This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Portland, Ive been loyal since I first happened in 3 years ago. I bring out of town guests here and they bring up how great it was long after their visits. The food is always outstanding, the staff is always friendly and fast, and its always clean and inviting. Its Szechuan regional cuisine, so if its your first time in, try ordering something youve never seen on a menu before. What we come back for and crave: The spicy hand shaved noodles are my all time favorite, they have a great flavor and heat and the noodle texture is always perfect. The twice cooked pork belly is also outstanding. For appetizers, we never make it out of here without an order of the Shanghai dumplings (a soupy dumpling that bursts with this amazing gingery pork bone broth when you bite into it) and the wontons in chili oil (and theyre in more than just chili oil, its a dark soy sauce base with garlic and greens). Other things Ive tried over the years that were winners- both the honey walnut prawns and tofu, kung pao, chicken with spicy garlic sauce (note, this is a pile of fried boneless chicken with a big bowl of sauce, not a stir fry), chong qing hot chicken, shredded pork with bean curd, ants on a tree, green onion pancakes, several of the cold dishes, the westlake soup... probably more but I dont have the menu in front of me. Anyway, seriously try this place, its delicious.

ok, i am giving this a high rating...even though it wasnt a 4 star experiance. i will explain. i had Mu shu pork...which was FANTASTIC. this is the real deal MuShu it was fresh and very well cooked. I had the Shanghi Dumplings...again Excellent! very very good. that leads me to the Mandarin fried chicken. the flavor was excellent..the problem was...i being a chef can tell the grease used to fry the chicken was OLD. when the grease gets old..it leaves anything fried in it with a bitter aftertaste. SO...had this been fried in Fresh grease..it would have been fantastic. great service..and very clean in side.

As a native of the Sichuan Province, this is the most genuine cuisine that Ive had in the Portland Metro area (its better than Taste of Sichuan in my opinion). Most of the dishes are pretty decent, but order from the Chefs Special Menu and you pretty much cant go wrong. The service staff is generally friendly, and the food comes out quickly. I think the prices are more than reasonable for the quality of food that you receive. Of course its a step down from what you get in bigger cities like Seattle, but for Portland, this is my go-to Sichuan restaurant.

I went to this restaurant today with a group of friends. Everyone was served at my table, not all at once, but I did not get my food. I finally had to call a server to let her know that I had not been served. She brought out my food. It was barely warm. There was a piece of steamed broccoli that was cold. I had her bring a box because the rest of my group was almost done eating by the time I received my food. I generally tip, but in this case I did not. The parking is also very poor. We will not go back to this restaurant.

For the price point, the food was great! The closest Ive come to truly authentic Chinese was via a trip to Southeast Asia, and the hand-shaven noodles on This places menu totally measured up to what I had at Chinese places over there. Its not going to be your Panda Express Chinese menu, but its way better than that, anyway. Fresh, clean, live seafood in waiting tanks, good service. Hot loose leaf green tea comes with all orders. We had the shaved noodles and string bean, delicious!

Arrived just before 8pm. Ordered 5 dishes. At 9:15 none had arrived. Zero. Zip. Nada. Two tables arriving after us were served multiple (3+) items each. One thing I ordered was an appetizer, some pickled cucumbers. Put them on a dish and bring them out. Being Chinese I was really looking forward to this place. And I typically really enjoy dinner as a rule. Food may be delicious, but we left without finding out. Should be a minus rating as I only got older while waiting.

This was the worst greasiest food that I have had in ages! I have tried it twice now hoping it would be better the second time and it was so bad I would tell you not to ever go there. The prices were extremely high and the food was inedible. I have thought about posting negative results on other places in the past but have never done it but this restaurant is so bad I have to do it and warn you not go there.

If possible would give it 4.5 stars solely because the food is inconsistent. Sometimes its the best Chinese stir frys and dishes in the city, and every once in a while its only "okay". Usually very very good though, and maybe its only inconsistent because we order from there (or eat in) pretty often. Highly recommend regardless of its occasional inconsistency!!

Shanghai dumplings are excellent-times-excellent here. Not sure how that counts as Szechuan? Not complaining, though. Nice amount of Szechuan pepper in the Szechuan cold noodles. Prickly but not overwhelming. So nice. Food comes quickly, and after 20+ meals Ive never been disappointed. A constant in my crews rotation.

s上次去吃过一次,觉得挺好,还推荐别人去吃。但是这次去,一样的菜,跟上次的差太多了。所以去那边吃饭,味道如何完全跟你的运气有关。以后再也不会去了。

Best Chinese food weve had in Portland. Fresh, flavorful, and bountiful (ended up with two full meals considering leftovers). Setting is a little funky (e.g. mismatched furniture, staff were cutting veggies next to cashier stand, dishes were chipped, etc). But the quality of the food made up for the quirks.

We paid $106.81 for hot-pot for 4 people and didnt know this price including 15% gratitude. So we paid the extra tips although the service was terrible. Even the food quality with strong MSG taste was not worthy to pay for more than $100. Thats ripped off. I wouldnt go back here again.

First, Im part Chinese. Secondly, Im also a very tough judge. This is the best, most consistent, Szechuan in Portland Area. My personal faves are the Cold Noodle and Pork Belly with Garlic. The chili must be made here, and its always GREAT.

Delicious food! However, the wait and slow service are the only downfall. It is fairly large and holds a good amount of people, but needs more staff at one time rather than a few running around like crazy. Still great food though!

Get #167, spicy dried string beans! Service is variable, but they usually try to be friendly. The cumin lamb is awesome, hand shaved noodles are amazing, and they use real Szechuan peppercorns in a lot of dishes.

We go here all the time and absolutely love it. Its real Chinese food made by real Chinese people. Not some cheap American imitation stuff. Definitely recommend the Mongolian beef and hand shaved noodles!

The food here is fantastic. We have eaten at many, many different Chinese restaurants in the Portland area, and this is by far the best. Ive sent my friends there, and all of them have loved it too!

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Portland. Hands down. I rarely find food like this in a restaurant. One downside, the atmosphere could be a bit sharper. Outside of that, its near perfect!

5stars for the food, its delicious. But they DRASTICALLY need to work on their service. The servers are always scrambling, it seems like they would benefit greatly from some support staff.
