I very much enjoyed the service and the meal I got from the Barley House. My waitress was attentive. I received service with a smile. She came back to check on how I was doing 4 times. She asked me how my meal was, if I needed more ice tea, the list goes on. The burger I got was was juicy , a little more barbecue sauce would have been nice, I could have asked , If I had ,I am sure my waitress would have brought me some. Also the burger was cooked to my liking. I just went to see Janes addiction last night in Cleveland. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a diet soda from a shop up there. The bill came to a little over $9. I didnt receive that big of a portion and the sandwich was tasteless and the bread was so soggy that I couldnt pick it up. After the show I went to well known franchise company that also does shakes. The place was a mess , the service was very poor, the fries were cold and the burger was almost gone after four bites. That cost me $8 . Now the burger at the Barley House cost me $10.25. Comparatively ,I would need three of the burgers I got at the shake shop to make one from the Barley House. So for me , the Barley House wins with both hands down. Which reminds me, I had to use two hands to eat the burger at the Barley House. I felt that I was eating finger snacks at the other. I just read some of the reviews from other clients and it looks like its a mixed bag.To loud, slow service, things of that nature. Those are things that the management team at the Barley House can resolve with some effort. My experience was that the visit was very favorable .So dont let the negative reviews regarding this establishment deter you from a really good burger. I will be going back again for more Barley Burgers. Side note. I went there after the lunch crowd so it wasnt busy. Be seeing you soon again, a full bellied happy customer.

My uncle used to swear by this place. It may have been the end of the night but youre night guards were extremely hostile towards me. I was uninformed that the bar was closing, and had been allowed to exchange a dollar for quarters which was knowingly for a game of pool. As soon as I had entered my change into the table(hadnt even had the opportunity to rack), two bouncers came up to me and demanded abandoning my table and leaving because the bar was closing. I hadnt been causing problems, I came in, drank my two beers and was ready for a game of billiards before heading home. Only person Id spoken to was the bartender. Now, since I was unable to use the table at all, I simply asked to have my dollar back then so I could take my money elsewhere for the night, makes sense right? Apparently not because I was told no and that if I didnt leave that they would call the police and have them remove me. Okay, if I had been belligerent and drunk and was making an idiot out of myself, I understand, but that wasnt the case, I was actually making an attempt to be kind and understanding given he had been working a 19 hour shift. Instead of mutual respect i was bullied by meat head in a security shirt. Dont waste your time here, 69 taps is just down the road with a wider selection and better prices and a staff that is actually welcoming. That is where I will be taking my business from here out

I was in the Barley House on Downtown Akron Ohio and I was trying to order something for me and my friend, I chose a seat and proceeded to find a waitress to order I asked a barperson if I could have someone to meet me at my seat to take my order, and all of a sudden a man approached me and said "we dont serve that area, you have to go to the bar and order food!!!" So I proceeded to the bar a man in the same area said "well they didnt have to go to the bar to get their food!!!" talking about another group of people in the same area as I was. So, I went back to the 1st man and asked the nature " why do I, and why didnt they" and he said they came early for that particular service, and they stopped doing that because of the amout of people in the bar!!! As he was speaking the waitress came and got orders and brought food for the same people as I said earlier that was in the same area I was in!!! I then looked for management, but I was sent to the person that was not truthful to me, when I asked why in the beginning: ONE question WHAT SHOULD I DO ???? W

starting from the door terrible! the host didnt have a clue on this planet on how to be a host. Never made eye contact, didnt greet us NOTHING! finally got to the table and the server never introduces herself, no name and she never asked have we ever been there (this was my first experience) our drinks were supposed to be long island ice teas and they tasted like water down pop, the bartender did fix those, burger was good until a piece of hair was found on the plate. server was all around terrible terrible she ate on the job, talked to other servers instead of checking on her tables, we then paid our bill and went to leave the server chased us down to ask if the bill was all set when clearly we put cash in our books, then she asked were we sure and was the book back there... did you look? I dont think so. if I was going to "skip" out on my bill because of horrible service I wouldnt have done it with you standing right there idiot I WILL NEVER EVER VISIT THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN! I rather go to BW3, euro gyro or something

Disappointing. Thats a simple summary of my most recent visit to the Barley House. What used to be a fun place to visit on a weekend night, complete with great food and service, has become a shell of its former self. For starers, the place was less than 1/3 full on a Saturday night. Yet the music was still so LOUD I couldnt even carry on a conversation with the people at my own table. The chicken wrap I ordered was mediocre at best. Half had absolutely no sauce, and was extremely dry. The other half had so much sauce it dripped out everywhere. The waitress was less than attentive. I had to ask multiple times for a glass of water. And to top it off, she came to our table and asked to cash us out, and then shorted me on my change by $1.58. Needless to say I wont be back any time soon. There are so many other places downtown that are better.

4.5 stars MON Evening. ‘Wing Night’. LARGE place, sat at the bar. “Matt” was the barkeep. CROWD: Younger – influence of the university – but not so much so that we felt out of place (at all). SERVICE: Very Good - left 5 & some change on 15. FOOD: Tried the Hot Garlic Parm wings and on recommendation of barkeeper – Cajun ranch. Both highly recommended (hot garlic parm is first choice)… Wings were CRISP, cooked, fresh, and with CORRECT amount of sauce. Thank YOU. Been a few years since I was here – the menu seems to have changed and I see a future visit to try some other items on the menu. PRICE: Wing Night – cheap. PLUSES – Barkeep. Clean(er) than most bars. Good bathroom. SOMEONE KNOWS HOW TO ACTUALLY COOK WINGS. MINUSES: Plastic cups (for drinks). Bottom-line – will return with in the next month.
