Ive been here twice. The first time I came in, the food was alright, but was overpriced for the quality. The second time I came in was just two days ago. I ordered a caterpillar roll and katsu donburi. The servers were very polite, and very attentive, which is the only reason this place deserves one star. The caterpillar roll.. just..no. It was so soggy, and very very warm. It tasted so strange, but it was the only edible part of my meal. The donburi.. It was disgusting. While understandably the egg made it a bit spongy, I took one bite of the katsu and it tasted like I bit into a sponge full of water. There was no flavor. It literally tasted like dirty dish water. The pork was extremely dry on the inside, I dont know how that was even possible. So, I took one bite of the donburi and left the rest. When the server came by I told her about the donburi. I didnt tell her that the caterpillar roll was gross too, because I ate most of it and I wanted to pay for it. So, I told her about the donburi and how I only took one bite, told her about the awful taste, the fact that it was pretty much a watery sponge, etc. She was very apologetic and said she would talk to her manager. She came back and told me that the manager would only discount 25% of the donburi. 25%? I didnt even eat it. So I told her no, I dont think I should have to pay for something that was so gross I couldnt even eat. She went back to her manager, and her manager said that he couldnt discount more than 50% on the donburi. Listen: it would be fair to pay 50% if I had eaten 50% of it before complaining. But I didnt. I took one bite. It was pretty much all still there in the bowl. Defeated, and not wanting to cause stress to the poor server, I paid for the caterpillar roll and 50% of the donburi. And Im never going back again. It was truly a bad experience. Ive never had to write a bad review. Bad food, bad service.

Ive seen this place, around the corner from my hotel for weeks now, and finally I committed to trying it out. Its a low key place, no flare, minimal service, and a promise for good sushi. And thats exactly why I went. The items I ordered were Hakutsuru Junmai Ginjo sake, the Salmon Platter special which included a total of six sashimi or nigiri style (2 ea) Atlantic Salmon, Alaska Wild Salmon, and New Zealand Wild Salmon and also the Alaska Makic roll. The Sake was mild, a little creamy, served cold. But to my immature pallet it seemed flat - like a flat soda. Maybe thats what its supposed to taste like, I really dont know. It was good but Id probably not order it again, rather Id try another sake. The salmon nigiri platter was great. I loved the New Zealand salmon, it was fatty, clean, and very flavorful. Order it. The Atlantic and Alaska salmon were also very great, clean tasting and very satisfying. The one thing to note here is that the sushi chef (at least the one on Monday night) likes to put a little bit of wasabi in everything. I didnt mind it, it still tasted great, but I wouldve liked a little heads up or the option to opt out of it. Id probably pass on the Alaskan Maki roll, it was alright. It didnt scream game changer or amazing. I would certainly go back to Koji Osakaya again. It was a relaxing place where the service will be there when you need them and a quite place to chill for an evening.

Koji is charming in its small space and crowded space. Its a definitely solace from the craziness of Broadway and the winter months of rain. Staff is generally friendly and are efficient. Its a great lunch spot, for theyll get you in and out and on your way within 30 minutes of you ordering! The portions are nice, and the dishes are great. If youre looking for a nice bowl of ramen or pretty decent sushi, this place is for you!

Be warned, Im not a sushi addict and therefore cant make the assertion that this place has the worst sushi ever, but Ive eaten at enough places to know what ranks low and tastes bad. While their service is really great, the freshness and quality of their sushi is lacking. Its around Blue Fin quality. However, its more expensive than Blue Fin, but they have a better variety. Id still recommend Sushiland over this place.

I have been here a few times with friends and think it is pretty good. I had a Salmon and rice dish that was fantastic and cant wait to go back and get. My only warning is that some of the dishes can be very Japanese and use a flavor pallet that might not be to everyones liking. The wait staff can help you if you think this might be an issue. Overall I give this place a high recommendation.

Used to come here a lot. Quality is good. Seems like theyve just recently switched up a few things though. Portions have gotten a little smaller than what they used to be. Ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry, which before came with a whole breast but this time came with only about 4-5 slices. Unfortunately with all the new places popping up, cant justify coming back here for those prices/portions.

Like many PDX sushi spots, the fish just cant stand alone here. If I have to mask the fishiness with soy/wasabe, Id just rather be at a sushi-go-round. I mean, why pay high prices for something you can get for a $1 or two that tastes the same (like soy/wasabe?) This place is one of the worst sushi places Ive had, though. :6 After several attempts, Im Not going back.

This place WAS my favorite place to eat Japanese food until one day we waited to seated for over 5 min!!!! The place wasnt even busy....there was only 4 people eating and all the staff were talking to each other. They saw us enter and ignored us.....as a Japanese American I enjoyed the food but it was such a rude thing to do that I will never go back!

I was an employee with this oganization for a short time. I was happy until after two consecutive pay periods, my checks were shorted by days of pay, and I still have not been paid for that time. Dont support this company as they do not support their employees.

I love this place the chicken katsu curry is most excellent there! The serving size is very generous, and the staff are friendly, and knowledgeable of what they serve. This is definitely not a cliche sushi bar! it actually serves really good Japanese food!

First time. Was hoping for the authentic sit down on the floor but not existent. Old pic from previous location. Ate the spicy tuna rice bowl which was very good. Cheaper sushi in the burbs but hey, it is downtown.

Tried their Curry Ramen. Very thick and delicious broth for this. I would say the noodles were a bit dry but overall flavor was great. Waters were refilled right away. Nice service and good food.

This was the first time that Ive tried Japanese food, and it was a great experience - Ill be more than willing to eat Japanese again. Before this Id only ever had sushi.
