We had a reservation, as we were being seated the hostess walked away just to have the nasty waitress swoop in and tell us we could not sit at our table. She made us stand there until she went and verified it was indeed our table, and then we were allowed to sit down. The waitress got Increasingly ruder a less helpful, probably because the table behind us were ordering drinks through their stay. When we placed our order, I ordered crab legs and I added, do not worry about the butter, I will not need it. she looked at me like I had three heads and in the most condescending tone said it does not come with butter. I told her it did last time I ordered it and she snapped the same reply again. Our party of eight looked at each other not sure what to think. Later after the over rated salad bar we received our dinners, she plops a plate of frog legs in front of me. I told her of the error, and she replied oh, that is why you did not want butter and walked away. Needless to say my husband spoke to the manager and I got a free bowl of clam chowder for dinner that gave me food poisoning. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!

I dont get why everyone likes this place. The salad bar is horrible, I hope you dont like fresh vegetables in your salad, but tomatoes and carrots because the 51 items they rave about isnt fresh vegis. They have plenty of items on their salad bar, but they are like relishes and just weird stuff. This isnt saying much but Id rather eat the salad bar at Golden Corral. Moving on to the entree, I was still not impressed. I got the New York strip and let me tell u Ive seen beef jerky thicker. Dessert I have to agree with a previous comment the cheesecake had a funny taste. I had ate at this place when I turned 16, 22 years ago now I remember why we hadnt been back!

My family and I had heard good things about this place, but were not impressed at all. The staff was very nice, and our waitress was great, but we felt that most of the food was blah. The fried chicken was too tough, cornbread didnt taste like anything. Dont understand the rave reviews on the salad bar. There isnt anything fancy on it, just your typical cold salad bar items. The collassal cheesecake doesnt look the same in person, and also tasted funny, I thought. I did think the mashed potatoes and gravy were good though. Dont mean to sound disrespectful, just giving my honest opinion. Maybe were just too picky. But thanks again for the great service.

Really, I do not understand some of the bad reviews. OK the place is really dated and has a cafeteria feel. Beyond that the resemblance ends. I have had prime rib from many places. No other place even touches the Houstons prime rib. Their lamb is also of very high quality. Frog legs, their specialty, I will just do those at home if I go gigging, so I cannot comment, but would never choose frog legs over prime rib, ribeye or lamb in the first place. Honestly, one of our familys favorite places. I think if they had slightly later hours and a makeover they would draw a younger crowd. No matter, I look forward to it every time I go.

Food was not anything to write home about very mediocre. My ribs tasted kind of funky and I did not eat them. They seemed old, tasted "off" and rewarmed (maybe left over from the weekend). Service was ok but server did not remove the bad ribs from the bill or make any adjustment. Waitress stated desserts are not homemade and come from Gordons foods. For the amount we spent I would far prefer the Wildflower right down the street which has fresh, organic and tasty fare for similar prices. This place is for the geriatric set.

Houston Inn is a nice quiet place with a relaxing atmosphere. The food was very basic. I ordered Shrimp which im sure came from Gordons but was good. Their salad bar was nice and had a large assortment of items but it was difficult to get to the things in the middle. Definitely not designed for someone who is shorter.

This is a historic eatery with good, old fashioned food. The salad bar is phenomenal. Soooo many toppings to choose from and random extras in there as well. Definitely worth a trip. The owner is kind as can be and always stops to talk to our little boy. The decor could use a serious update though.

My GPS will not pick up this address. How about including coordinates for your location on your site. I have been coming to the Houston for 45 years - you have the best Frog Legs in all of the United States and I want to share your restaurant with my friends, but they cant GPS it.

The food here is delicious and varied. From frog legs to crab cakes on weekdays to fried chicken to steak all is wonderful. Note: the location is north east of Mason Morrow Milgrove Rd on the east side of US 42. Use Goggle Street View to see the Pink arrow sign.

You will love this place if you are in the 70-100 age demographic and own a beige Buick. Pickled things that shouldnt be picked, traditional American without much flavoring. The people there are very nice and efficient.

Great service and outstanding NY Strip. Great salad bar. Very quaint. Wont find 10 televisions and loud noise. No one is sitting on top of each other. I like chains every now and again, but will be back here.

Overrated salad bar. I figured with the limited selection on the menu, they would have good food. Not to be. My steak was like shoe leather. The older crowd really likes this place for some reason.

Diner food in a nicer setting. not bad at all. The salad bar has recipes your mother made in the 1950s! Portions are a bit skimpy but the prices are very reasonable. Id go back if in the area.

Best salad bar in 100 miles. Good ribs and steaks. Known for their frog legs. Family owned. Extremely friendly staff. Good place for gatherings.
