Quaint restaurant serving sandwiches, Gyros and Greek salads. The salad was perfect, the gyro was good and a good value. The fries were cooked perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The pita bread was exceptional, I dont know if they just warmed it up or if they were made there, but whatever they did made the pita noticably yummy. I wished they had more Greek/Mediterranean dishes, spinach pie, grape leaves, falafel, hummus etc. They do seem to have daily specials that are not always off the menu, but I dont know how much demand there would be with the regulars. The place is out of the way for me, but I will keep them in mind when I am in the area.

Being from the south side of Chicago... Ive been blessed with a lifetime of great greek food. I was so excited to find good reviews of the gyros. I ordered food from there today and was very disappointed. Yes it was a gyro but there was very little meat, the meat was cold and not sure it had been cooked let alone put on one the radiant roasters..... I will admit the fries were great and the burgers looked good; however dont go looking for a great gyro.

The best gyro Ive ever had! I admit I was a bit concerned by the rundown appearance and that the restrooms are out back of the building. But many times you find a diamond in the rough and this is one. Inspite being outdated, it is clean! The service was fast and friendly (family like). My onion rings were perfectly crispy and my Mediterranean Gyro was delicious (huge), the meat was incredibly tender! Very reasonable prices! Well worth a visit!!!

While Athenian isnt what I would call a Greek restaurant, they make some of the best gyros Ive had. I also love their handmade baklava. If youre looking for ambiance, I would recommend getting your food to go because its not the prettiest place, but the service is good; the food is good; and the price is right.

Ive been here once with my husband and we enjoyed our meal: nothing fancy, just good basic Greek diner food. Then I arranged to meet a friend here on a Monday for dinner. They were closed, despite various web sites claiming they are open on Monday. Very disappointing.

Greasy spoon type diner that happens to have gyros on the menu. Gyro was great, but service was lousy (with complimentary attitude). Waitress only bothered to take orders from five of the six people at our table. Slow service. Extra side of tzatziki sauce was frozen.

Great food. Great location. They Gyros are delicious. The restuarant has been there for 50+ years. The cook has been there for 30+ years. The double deckers are huge and yummy. I cannot say enough good things about their menu. It keeps getting better and better.

This is a classic diner with great food and unbeatable prices. I have been coming here for 20 years. They know my name and order. They have great gyros, burgers and double deckers. The service cant be beat. You would be missing out if you drove by!

The Gyros are kind of small for the price, but very good. Its a little run down, and looks kind of dirty, but seems to get great business and is one of the only places in the area that makes a decent Gyro!

Terrible food, HORRIBLE service Got a classic gyro fries and a drink for 7.50$. Gyro barely had any meat on it, came with frozen sauce on the side. Not worth the money or the time.

Really good food! Gyro combo $9.25. Slightly pricey but good quality. Get a seat by the window and tuck in to authentic Greek gyros made and served by actual Greeks. Will be back.
