I ordered take out from Nine Dragons. 3 minutes after I ordered, I called them back to request that the gravy be on the side and not on the egg foo young. I know if was 3 minutes because I checked my phone. First call was 8:05 and lasted 4 minutes till 8:09. Second call was made at 8:13 to request gravy on the side. When I arrived for my order it was not correct. The "so called" manager arrived at the drive up window and told me the cook had already made the egg foo young and had added the gravy. I told him I would wait for a new item to be cooked. He told me that in order to get my item remade, I would need to pay for both orders of egg foo young. 9 dollars each. I told him that was not going to happen. I told him he was going to loose the entire 20.00 order and a life long customer and he said that would be fine. I asked for the owner and the manager told me it would do no good because the owner was the one that said how this was going to go. I left with out my food. Totally devastated!! I live out of town but was raised in FM area. I have been going to nine dragons my entire life. I called back to speak to the owner and he was even worse then the manager. I will NEVER go there again and wanted the public to know how unprofessional, rude, horrible and just totally wrong these two men were. Please be aware. Never place a special order!! Never expect these 2 men to be public friendly. Never go there unless you would like to be abused and disappointed. Susan

I went to them when they were "The Golden Phoenix". My great-grandma used to take me there since I could anything besides baby food. I am now 30 years old. I remember how heartbroken I was when I walked up to the door in So. Moorhead and the doors didnt open. Then we started going to the Fargo location by Scheels. A couple of years ago upon a visit to Fargo, I wanted my Chinese again and was informed of the new location and I had talked up this place to my husband before hand not knowing they had moved - I was so disappointed and totally embarrassed. Heartbroken again. The atmosphere was terrible - getting our food up at a counter on a tray, wobbly tables that werent clean and chairs that made that terrible noise when moving them across a tile floor. Not to mention being offered next to Pizza and co. They totally saw a marketing loophole here. Sad they had to take something and someplace so wonderful and turn it into what they have or at least have left the old place open which had atmosphere. The service was also terrible, especially since we werent accustomed to the "new ways" and were treated as if we were stupid. I crave "The Golden Phoenix" all the time, and it is so sad to know that even though the taste is still somewhat there, it will still never be the same and even more disappointing when I have to eat other" Chinese food.

Honestly this is the worst reviews Ive ever seen in the Fargo-Moorhead area for food, customer service, illness, and timeliness. Perhaps the worst Ive ever seen!!! It is actually better to see no reviews than all these bad reviews. I am not eating here based on the reviews. To the owner/management and staff: just so you are aware almost 60% of new customers read google reviews before going into or order food from a new restaurant, furthermore, the higher your reviews are the higher your name goes up on the list when someone enters key words into the google search bar. And finally, maybe you should think about selling the business before you have to close it. It is obviously not doing well if you cannot give customers a freebie when there is something amiss their order. Typically its worth the investment to keep the customer returning and now thanks to these reviews we all see...it means new customers arent coming. Thank you to all that warn us about this place and its habits.

I would never recommend this place to eat to anyone. The service is terrible and the managers are very rude. There food is far from the regular Chinese & they rip you off by switching your order. I ordered for delivery and did not receive what I ordered. When I called to let them know the manager told me that he was not going to deliver my actual order and that it was too bad. He was very rude and told me that he was not switching my order. He claimed that, that was what I ordered. He was rude from the start. He didnt ask me what size I wanted in things and was going to deliver a surplus of food costing almost 40 dollars. I had to ask what sizes were available or he was going to order the largest portions for me. I called a few days later to speak to a different manager about the problem and that manager took his word over mine (IM THE CUSTOMER!!) . In conclusion all he offered was a $5 gift card. I will never ever order from there and would never recommend 9 dragons to anyone.

I eat here quite often and have sampled items from both their american and chinese menu. The sauce on the generals seems different from all the other places in town, but I like it much better. Their honey sesame chicken is awesome and I have never been disappointed by the fried rice. It doesnt have any of the food coloring that all the other places in town seem to think is necessary to make it look appetizing either. Even the vegetarian dishes, such as singapore noodles, are all still very tasty! All the sandwiches are a solid choice and the pizzas are pretty good as well, especially the taco pizza. You get quite a bit of food for the price, whether Im dining in, using their drive thru, or getting it delivered. The dine in specials are usually awesome. They also recently added springrolls to their menu, and I could see becoming addicted to those!

There are some things that arent good on their menu.... but the things that are good are soooo good. Their wontons are delicious... the nine dragons fried rice HOT is my staple food... they are a little more spendy but if you dont get it delivered youll save a lot of money... my best advice... get the half and half wontons then the 9 dragon fried rice and mix the s&s sauce into the rice... it is the best food ever ill be leaving here in a few months for graduate school and this will be one of the restaurants ill miss the most... as long as you know what youre ordering you wont be let down... the 9 dragon fried rice will serve me a good portion about 3 or 4 times meaning leftovers are plentiful- and im a big guy (~220 lbs) 9 dragons, if you reading this, thanks for the great food

This was by far the WORST Chinese food we have ever ordered. The Mongolian Beef was something I have never seen before. It came with a bland, runny, pink colored sauce and was basically onions with a few shreds of beef thrown in. It had zero flavor and was horrible. As I opened the fried rice I thought that for sure this dish couldnt be messed up...I was wrong. The rice looked as if it was fried on an old cast iron skillet that needed to be cleaned and everything tasted like a dirty grill. It was hardly edible. The only thing that we could choke down was the chicken and broccoli which had good vegetables, but still had the burnt grill taste permeating through it. They definitely lost our business, which is sad, since 9 Dragons used to be a great place to order from.
