I can see why the locals favor this place. As a visitor? You always roll the dice on food establishments. This one was a lucky roll (That also had 800+ people saying something nice about the place lol) and Im more than happy to share my outcome of eating there. Be prepared to wait (Well worth it!) In line for Roughly ten minutes. Thats alright though because itll give you more than enough time to figure out what you want - Speaking of that! The prices of things are Wonderful. Cheap prices with an outrageous taste (You usually spend upwards of 20$ Anywhere on Anything these days anyway. Might as well spend it here and Actually feel good about spending said money!). Everyones moving and serving so if you like a busy But friendly atmosphere? This is one of them. The staff are great and the cooks are Heaven sent. I Highly recommend the Carnitas tacos.. 4 of them just to start. Oh! The drinks? Even better, you wont be disappointed And its just as cheap as the food (More or less!). Just go here. Theres a reason why theres So many people going here to eat. Go. Now.

The food is good, the place is clean, and the people working here are SUPER friendly. They always have a couple of beers on tap and a few canned/bottled beers too. Their cocktails and margaritas, though, are unique and tasty. I would give a higher rating here, if the review was based solely on the food and staff. However, this is a Portland restaurant that offers good food - Por que no is small compared to the size of the crowd that tries to cram into it. The result is 5-20 minute wait in line outside, limited seating, and a very stressful dining experience (think watching your elbows while you eat to avoid passing waitstaff). And to be fair, I still go here pretty often with my girlfriend. Its a young and vibrant atmosphere with good food. I just have to be prepared for the full Por Que No customer hustle.

I love this place. Of course, Mississippi Ave. holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite parts of Portland, but even then Hawthorne location is yummy. I always have a hard time finding parking- so hit this place if youre planning on wandering the shops of Miss. Ave. I think of it like my shopping mall. Lots of local shops, perfect spot to find a gift, and great lunch food...but I digress. I love their tacos- love love love them. Their camarones are never rubbery, and the Bryans Bowl with carne asada is to. die. for. End the meal with a Mexican wedding cookie (or two, why not?) or a delicious horchata cupcake. You wont be sad. Good food, good service, and pickled carrots on the salsa bar. Doesnt get any better than that!

Love me some Por Que No. The Brians bowl on the menu is hands down my favorite thing on the menu. I really enjoy the tacos at this place and the cheese quesadilla believe it or not is more than just a plain boring menu item. I leave here full and satisified without feeling greased down like some mexican food can leave me feeling like. The line here is long for a reason, but so worth it. And I love how they offer you a drink while your waiting in line, makes waiting much more enjoyable. Speaking of drinks....The michelada is amazing. I love a good michelada, Por Que No does it right. It definitely is my favorite michelada around. Their hot sauce selection is always appreciated. See you soon Por Que No, have a michelada waiting for me :-)

Its worth the wait (sometimes the line is out the door and down the street!). Authentic and tasty, you dont want to just get one taco! Try a combination of scrumptious meats and seafood expertly assembled on a small but delicious corn tortilla. Priced at a reasonable $ 3-5 per taco- you can afford to try different ones. I have had the ceviche a few times, sometimes it can be quite salty and acidic so I guess it depends on the day. The chips are homemade and are a good snack to go with your tacos. They serve Coke in a glass bottle, which is cool but I would recommend trying the Horchata or the Sangria, both are thirst quenching and pairs great with the spicy flavors of the food.

Get the super burrito for only $1 more than the regular. My friend liked my chicken more than his carnitas burrito but you cant go wrong either way.The chicken is super flavorful and plentiful. Theres hardly any rice filler but the star is the burrito wrap. It has amazing elasticity, its chewy, & it didnt break at any point of my meal. I was so impressed at how it stayed together The guava, salsa, and pic DE Gallo is self service. The guava is pretty spicy and the pic was super on point. Dont try to eat the whole burrito baby in one sitting like I did. Im still full the next day. They have tinfoil on the counters so you can wrap up leftovers for later..

This is a great little spot for good ol tacos. Judging by the line Im pretty sure most of the locals know about this spot. It looks tiny but they manage to fit a lot of people inside quite comfortably. I like my lengue (tongue) tacos and was pleased to see they had them on the menu and they were delicious, I also had the shrimp taco (calamari was sold out), and the carne asada taco. Plenty of food for a guy like me. Plan on a little bit of a wait (depending on time of day of course) we were there on a Thursday afternoon and the line wasnt bad at all. Im from Utah and my sister showed us to this little joint and it was delicious

Por Que No is one of my very favorite places and always feels like a treat. They have best chips/salsa/guac on the planet. Their margaritas are the very best. I love the fish tacos, but Ive never had a meal I didnt love. Fun/friendly vibe with great service. The lines can be long, but they are worth it. As a mama, I will note that its not the most kid friendly. The one time I took my kiddos when they were young it took way too long in line and felt very hectic/cramped. Hence why I usually go as a treat without my kiddos. :-) Peace, Darcy Rose @DarcysUtopia @YippieChicks

A favorite of mine, each taco is a flavor of its own, something I have a hard time finding at other taco locations. I really enjoy the atmosphere and crowd that is there. The staff is friendly and always try to help you find a table when it is busier. The house made salsas are excellent and I (being a fan of spicier dishes) enjoy their habenaro sauce a lot. The drinks are also excellent, I really enjoy the margaritas and recommend them if you havent had them before. They are strong so consider after dinner having some ice cream up the street at Ruby Jewels.

This is one of Portlands great cheap eats establishments, and North Portland is lucky to have this place as an option. The food is excellent for the price, and it is not uncommon to see a line out the door, with hungry masses huddled together enduring Portlands drizzly weather . The seating inside is a little cramped, and I find the seating rules a little inconvenient and annoying. The service is ok, but not always friendly and welcoming. The food is simple, rustic, and healthy, and the food is also priced very well. Check it out and enjoy!
