Love the ice cream.......the restaurant on the other hand has alot to be desired. Price is definitely not worth the food. Do not plan on filling your belly on a budget here. $36 for a cup of chili (wasnt big enough to be considered a bowl, but that was what the price reflected), a cheeseburger (nothing fancy here just a cheeseburger), a Philly cheesestick (everyone can make steakumms) and a sundae (best part of meal and cheapest!) Secondly the help......young, unenthusiastic, no guidance, very slow (6-8 people always standing around) no sense of urgency at all. Spilled our drink and had a table full of elderly people behind us and I had to ask them twice to get a mop and rags and then I proceeded to dry the floor with the rags! Definitely did not want to see anyone fall! moral of the story..........go for the ice cream!!!!!!

Velvet ice cream is very good so my family took a trip to utica to see what it was like. It was rush hour on Sunday and within 30 seconds they had us sat down at a table outside. The scenery is gorgeous as we waited. Our waiter was very quick and friendly. I ordered the mill which is a chicken wrap with lettuce, provolone, ranch dressing, tomato and onion. The chicken was well cooked and it was a very good meal. We then went and got some ice cream. There was a long line but we didnt wait for more than 2 minutes before being helped. On top of that the ice cream was phenomenal. An all around wonderful place with much more to offer like a petting zoo and a small pond to fish in with playgrounds too. Highly recommended if you have some time on your hands.

A great place to take your family, and kids. Best tasting Ice Cream. They are in a restored old stone Mill built in the 1800’s with free tours. They also have a great park with ponds. Shelters , Trials, and Petting Zoo. They have events during most weekends in the summer, and shelters to rent for groups. My motorcycle Association makes a trip to Velvet Ice Cream every summer for the last 2 years, and have a cook out at one of Velvet’s Shelters. It is Worth the trip!

Ye Olde Mill is an old-style icecream shop and eaterie that also hosts an icecream museum, a gift shop and gorgeous parkland where you can feed the ducks. The prices for the ice-cream might be a little high, but its delicious and they dont skimp on anything. It is the perfect place to spend a lazy summer afternoon. They also host an icecream festival, usually in May, and you can find dates for this at their website if you google them.

I love going here because it meens we are out for a drive in the country. My disappointment came in the form of not having Chocolate Almond Ice Cream. So my suggestion is, get rid of 2 types of Butter Pecan, and slip in the Chocolate Almond. They also have tours, we didnt do that. And they have food.... didnt do that either. I go there for ice cream. Make it a destination on your outing in Utica.

Its a mill that was built in 1817. The family that owns velvet ice cream, has been making it in the mill since 1914.. There are displays of antique ice cream equipment and there is a big plate glass window that you can come and watch them work. The ice cream festival is also for the Sertoma club.. Craft booths and antique tractor rides along with ponies and other fine things for the kids.

Such a beautiful place to visit for people of all ages. The sound of the giant water wheel is peaceful. There are 3 picnic shelters outside, cafe seating, a museum and free tours a restaurant and even a playground and catch and release pond. The lines can be long inside but service for ice cream moves pretty quick. Great place to take kids. Todays a whole busliad of campers were there!

This was one of the nicest places we have visited. The food was excellent and the service friendly and attentive. The grounds are beautiful and there was a pair of Clydesdale horses giving "Cinderella" carriage rides! They even have a miniature horse and donkey for the kids to pet. We did not go on the walking tour, due to bad knees, but it was a lovely day!

I had actually never heard of this brand of ice cream (Im not from Ohio and not a huge ice cream eater) but I really enjoyed my trip here. The ice cream was delicious and the tour was informative. My 5 year old son loved it and wants to work at an ice cream factory when he grows up :)

Had a "pick 2 combo" with chicken salad and a side salad. Chicken was fresh and service was super fast. Everyone was friendly and of course the ice cream is awesome. Nice place for a day trip, not a bad trip from Columbus. Lots of outside areas for picnics and enjoying nature too.

I dont actually like ice cream, but I love the choice of flavors and the ambiance here. And I have been a n leaks to find flavors that I actually like. Apparently on certain days it seems that half of Ohio loves it too. And they all show their love at the same time. :)

Very neat place to visit. Our family loves velvet ice cream. Loved getting to visit. Was very neat watching them make the ice cream. Very interesting history. I would choose a different place to eat lunch. But, definitely go in and sample the ice cream.

Waste of time to drive any distance. Website offered tours on weekend Got there from Columbus to find out that "tour" was video only. Small pond with ducks. Ice cream bar and small gift shop offered nothing I couldnt find near my home in Lewis Center.

Good ice cream, has a really cool pond with ducks and geese outside as well as a museum area. However, it is always extremely crowded. Expect to wait in line for about 20 minutes for your food. I dont recommend getting any good other than ice cream.

Lovely restaurant with good food and an outdoor seating area, a little museum about the mill, and a spacious park and picnic area. Tours and historical info available and you can watch the ice cream being made and packaged.

I know its a busy place but when you wait 25 minutes to try to get service to order when the workers keep looking at you but none come to take your order so they lost 4 customers we went someplace else to eat.

Got there after tours were over for the day. Despite this, we were able to see much, catch the overview and production videos and enjoy their delicious flavors of ice cream. Definitely worth the stop.
