The food was amazing, fresh, and delicious. My friend described it as high quality Mexican and I was not dissapointed. I would possibly say a modern, gourmet take on Mexican food meets fast food. Something along the lines of Nada meets Chipotle efficiency. They had a large selection of Mexican beverages, including homemade sangria, horchata, and several juice drinks. The horchata was spot on. You know the salsa and chips are fresh as you watch them being made. The service was friendly and helpful. I had the taco trio, steak, fried fish, and grilled fish, served on a bamboo patter, and I left very satisfied. I would say to expect to spend $10 - 15 a person average. The wait was not long and its worth the experience. They mange the crowd well, and the wait for the food was decent as its all hand made on the spot. The place is rather small and seems to always be busy. While we didnt feel rushed by the staff, but if you are aware that tables cost money, I would not expect to occupy a table for a meeting or a longer stay unless you know its not a busy time. They had a seating attendant when we visited to help make getting a table a smoother process, which did help. You could tell they cared about creating the best experience possible.

Not that it needs anymore props, but this place is great--the amount of food they churn out on a relatively small grill is amazing to watch. Thats part of what made it fun--the small chaotic atmosphere with everything going on all at once. Ive had tacos in the streets of Monterrey, and the tacos here perfectly reflect that street vendor feel with a little bit of hipster/chic/foodie flair. We got there right at 12 and even though it was packed, we got in and out in about 45 min...Get there earlier and you can do it in under 30. Note--if youre a first timer (people who have been there already know this) and you order multiple meals under one ticket and they dont all come out within a couple mins of each other, ask someone about it. The food was flat out fantastic. I will say that I went with a big appetite and, had i just gotten three tacos, i probably would have been hungry ...spend the $2 and get the unlimited chips/salsa bar-it takes the experience up a notch. Words will not do the food justice, so i will cut my poetic waxing short...Give it a try...go..NOW!

OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My brother in law insisted we eat here last night. I hate crowds, and am not a big "taco" fan, and I thought I was in for a not so great experience. Long line, crowded seating, etc... But, as I got closer to the order station/cooking area, I started to drool... seeing some of the food coming off the grill I started salivating.. When it was our turn to order, I couldnt make up my mind, and by then, knew I was in for some tasty food.. It was a fairly long wait for food, but it was crowded, so we were patient.. and when it came? I just have no words.. BEST FOOD I HAVE HAD IN MANY MOONS!!! I cant find the words.. so JUST GO EAT HERE. Even the rice was crazy good.. I wanted to go back for breakfast today! (they dont serve breakfast, but they SHOULD!) I will probably go back tonight.. I am hooked.. glad it isnt that close to me, because I would be there every day. SABROSO!!!! THANKS TO MY BIL, THANKS TO THE OWNER, COOKS, STAFF.... The best ever!

I lived in Oaxaca for two years; at one point I lived 5 miles from Mazunte. Ive been home for almost three years and this is the first place Ive had that really nails the southern Mexican food. A lot of "Mexican" food is a poorly done mock up of some food in the northern Mexican states (burritos, etc.). But these (non-taco)dishes here at Mazunte- the memelas (the chorizo, not the chicken), the tostadas, the pazole, the tamales and the tortillas in general are just amazing, and as authentic as youll find. Any clown giving them 1 start due to lack of authenticity does so in ignorance. This isnt Californian Mexican food, its Mexican Mexican food. If youre a food snob hung up on authenticity, then try something other than tacos... no manches Cool atmosphere; nice outdoor patio seating. Guac like woah. Great Horchata, and agua de Jamaica too. The only downside is that its always packed... but if thats the worst thing going on then youre doing something right.

It was my last night in town and I wanted to try a new place. My dad, the baby and I met three friends here for dinner. It was a Tuesday night around 6p. When we arrived we easily scored one of the last open tables. This place got much busier by the time we left! If my memory serves me right, all the four and five tops are high tops only. All the Low top tables, or normal height tables, were only meant for two or three people. After asking the cashier suggestions and much debate, my dad and I finally decided on the Chile Relano and the Quesadilla. I loved the warm gooey cheese that filled the Chile! And the quesadilla was so unique! It had a blue corn tortilla and was stuffed with more meat than Ive ever seen. The order comes with two - we got one chorizo and one chicken. My dad preferred the former and I preferred the latter. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious! We will definitely return again soon!

Great food. Good salsa. Went to this place for lunch on a Saturday, after a couple of friends suggested this place. Ordering is like in a fast food joint, not what youd expect at a classical Mexican restaurant but the food was as authentic as it gets. The best part is their guac and salsa bar. The ingredients are so fresh it gives a rich taste. I generally rate mexican restaurants by the taste of their salsas and this was definitely top notch. The food also tasted rich, their cheese was great too. Usually Id feel that mexican restaurants overload cheese, not this place! Only downside is that it is like a fast food joint, we have to find our own table, and that is an impossible task. Maybe they can put in more tables or make a better seating arrangement, but quality of the food compensates for this. I will definitely suggest this place to anyone who wants to eat RICH MEXICAN FOOD.

Like many restaurants capitalizing on the gourmet taco scene, Mazunte was an early adopter of re-imagining traditional Mexican fare with modern style, served in a (needlessly) funky/hip way, served on (no doubt sustainably sourced) bamboo trays. Atmosphere is casual industrial with flourishes of color and wood, which combined with the outdoor patio and Corona umbrellas, its enough to make you forget youre in a strip mall. Overall, the formula is successful; they offer a unique experience with quality ingredients that is arguably overpriced but no less delicious. Downsides: no table service, guacamole is tasty and fresh but not as good as Bakersfield, and the plastic bucket self-serve margarita station feels cheap. Highlights: fresh salsa bar, roasted corn on the cob, house made chips, outdoor seating.

I chose to eat at Mazunte Taqueria based on the high rating and exaggerated reviews of 4.7 stars. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because of their Horchata flavored water and the short pretty cashier. Other than that, food portions are tiny to the high price they charge for and the flavor is just regular like very much any other mexican place. The tacos are 3 for $9.00, and they are the mini taco version served on a single homemade tortilla that breaks when you pick it up. I miss my double tortilla minis. Anyhow, I had to order something else just to satisfy my hunger. El dueño del restaurante es un gabacho que nunca ha ido a México y ni idea tiene de lo que es la comida Mexicana. El menú se lo paso un Chilango que trabaja en la parrilla. Me quede con hambre y tuve que ordenar algo más.
