Twelve years in the restaurant and bar industry and Ive never been so frusted. This place may be great for the beer but the food is sub-sub par bar grub with an attempt to appease Portland Foodies while also slapping too high of a sticker price on it. Our night started out with a large party of 7 people, 2 of which were late arriving - yes, this can cause frustration to waitstaff. Upon ordering our meal (it did take a while to get everyone to settle), four burgers were ordered and requested at different temperatures with a few modifications, all of which Brittney (our server) assured us "sounded great" and were "no problem." Mind you, their burger menu is comprised of many organic, grass-fed beef options so we were looking forward to juicy, seared burgers weighing in at 1/3 lb each, or, in the case of the Maple Bacon Heart Attack (or whatever it was called), 1/2 lb. Fast forward to receiving our food: All of their burgers are cooked well done. Wait. Then why was it "no problem" to order them mid-rare and rare for those of us wanting to capitalize on the flavor of specialty beef? Oh, because she forgot to tell us about how "all the burgers are cooked at the same temp to ensure proper health code regulations"... AFTER we ordered. Do you see our confusion here? Fifteen minutes later (not the industry standard 2-minute check-back time) she asks how everything is doing. My fiancee, having had a long day and not being able to choke down her well-done patty, orders something to replace her Burger King-worthy arrangement. Brittney, after smiling to our faces and quickly scampering off, rolls her eyes unbeknownst to me observing her. God forbid she misrepresent her establisments menu and then need to make up for it. Meanwhile, everyone else is finishing their food and steadily drinking their water and beer down. Empty plates and cups quickly fill the table and the party is starting to get thirsty to no avail. No one comes to bring water until I flag someone down. No manager is ever seen throughout our stay, including to ensure that we were happy with the final result, a gyro that my lady was able to stomach. End result: my fiancee and I are pissed but fed, the bill had BOTH the omitted/overcooked burger and gyro removed. I gave 2 stars for rectifying your screw-up and for the other servers who happily accommodated us as we moved to the game room later. My suggestion to readers: go for beer and games but eat dinner at home.

Ive been to this pub with my wife many times in the last couple of years. Unlike most of the google reviewers, we have never had a bad service experience. The servers have always been reasonable friendly. The food is nothing to get excited about, but it passes for pub grub. Its true that the beer isnt great. This being Portland, there is a lot of really great beer out there, and Old Market unfortunately doesnt rank well. Its certainly not bad, but, like the food, its nothing to write home about. The atmosphere is nice. Most of the tables are booths. Its a big place, quite roomy. There are a few shuffleboard tables and pool room. Unfortunately smoking is allowed in the pool room, which makes it unbearable for me (note: I havent checked recently if this is still true, but it was true a couple of years ago). All in all, this is a perfectly nice place for a pleasant evening having a basic meal, a couple of beers, and some fun playing shuffleboard or socializing. If fractions were allowed, Id give it 3.5 stars.

I live down the street from OMP so it inevitably gets brought up when we go out with friends. Yes it is a good place to hang out, convenient and has pool and shuffle board. What it does not have is good service. It actually is TERRIBLE service. The waitresses act stuck up like they are better than everyone else just because they work here. I dont know how many times I have asked for something simple like more napkins or a glass of water and gotten a dirty look in return, from multiple employees. We also had considered renting out their back room for a birthday party last year and they charge a $750 deposit. For a PUB. I will gladly pay the $150 charge at Lucky Labrador or somewhere else similar close by that is a much more reasonable and realistic price for the type of establishment. And imagine, actually getting good service for such a lower price. OMP fails miserably in my book. Get some better food and better wait staff and maybe you will stand a chance.

The nice atmosphere and tasty food is unfortunately tarnished by the consistently poor service. Ive visited the Old Market Pub many times and its usually the same story which is frustrating as a customer because the food is so enjoyable. The waitstaff always seem stretched too thin and have too many tables, or they just dont have enough people working to cover the amount of customers. After waiting several minutes after finishing our meal, I had to get up and go inside the restaurant (I was enjoying the sun on the nice outdoor patio) and wait several minutes with my debit card in hand before anyone even addressed me. The servers have always been friendly, theyre just overloaded. If management/ownership could increase the quality and consistency of the service, Id be a regular.

Good food, great beer, usually good service, but after the service last time I wont be back. The waitress asked if we were ready 1 minute after sitting, before we could even look at the menu, then didnt come back for 20 minutes. I asked for no tomatoes on a calzone, and it came smothered in marinara. I sent it back. The maneger, asked if there was anything else I wanted while I waited for the next one. No, I just wanted what I ordered, and will watch my girlfriend eat until it arived. A good manager would have comped the meal. A good waitress would have checked before serving an order smothered with an ingredient that was explicitly asked to not be included. And she might have filled our water more than once.

This the worst bar in Portland. I dont understand why it is the only bar/brewery in Multnomah Village area. If another place opened up the Old Market Pub would go out of business pretty quick. The only reason it is so popular is because there is nothing else around. The glasses are always dirty so the beer is flat! The service is atrocious. You have to stalk someone down to get any service. I usually just go up to the bar since no one will ever come to your table. The atmosphere is like being in a basement decorated by a teenage boy. The bar food is awful. Happy hour items are pasta with red sauce from a can and burgers with nothing for vegetarians. Pretty expensive too for what you get..

I popped in for a quick beer and bite to eat and really enjoyed their Mr. Slates Gravelberry. I ordered some tater tots and boneless chicken wings to go along with it. The chicken was not as good as I would have hoped and it looked like someone just dumped Franks Red Hot on top and sent it out of the kitchen. The place is big and has a decent number of TVs. I really wanted to love this pub, but they missed the mark the day I came in. Still, I plan to go back and give them another try. Staff was warm and friendly and table service was solid.
