This place is close to my house. My wife and I love the building (its amazing). The food is your standard McMenamins fare (take that to mean what you will). The service, however, is horrible. There is a silver lining in clouds, however. The horrible service means there are no customers even on Friday/Saturday nights. So, when we dont want to wait to be seated on Saturday at 6:00 PM we come here. This last time, however, will be our last. The service has (amazingly) been going downhill as far as I can tell. The last time we came here we waited for 30 minutes (without so much as a "be with you in a minute" even though the server clearly saw us) before my wife went and found somebody and said "we need a server". 10 minutes after that (so 40 total) somebody came over and took our order. There is just no excuse for that kind of service. I would have been OK if somebody had just come up and said "be with you soon" or something... but no acknowledgment is over the top. So, another interesting thing: there were at least 3 servers we saw. There were very few customers. And still we just couldnt get any service. It didnt even make any sense.

When I was taking classes at PCCs Cascade Campus I spent many hours at this McMenamins. I love the space. This is one of McMenamins more historic properties, and it is a lot of fun. Especially if someone is playing the old pipe organ. The central bar is beautiful, and the staff is stellar. The beer and food are McMenamins dependable and a little more. This is a great place to catch Happy Hour and catch up on some last minute homework. It is also the perfect space to catch up with friends/family. They have a great patio which provides table service and is well shaded on a hot day. There is parking on site, but the spaces are limited and they are a tight squeeze if you have a bigger vehicle. So, if your coming during the busier lunch/dinner times you might have to park in the neighborhood. Ive never brought my pup here, but Ive seen a few happy fur friends on the patio in the past.

I really dont know how this place can stay in business. It is overpriced, the service is unusually slow, and the food is average at best. I have been to almost all of McMenamins locations, and this one is a distant last. I live within walking distance, and if I have a particular desire to visit a McMenamins, this one will not be an option. There are no less than a dozen places nearby where I can get quality craft brews for $1 less a pint, food that is prepared well, and waitstaff that put forth an effort. Waiting an hour for a sub-standard $11 sandwich, and going to the bar to get my own beer after waiting 15 minutes for someone to come to my table is just not enough to draw me back. If anyone is to blame, it is probably the manager.

Seat yourself when you walk in, so if there is a seat open, grab it! Waiter/ress gets to you fast to get your order and then its a reletively long wait for mediocre food. Their fish is pretty off the hook and their fries, but their burgers are nothing special. Maybe Im just spoiled by my boyfriends food, but I wasnt all too impressed. He loved the beer selection they had though! really nice staff, not bad food, and some good jams. Signs around say "Music every thursday! Steve Kerin on solo Pipe Organ! 8pm - all ages - free!" So if you like live music, check that out.

Typical McMenamins menu, with interesting specials from time to time (Hint: specials change every 2 weeks on Wednesday) and events. Every Thursday night there is live organ music playing, and it ranges from classics to modern music. The staff is really friendly here, wait times vary depending on how crowded it is and how staffed the pub is. But on average, I would say its about a 30 minute wait for food for a party of 4-5. The chili, African chicken peanut, and stuffed bell pepper soups are the best in my opinion.

The hurtful and rude staff will body shame you. They are expensive and there is nothing special about their food. Their homemade beers and liquors I have never liked. They taste very strongly of flavorings, like pine, and essential oils an perfumes. and the alcohol is bitter, not smooth. They send their customers crying one way or another. It really says some thing that every one prefers the dive across the street even though McMenamins is prettier and has a better menu.

A very typical, overpriced, pretentious modernist bar, but rear event area is spacious and well-furnished. Too pricey and no particular reason to recommend, except that it can be a good place to hold an event. If you do, though, keep in mind that this bar is in one of the worst parts of Seattle for finding parking, ESPECIALLY on weekends and evenings, and bus access from most locations will involve a very long walk as Westlake Station is nearly a mile away.

McMenamins looses its appeal after youve been there a few times. The atmosphere is kind of cool and its nice that the restore older buildings but after that charm wears off you start to realize that the food is bland and overpriced, the service is terrible, and the beer is not as great as other microbreweries in town. I wont go to another McMenamins if I can help it ever again.

I live in the neighborhood and have always enjoyed McMenamins. However, the last two times I have been to the Chapel Pub, I received the WORST service (by the same waiter) that I have ever had. It will be the last time that I patronize that McMenamins again. I ordered a beer and the Humus plate and it took over 45 minutes to get the Humus plate. Embarrassing!!

Charming experience with no wait for a table. The food, despite being "typical pub food", was surprisingly good and didnt leave the expected greasy film. Cannot recommend the Cajun tots enough. The room itself had a musky and humid feeling to it despite the clear weather outside, and I was happy to hear outdoor seating was available.

Both the service and food were pretty good here, which was a nice surprise, and I generally go to McMenamins just for the cool buildings and because its a family-friendly pub atmosphere that my mom feels comfortable in. I even got lucky and had a decent seasonal beer. So, I think this is one of their better locations.

My boyfriend and I went here and we were both confused as to why theres mixed reviews for this location. The service was wonderful (we had Casper and she was seriously awesome!), the food and drinks were amazing, and it was a interesting building with some cool history. We both highly recommend this McMenamins!

It was an interesting experience going to Chapel Pub seeing as it was converted from the funeral home where my grandfather was kept before his burial. But other than that the wrought iron work around this location is cool and its pretty standard McMenamens fare, moderately overpriced but good food and beer,

Its McMinnemins. Once again, congrats to them for giving old architecture new life. However, if you are interested in food, beer, or service go across the street to The Florida Room. The McMinnemins chain is for tourists and suburbanites, not for foodies, brewers, or distillers. Welcome to Portland.
