This was my first visit to the Riverview after wanting to try it for so long. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. My husband and I made a reservation on Sunday, 08/07/11 for 6:45pm. We got there a little before our reservation and there were only three people in front of us, but it took until 7pm to speak to the host to get checked in. First of all, Ive decided that it is pointless to make a reservation at this place. In our case, we made a reservation hours in advance but an actual table was not reserved for us. We were taken to the bar area and were told if a table opened up they would let us know... When we were seated at the bar area we were placed in the waiters walkway and in very uncomfortable chairs. About 15-20 minutes after being seated a bar waiter came to our table and asked if wed like anything to eat or drink. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was okay, weve had better from other places. After another 25 minutes of waiting we decided that we should just order dinner on the bar side since our reserved table looked like it was not going to be available. While waiting around we noticed that all of the tables had not been cleared off for new customers. We spotted a table closer to the river, and were hoping that someone would clear it off so that we could snatch it up (it also had comfy looking seats). After realizing no one was going to clear off the tables, I asked the waiter if we could move over to the table (I pointed to which one) closer to the river and he said that was fine. At this point I assumed that he would clear off the table for us, but no, we had to clean up another customers mess with dirty plates, napkins, and all... eww. We sat down and felt more comfortable not being in the waiters walkway and being in nicer seats. The only issue I had with the table is that the table was sticky, so sticky to the point that my sweater stuck to the table when I put my arms on it. We got a hold of a waitress and placed an order off of the dinner menu. My husband ordered the Seafood Tower and I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Bistro (cooked medium). When the food came out it looked beautiful and I was thinking to myself, okay now this was worth the long wait - but I quickly found that it wasnt. My steak was so overcooked that I could hardly cut into it and it was burnt. There was absolutely no pink in my steak, definitely not cooked medium like I requested. I looked around for a waiter/waitress and could not see anyone. I had to walk up to the front of the restaurant until I found someone and asked for my steak to be redone. The staff was very polite and sweet about the issue. After another long wait I finally received my steak, by this time my husband had finished his dish and ended up ordering a drink so that he had something to do while I ate my dinner. Sadly, this time the steak was rare and the bacon was not cooked. At this point I was so hungry that I just didnt care and pulled the raw bacon off and just ate the meat around the center. By the time I received my second steak it was 8:30pm, quite a long wait for dinner! My husbands dish was excellent and I found myself wishing I would have ordered what we ordered. By the time we paid and left it was a few minutes before 9pm - This was a very long wait. I understand waiting for good food, but the time that we spent waiting was waiting on the service. I expected an upscale experience and I did not receive that at all. I just cant imagine paying a fine dining price for a non fine dining experience... I want to give this place another try, maybe Ill try going in on a Saturday? Im going to leave this review open and hope to come back to it when Ive tried this place one more time.

When going to Riverview, please watch for your personal belongings. I would advise not to bring with you anything you consider to be invaluable in the first place simply because Riverview is not a safe place and here is why. I am a graduate student at Portland State University pursuing my masters degree in history. As I become close to graduation, I decided to commit to school more than to work. I, therefore, was living on a tight budget. It happened I dropped my iPhone 5, which I really liked. It was in great condition, like brand new. The utter screen was damaged as a result. It was Friday.I decided to work during the weekend in order to generate enough money to repair it. As I was searching Craigslist, the gig section, on the evening of Saturday June 04, 2016, I came cross an ad posted by Riverview looking for a dishwasher to help them the following day, that is, Sunday. I responded to the posing, introduced myself, and expressed my interest in dong the job. I included my personal contact information in my response. Riverview responded to my email and asked I show up Sunday at 2pm. On Sunday, June 05, 2016, I went to Riverview and appeared on time. I served as a dishwasher from 2:00pm until 10:30pm. When I returned home, I realized I left my backpack behind at Riverview, in the basement. I called Ryan, the chef, and asked for my backpack. I explained that my backpack was of importance to me. The backpack itself was a birthday gift from my ex-wife. My IPhone 5 which contained important information was in the backpack . Even though the outer screen of this phone was damaged, the phone works just fine. I was planning on replacing the screen once I get paid. There were a t-shirt and paints ( which I found on sale at Cap store) in the backpack. Ryan said he searched for the backpack but he could not find it. He stated he would keep looking for it and would contact me soon. He never did. A couple of days later, I called Riverview and reiterated my request to get my backpack back. I was assured someone would contact me to follow up on my request. Unfortunately, no one contacted me. Two weeks latter, I sent an email to the management of the restaurant regarding my backpack. I also contacted their page on Facebook. I have not received any update concerning my belongings up date! There was a lack of both communication and responsibility

What a wonderful dining experience! Well lit, open & spacious. Lots of modern art from local talent throughout, and an unparalleled view of the Sandy river. Our group was big enough to be able to sample several dishes, so heres my take on what we tried. Fresh & homemade demi loaves of bread come to the table to let you know youre about to begin a delightful culinary experience. The pork loin chop was tender and succulent, seasoned well and just the right amount of sauce. Silky pillows of utternut squash ravioli in a delightfully fresh pesto with plump little Roma tomatoes. Bite sized pieces of prime rib are a wonderful adaptation in this "not so" Sheppards pie. Perfectly cooked pasta in a fresh & creamy Alfredo would be worth noting alone, then top the bowl with prawns sauteed in garlic & butter and a full claw and knuckle of fresh crab. Oh snap son! How do you finish this up, you say? I think a couple of desserts to share would do nicely. Light & fluffy whipped cream blanketing fresh local berries in a smooth & creamy mousse was almost sinfully simple. We choose to pair that with a creme brulee that had the perfect crack & custard that wanted to reach out & slap my granny. Just when we thought we should probably pack up & clear out, a surprise from the kitchen. A just made elephant ear, complete with a scoop of vanilla ice cream & fresh berry sauce was better than many a carnival treat. Well worth a visit. Come hungry to enjoy some of east countys best northwest fusion fine dining. I know well be back.
