Hidden on the Eastside of Portland is this little Jade!!! Vegan Chinese food that is very yummy. The staff is friendly and are always ready to meet your needs and requests. It is very clean and spacious inside the restaurant and there is Christian Instrumental music playing in the background. The exterior is very clean and a huge improvement over the previous tenants. My favorites so far are the Beef Chow Fun and Lemon Chicken. The Salt and Pepper Squid wasnt bad either. Have tried numerous dishes with friends and family and have not been disappointed. Price is a little high, but the portions are quite large. The beverages are limited as there are no carbonated, artificially flavored sodas, they do have juice and teas. This restaurant is like an answer to prayer. I used to have to go downtown or closer into Portland Metro to experience some good vegan options and with traffic the way it is now, it took effort. Now, with this little Jade so close it is the answer for people who enjoy vegan food but didnt want to drive into town. Thank You owners of Yuan Su!!!

I miss Ye Olde Vegetarian house; things just havent been right in my life without veggie fish with hot bean sauce. ...but wait! Whats that in the distance? God, is that you? No. Its Yuan Su. I think most veggie folk have a meaty thing they feel nostalgic for. For me, Ive been a veggie human for 11 years, and sometimes all I friggen want is a greasy, American Chinese combo plate. You know... pork fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, an egg roll. ...enter Yuan Su. The place was spotless, service was friendly and quick, and I ate my leftovers almost immediately upon arriving home. Their menu is anything you want from a regular American Chinese joint, but all vegetarian. I nearly flung my head into outer space when I read the menu.

My husband is trying to go back to a mostly vegetarian diet. So we decided for our "Date" to try this place out. It was superb! First off the waitress was kind and helpful. Had good vibes when walking in the door. My husband was going to order to go, but then he saw they had booth seating, a bonus because it was at the window. Since I dont eat pork or shellfish this was the perfect restraunt for me. I could eat anything on the menu. We came at the end of the lunch hour. Our food was fresh and perfect! I think this place would be a terrific place to hold a party. Especially for those who enjoy Non Alcoholic Parties. They even have wheel chair ramp and bathroom stall. Plenty of parking available too.

I am so happy that Yuan Su Vegetarian came to my neighborhood! This area is lacking in vegan restaurants as many of them are downtown or in North Portland. The food here is absolutely delicious. The service is quick and friendly and its amazing that the owners are vegan themselves. Its so great to be able to order anything off of the menu instead of always relying on veggies and plain rice. I took my (meat loving) brother and mom and they both loved the food and didnt notice a difference in the taste of the meat. I cant recommend this place highly enough whether youre vegan, meat-eating, vegetarian, etc. Wonderful food, awesome service, and great price!

I honestly dont understand how this place has any 5 star reviews. I really wanted to like it but everything from the food to the service is sub par at best. The food was oily and bland. My pot stickers tasted like water and grease. The fried pork was rock hard and the sweet and sour sauce was coagulated and solid. Their meat substitutes were spongy. All in all it just wasnt good in the slightest. On top of the inedible food, The servers werent tending to their own tables so there were a few instances where I was asked the same questions by another server after I had already been helped.

Really great food, and a large variety of items you dont see other places. I couldnt even tell it was vegan so I think meat eaters would be happy here too! The tea is also super good and we got some free on request. This was our second time and we had veggie chicken with cashews, sautéed string beans (spicy) and house fried rice. It was all really good but our favorite was the string beans! Last time we were here everybody had these. We will dream of them until next time! Extremely friendly service, and a ramp out front for disabled customers.

My toddler son and I dropped by to pick up some lunch. The woman who helped us was friendly and welcoming. She immediately gave my son a fortune cookie which won him over immediately. Inside it is spacious and clean. The booth we sat in was quite comfy. My husband and I are not vegetarians but, we thoroughly enjoyed the fresh tasty food. My son loved the potsticker he snacked on during the ride home. Cant wait to go back and eat there! Also its quite an extensive menu. Im excited to try more dishes.

I really wanted to like this place. The menu looked interesting and we are always on the lookout for vegetarian restaurants. The Homestyle Beancurd was silken tofu in a super bland shot sauce based sauce and--incomprehensibly!--FROZEN VEGETABLES! I cannot think of a time where a restaurant served me frozen vegetables unless were talking about the roadside greasy spoons my parents liked way back when. The Chow Fun was good, but Im not paying good money for frozen vegetables.

I am not vegetarian, but I went here because it was recommended to me as "Chinese food that actually makes you feel good after eating." They were right! Not only that, but it was Delicious. Every dish had everyone at the table mmmm-ing at every bite. The fake-chicken was better than some real-chicken! Also, really yummy tea. It was some sort of malty, toasty oolong.... Oh, and excellent service. So friendly and accomadating and fast!

My meat-eating sister suggested we try this new place which is near her home because she knows that I am trying to support vegan establishments. We ordered three appetizers (pot stickers, spring rolls, and fried shrimp) all of which were absolutely delicious, and two entrees which were both very good. My sister enjoyed it also and we will definitely be back regularly! VEGANS PLEASE SUPPORT VEGAN BUSINESSES!

This is our new favorite restaurant! The food is delicious, and the service is gracious. The fact that its 100% veggie means I dont have to worry about hidden animal product. The "beef" and broccoli, the General Tsos "chicken," the crispy tofu and crispy taro are some of our favorites. Please try this place. We need to be sure they stay in business in this tough economic environment for restaurants.

Awesome vegan Chinese fare. Growing up eating a lot of Chinese, I can tell that this place is on the more authentic side. Their salt and pepper squid is basically lightly battered tofu but the seasoning is spot on. We saw "mayo" on the menu and asked about it. They brought a vegan "just mayo" out of the kitchen to reassure us which we were excited to see. I wish I lived closer...

I have looked longingly at my bfs General Tsos chicken (real chicken) for long enough! This place has General Tsos "chicken" that is so delicious that he happily goes here with me. Its clean and friendly, the portions are large, and the food is really great. So happy I can get good vegan Chinese food out here in deep SE!
