasoned ; brisket was first rate, coleslaw was delicious as was the Bar B Q sauce. We dined outside with 2 kids ( 8 and 10 years old ) . They devoured everything !!! Esp the potato wedges. Restaurant provided a citronella candle but I would have preferred some clip on insect repellents attached to the pole holding up the umbrella. Mac & cheese was bland but the waitress was very attentive. They need to go back to CORN pudding not the CORNBREAD pudding they currently have on the menu. If you don;t like outdoor dining , be sure to make a reservation. yes, I would go back.

Man, really not enough good here to account for the cost and hype. The "egg roll" was some dry chicken in a fried shell. Tiny little bit of chili sauce. $6.99! Not a good first impression. Side of Mac and cheese (see pic) was tiny. Could have been from a blue box. Cost - $5.99. Not a good second impression. OK, the sandwich will save the day. Nope. Round poboy? The definition of a poboy is a long sub-style roll, plus some tasty food. OK, minor nit. More important was the mediocrity of the poboy. Brisket was overly greasy, the sauce tasted like it was out of a McCormicks bottle. Blech. No repeat visit necessary.

Delightful BBQ joint with a fun, down home, backyard BBQ staff! The food was delicious and its byob so you can dom your own pairings. Theres plenty of big play food options to share and take home plenty of leftovers. I had the smoked wings with a hot sauce dip, which was delicious! Definitely a great start your night out place and fun for groups.

The food here is fantastic! Every foodies dream! We have been here twice in the last month. Even in the middle of a heat wave, with the fans blasting/sweat running down our faces, the food was TOTALLY worth it!!! The owner is always pleasant and the service is excellent! Make sure you try the corn bread pudding, ribs, and brisket!!!
