The atmosphere is nice although I dont like how close they put other patrons to you when dining. The food was very good, particularly since it is very difficult to find good restaurant food in the Salem area in general. The service was friendly and prompt. The only other gripe I have is that it is a very, very noisy place. It is all wood and tile and there is nothing to absorb sound which echos throughout the restaurant. The slate or tile floor combined with the wooden chairs causes a horrible screeching when chairs are moved, which is of course all the time. It is funny how sounds can totally destroy the atmosphere of an otherwise nice restaurant. It would not be difficult or expensive to substitute magic sliders on the feet of the chairs to get rid of that horrible sound. Unless/until they do, I will not be back which is too bad as I otherwise like the place.

Very much enjoyed the ambiance, however the food was rather bland and over-priced. Sausage Fondue was nice. The Sausage Sandwich, at $9.50 consisted of a wurst on a bun, with a weak kraut and a creamy mustard that had no bite or spice to it. I chose to add fries, which put the plate into the 12 dollar range. I kind of thought I was going to get a Ruben style sandwich. Anyway, the wurst was luke warm. Seriously, the Polish dog at Costco with their deli mustard and sour kraut is a better ride. Wifes beer-batter fish and chips were tasty, but the fish could have used a bit more time in the fryer. One of the kids ordered the German style mac and cheese, and I had a bite. OMG, that was way off the charts good. And oh so very rich! Service and ambiance was excellent.

This German food restaurant is an absolute favorite of mine. The dining area is large, well lit, and clean. The service is prompt and attentive, even during the busier hours of the evening. I like to start my meals off here with a fondue appetizer (honestly, thats most of the reason I LOVE this place). It comes with apples, bread and for a little extra, sausage. Their soups are inventive and serve as a good first course too. The spatzle is the second reason I come here! Served with the dinner entrees in lieu of potatoes, this gem of a side dish has become a favorite of mine.

Interesting experience. Nice atmosphere, quaint building. The salad was small, the soup looked like Campbells. I really liked the main course (we had dinner for two, the German sampler, or something like that), but my boyfriend didnt. The bathroom was really nice but out of toilet paper. The server was good, but the water tasted funny. Mt. Angel is a lovely town, though, and I do love a good weinerschnitzel. So this place was sort of good, sort of bad. Homemade soup would have helped a lot, and warmer bread. But I still thought it was ok.

I love this place. The fondue is always a must order, and the German mac and cheese or the garden spatzel are always my favorite. The service is alway top notch and have never had a waiter who wasnt top notch. (Special nod to Jacob who always kept my water glass full!) However, what I am especially fond of is "The Taste Of..." series that the chef has been doing. I always enjoy the variety and trying things I wouldnt normally get to anywhere else. I always look forward to the next one and hope they continue to have these special events!

Excellent food, fun atmosphere, large clean well organized dining area. This restaurant is a MUST next time you visit Mt Angel. There is an animated feature outside not turned on every day but the management graciously turned it on at the request of my date. Very interesting bit of history and viewing. I recommend eating here and trying all the menu choices. As a vegetarian the Portabella Mushroom sandwich was delectable and a nice surprise at a German sausage restaurant (smile).

We have long missed Paul of Angels Table in Mt. Angel and because we went to say hi to Henri at Engelbergs Antiks in Salem last week.... She told us we could find Paul chef at the Glockenspiel in Mt. Angel. Couldnt get there soon enough. The place is gorgeous, warm and inviting, service impeccable and the food!!!! Paul is as masterful as ever. Make sure to stop in and enjoy a wonderful beer and meal soon. 5 Stars all the way. Carol and Craig Robinson

First visit there they completely forgot to cook my order. Then when it finally arrived after my wife had her food for 15 min mine was cooked raw and inedible. THEN they forgot another part of my order on 3rd Try. We ended up leaving without finishing the meal and refused the free meal on them if we returned. Just a poor first impression.

Never new this place excited until we visited Oregon garden in Silverton . The food is great here , staff is really helpful and looks Germany . If you are wondering about prices dont because they are fair. Oh yea almost forgot they got good beer . Give it a shot if you are into trying different foods here and there.

Tje Glockenspiel is billed as a German restaurant and it does have German style food, but highly Americanized. The food was good, hot and filles us up. The staff very mice and attentive, bit mot intrusive. No problem getting in, unless it is around the Oktoberfest, then I imagine e there will be quite a wait.

Unique restaurant in rural Oregon whose claim to fame is a large glockenspiel. The staff was really friendly but the food was overpriced, slow to arrive and not that great. I think the Oktoberfest might be a good time to visit to see this sleepy town. Or go see the Belgian brewery just outside of town.

Ate here to celebrate my nephews 15th bday - he is learning German in school so we ate German: Wiener Schnitzel with spiekel, Jager Chicken, and German sausage with sauerkraut. He had the German chocolate cake and I had the Apple strudel. Everything was fabulous and the service was quick & friendly.

I had the cabbage rolls. They were all right, not spectacular. I was a little disappointed with the tap list. They only had four or five German beers on tap. No bottles. Id hope to see at least a dozen different beers between the tap and bottle list at a German restaurant.

The food was excellent - we had schnitzel, hazelnut chicken and salmon, and all were exceptionally good. The creme brulee and German chocolate cake were the best weve ever had. Our waitress was wonderful. All in all, a great experience and wed definitely go back.

The fondue is worse than melting fake American cheese. The German food is not really German food. It is sick. I had the cabbage rolls. My 1 year old son could cook better. Waitress was nice, but you cant have a restaurant with nasty food. Never again.

Ive traveled all over the country, and I have a new favorite for German food! The food is easily on a par with, and the atmosphere superior to the Hofbrauhaus itself. I wouldnt bring a large raucous party here, but for a quiet dinner it cant be beat!

Incredible German food and fun atmosphere. Five star food in a down home setting. This is a must eat if you are ever in the area. We tried the sampler and everything was superb. Everything was cooked perfect and had an incredibly fresh taste.
