I would say you get what youd expect for a little operation, but then I would be lying. What a pleasant surprise I have whenever I stop in. I usually stop in after golfing so Im pretty thirsty. Well their ice cold coolers keep the bottles nice and cold. But the real surprise is the food. I have sat in there enjoying a cold one, watching the TV and here comes the cook up from the basement with a whole pork loin. He proceeds to personally cut the loin in front of you and then grills it right there. Still not convinced? Let me tell you something. I have ordered that pork loin sandwich a couple times, but the wing and sauce is excellent too. By the way, if you order fries, they take one of those huge Idaho spuds and put it in one of those hand operated potato cutters and cut thick fries in front of you. Drop those in the hot oil and voila, heaven on earth! I have only been there in the afternoons after golf...never in the evening. The afternoons are quiet and friendly. The fella (big fella) with the pony tail works hard at his craft (cooking). Im getting hungry.

We stopped in here after a ride in the towpath. We wait 5 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us. Then we were directed to the upstairs deck and sat ourselves. We had to ask to see menus and the waiter said it would be a least half an hour for food, trying to discourage us from even ordering. Were in no hurry so we wait and order some bad fried food and a mediocre burger. This is on the owners. The wait staff seemed nice enough, but not trained in customer service. Skip this and go to one of the ice cream places that serve food or Miller-Doans Tavern one block North. This is not a one off, this place has consistently rotten service.

We came here as a group after canoing. At first it seemed ok, but after simply asking where our order was the waiter bit our head off. We all ordered appetizers, yet everyones food came out. Then the appetizers. Half the group didnt receive food until the other half was already done eating. The orders were completely wrong. Ok for a po dunk place but the service was horrible.

Have had several items off the menu, everything has been good. Prices are great 2 burgers, fries and beers for $20! $8 strip steak meal thats tender and juicy. They gave me plastic ware to eat with and the steak was tender enough for the task!

This place is fantastic. Staff is excellent. Some of the best food around. And not just the typical bar food. Try the spicy pork chops! Sitting out on the deck overlooking the canal, sipping on a cold beer on a sunny day. What else do you want?

Most of the staff is super friendly. Food is good and you can watch them make everything. The best part is that Hal usually has several craft beers on tap. Yeah, you wouldnt know it from the outside, but they have good taste in beer!
