One of the best in the city, along with Collective Espresso in Northside. Their espresso is above average, but could use more refinement. Their espresso bean variety switches relatively frequently, so I question how they are able to really dial things in to perfection with it changing so often. The espresso can be a bit inconsistent depending on the barista, and I suspect that it is not reaching its full flavor potential. Better, I think, to stick to one or two solid performers, hunker down, really figure out the fine nuances, then knock it out of the park. Staff are incredibly kind and helpful while most seem to be skilled and attentive baristas who know their espresso stuff and enjoy their craft. A secret tip: there are a few general giveaways that signal a coffeeshop is a cut above the rest - high-quality milk (from Snowville Creamery in this case, the best in Ohio!), barista nerd and industry-specific magazines strewn about tables, and high quality sparkling mineral water for sale - this place has all three. Also, if a barista here at Bloc isnt happy with a pull, they will do it over again and take the time to do it right, which is always a VERY good indication that they know their stuff. You can wait an extra 2 minutes for perfection. This is a faith-based business, and the regulars who incessantly study and talk Bible babble can become rather obnoxious and distracting. That said, they do real and lasting work in the community, and we have never been made to feel uncomfortable. Our biggest gripe are their new hours - closing at 4pm is just ridiculous, and they should hire some non-religious staff to be open on Sundays. They are dog-friendly too, but please dont ruin this for everyone by bringing a crappy misbehaving dog into the place. On a hot day, try their bizarre espresso-orange juice-seltzer drink. It smells like rotting zombie grandma ass, but tastes great! B+

The Corner BLOC Coffee Shop has become a place I consider an extension of my home. The environment and staff are welcoming and comforting. A stressful day at the office? Coming here is my after-work vacation. The drinks are fantastic and the staff is incredibly knowledgable. I have learned so much from them about what goes in to a great cup of coffee (its more complex than you think!) As if having a clean and inviting shop, knowledgable and friendly staff, and excellent coffee werent enough, their proceeds help benefit an awesome cause!

GOOD COFFEE! Corner BLOC Coffee has a true pour-over bar, traditional espresso bar, they offer Snowville Creamery milk, have knowledgeable and passionate baristas (hard to find), bright yet cozy space, use locally roasted specialty coffee that is organic and fairly traded, and delicious homemade goodies too! To top it off, the prices are reasonable. This shop is off the beaten path so it feels a little like home. Also open til 10pm so its definitely a shop worth frequenting!

A lovely little shop with cozy seating, collective charm, and excellent espresso. I ordered a latte for the wife and a cortado for myself. The latte was nicely done but a bit heavy on the syrup. Next time I will ask for a specific number of pumps. The cortado was excellent with rich, chocolaty espresso and nicely frothed milk. The location is a bit out of the way but the coffee makes it a worth while trip.

This place is a great place to come and study and relax. I went there a couple weeks ago and received friendly service, along with an excellent vanilla late. I was also shocked at how low their prices were compared to a lot of other coffee shops. If you are looking for a good cup of coffee and a relaxing environment, this is the place for you.

Went there on a fairly busy morning (after renewing my drivers license); staff was very friendly and the environment was very comforting. The only thing I had any concerns about was the fact that its on the west side of the city, which I dont go through often. This place may change that for me, however.

I have only been here once but have heard many good things. My experience was very positive and the young gentleman barista spoke with me informatively about cortados, which they actually have on their drink menu. Most other places (especially chains) dont even know what a cortado is.

Clean, great prices, better coffee, some good food, and a mix of seating. Both the coffee and food use high quality ingredients. Youd think with all that theyd be pretentious, but its also the most laid back coffee shop Ive ever visited. Well worth the trip if you dont live nearby.

The people at the counter are always friendly. The cold brews excellent when you can get it. And they either have cute locally made pastries or some excellent avocado toast on hand. I wish I lived nearby. Downside: Closed on Sundays, I think? Kinda weird.

I got the Smores latte which was unvelieveably decadent. Foam just melts in your mouth, and this one actually had a good marshmallow flavor to it. Bloc service is fast, and sweet. Cant wait to go back to try more.

The Bloc has the best coffee in town and sandwiches for lunch but my favorite is the breakfast sandwiches on Thursday and Fridays.
