The guy who said food was disgusting doesnt have much sense. The food is always good, and sometimes even great. no its not gourmet, but then if you want that pay say $51+ per person instead that of for a group, then you have something to say! I know because I dine at both, especially during business trips. For the price, the selection is great, and a great variety. Food is alot better than that Ive had at peoples homes, potlucks etc. and its affordable to bring a bunch of kids, teenagers who can eat alot! Ive also eaten other buffets in Lane county and this is far better, in taste, quality, and selction. Plus most buffets put out alot of cheap starches and things from packages. At Empire, the food is from scratch and they dont skimp on dishes and quality ingredients. Like seafood. Where else can you get all you can eat seafood, crab legs, basic sushi, shell fish, shrimp, and a vairety of other proteins!!! This is my second favorite restaurant around, and definitely favorite buffet! Ive never seen a good quality Asian and Seafood inspired buffet below $25 before!! How they can afford it, makes me think they have very little profit margin. So, yes, its a great place to dine, with a group, after church, or perfect for teen and college students! Also, service is nice, the staff are always smiling and nice. Give it a try, a local owned business. They also always accomodate last minute groups as best as they can and birthday gatherings. Weve never been turned away and Ive seen people show up in groups without notice, and they try to accomodate. Plus if you have small children they price by age, so its cheap to bring the whole family! What a deal! This is where I like to bring a bunch of kids of all ages, because its affordable. Last year, I gave my son his birthday dinner at Buffet, and because of price, he was able to invite plenty of friends, and it was affordable. Instead of lots of work and cooking at home, it was easy for host the dinner there and everyone had something to eat they liked! If we went to a traditional restaurant, itd cost me hundreds of dollars to feed a group that size. It worked out great, he was happy, his friends were full and happy, and so was my wallet!

While the proprietors are successful at offering a wide variety in a reasonably clean facility, the quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired. The teriyaki chicken was downright awful, the chicken being rubbery and old tasting, the yakisoba noodles were over done and kind of soggy, the coconut chicken was a major disappointment it looked like it would be nice and coconutty, by instead it was tempura chicken doused in mayo and a few flakes of coconut, tasted gross. I spent $12.00 on the per lb. take out ($3.99/pound) and we maybe ate only 1/3 of it, no one wanted to finish it up so I ended up throwing the rest away. The only reason Im giving this buffet 2 stars instead of one is because the peanut chicken was really pretty good: nice and crispy with a rich peanut flavor. I would go back onyl to get some of that. Im hoping tht maybe we just caught themon an off day, but weve eaten there 4xs in the last few years and been disappointed every time. Another major drawback is that they only offer styrofoam containers for their take out, so Ill definitely have to bring my own containers fro home, fpr that awesome peanut chicken!

Come on Eugene, As close to the Pacific and this is it? Seems like everything is offered, but everything seemed left from Lunch. And this was a 7:30 Dinner. Ive had better at Panda Express, and for far less money. After 1 drink the total for 1 person exceeded $15.00US. You should be able to expect better than this. Noisy, Kids running amok like it was Chuckie Cheeses. No semblance of Asian influence other than the staff. Bob Seeger on the local FM. Real abiance...not. So far its the closest to the McDonalds of the Chinese/Asian restaurants Ive ever encountered. And Ive seen plenty. Feels like nothing more than a feed trough. With no cultural integrity. Time to try much harder. Ill try House of Chen 4 doors down next visit. Oh and I believe at least 1 of the googleusers who posted below may be an in house web troll. Because No one can call this good by the lowest standard, and have any comparisons to honestly base it on. Dont shoot the messenger See for yourself, if you dare. But I told you so

Of course when you go to a little Chinese buffet for a $12 all you can eat dinner you cant expect 5 star food and service!!! The food is not exceptional, but it isnt bad. When I go, I rarely eat the chinese food...mostly just the sushi. If you are a sushi lover (like myself) then you know that for $7.50 all you can eat sushi for lunch is a STEAL. They have average cali-rolls, an occasional philly or alaskan roll and nigiri. I usually only go for lunch for this very reason. The service isnt great, the waiters do say "You pay me" and kind of hover around the table. But who cares. You arent going to a buffet for a fine dining experience. Get in, get full, get out.

Horrible horrible horrible. I am very disgusted. 1st we were charged a 10% gratuity and we never saw a waiter. Then we saw 2 little girls sticking their fingers into the deserts licking them and sticking them back in. We told an employee this and the deserts never got changed out. When we went to pay our bill we told the cashier that a 10% return he was unacceptable when we got really really bad service. We furthermore told her about the little girls and the deserts and she did nothing about it. They should be ashamed of themselves. At this point she blew up at me and started to yell and scream she said something about my english. I will not be coming back here again.

Best ever chinese food. Great price, too!!! The won tons are the best Ive ever had. Some dishes are better than others, but everyone likes different things. I have friends that LOVE some of the food that I really didnt care for and vice versa. They also have a salad bar and a sushi bar. RE: the review below - Its all you can eat lunch for around $8, dinner for around $11. Kids are priced by age and Tuesday lunch is only like six bucks. And then theres the take out, $4.50/lb and a bit more for seafood. Its not at all unreasonable to pay 50 buck for 6 people at a sit down restaurant.

Ive been here at least a dozen times in the past 5 years, generally on someones birthday, because that persons meal is free (gotta show a drivers license or birth certificate to get this, and weve done it both ways). What I like is the big variety. Its true what some of the other reviewers say: there are some items that are just a big pile of cheap, vaguely Chinese food. But the sushi is always good, there is some excellent seafood selections at dinner (crab, tuna), and you can always find something you like. Ignore the stuff you dont like and youll do just fine.

My brother passed away recently and I had to leave my little get around bike locked up on their bike U for a week while I was taking care of him through his death. Well the owners got annoyed slashed the tires on it, so when I did come to get it, I also had to take it apart and have the new tires put on. It was the most of the most cruel and thoughtless things anyone has ever done to me. It is wrong to take pleasure in other peoples suffering and thats exactly what this person did. I hope this person can find peace in the world and stop hurting others.
