We stayed the night at a nearby hotel and I googled restaurants near by and Mr. Barbecue came up. After reading some of the reviews we decided to try it out! We were so glad we did! The food was really good, nice southern BBQ. I love the old feel of ordering at the counter and taking your food on a tray to your table. The only reason I give them a 4 star, is we ordered a slice pate, 3 rib plates and 2- 2pc chicken plates, the last meals to come out were the chicken and those were for the kiddos, my sons didnt arrive until everyone was done eating :(. Although it was hot and fresh, the wait was hard for him and everyone was sharing with him, because he was hungry.

From the outside everything looked GREAT. Inside, you start to sense that this is one of those iconic places that refuses to age and change with time (love places like this). Prices are not expensive. However, the food was just average. They have a bakery case with pies in it. The pecan looked great so we all got a piece of what we thought would be HOMEMADE pecan pie. Disappointed when the girl took at the Sysco Pecan Pie box and started cutting up pieces. Also, the BBQ sauces on the table are from the grocery store. Overall, very disappointed, but still better than a fast food restaurant.

The is certainly one of the best BBQ places in the Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point, and Lexington area. There are many good BBQ restaurants, and each does something well, in general. The big thing here at Mr. Barbecue is the meat. Its better than all others in this area, and Ive literally tried the vast majority of them. You may not like their meat (meaning: the way they prepare it), but we are tired of all the other top notch restaurants whose product tastes great, but later just causes indigestion. Try Mr. Barbecue for something different and we hope much better than your usual.

After placing our order we waited for our food at the counter. No big deal, right? Wrong! We begin to notice that caucasian customers food was being delivered to the table! Yet, each African American that ate in, counter waited on their food. We were there at least two hours, and this happened The whole time! Im a strong believer in customer service! The only thing I enjoyed most, was the company and conversation with my aunt!

This lunch stop was a fantastic surprise on the way up I-85. The service was friendly, the place was clean, and most importantly, the food was phenomenal. Expect large portion sizes, and make sure to grab yourself a side of hush puppies. Additionally, the restrooms were clean and well-kept. Hope to find an excuse to stop by here again, even though its quite a few hours away.

Carolina style pulled pork BBQ, very much not my style, but friends who are from around here say its very good. They do have hamburgers which are decent. Home made banana pudding is described by others as the best in Winston Salem, but get there early, as it is often sold out well before closing time. Other home made desserts also available Staff is friendly and helpful

This place is well established in Winston-Salem. Its not modern or trendy, the plain and simple truth of it is they have the ABSOLUTE BEST BBQ in the area. I have been to "Little Richards" they are a chain and it is more often then not hit and miss on quality and taste. Mr. Bbq is consistent in flavor, prices are perfect. I hope this place never changes!

We are from out of town. We had fried chicken, hot dog, flounder, and BBQ meal and peach cobbler. Food was hot cobbler was cold Hush puppies were great. Cole slaw was decent. Fish was a bit under cooked on one piece. The rest was pretty good. I think we will come back and try it again. Cost was on point and good for large and small families.

I cant speak for the whole menu but if youre going for the ribs and BBQ.. DONT especially if your expecting Eastern Carolina BBQ! BBQ was greasy and coverd in some kind of sauce that doesnt match well, had to add vinegar to mine and the Ribs were bland, so seasoning just meat with the same sauce.... Avoid... My stomach is in knots

My wife and I stopped because we wanted BBQ. We went in gave our orders and sit down. When we got it I thought it was going to be great but it wasnt great it was probably between average and great. It could have been the sauce not agreeing with me. I would give Me. Barbecue.

First of all the barbeque (pork) is excellent, though a little wetter than east Carolina style, its every bit as good. Portions are generous: a plate with chopped pork,hush puppies, fries and (red) slaw was only $8.50. its worth a visit. Great food and service.

Dont let the simple building fool you. This place has good bbq, slaw, and hushpuppies. During my week in WS visited twice at lunch and enjoyed their specials tremendously. Certainly didnt sacrifice quality for value.

They need to take the ribs off the menu. You dont get your money worth. The ribs where swimming in barbecue sauce. I asked if I could get the ribs without sauce and they said no and wouldnt give me my money back

Ok BBQ, my sandwich was a bit fatty and I (as someone who hates black pepper) was disappointed that the slaw was full of pepper. Great hush puppies!
