i am new to the area and i tried them one evening and while i was waiting to order a heavyset lady came from around the corner screaming at the employees she must have been a manager i felt so bad for them and it made all the customers uncomfortable too--my chicken was a little dry also but the mac and cheese was yummy--i wont go back though--UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE-- I TRIED THEM AGAIN AND I GOT THE SAME CRAPPY SERVICE FROM THE SAME HEAVYSET WOMAN--AND THE SAME DRIED FOOD THE TRUKEY WAS HORRIBLE!!! I HAD TO USE A TON OF THE SAUCE TO GIVE IT ANY MOISTURE AND NO I DO NOT WATCH HELLS KITCHEN--BUT THIS PLACE COULD BE IT-ALSO AFTER LOOKING AT THESE REVIEWS I AM HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT YALL MUST WRITE YOUR OWN-THEY ARE UNBELIEVABLE

I used Honky Tonk catering recently & boy, did it make life easy. They delivered the food to my home in special boxes designed to keep everything hot. All I had to do was set it out buffet style. The sweet potato tater tots were a hit. The veggie dip was proclaimed “really, really good.” The slider rolls (smaller version of hamburger bun) weren’t just some cheap white bread. Everyone welcomed the smoked turkey in addition to the traditional pork. Everyone liked everything. It’s fun to cook for people. It’s fun to have potlucks. It’s also fun to just let someone else do all the work so you can enjoy your friends & family. If you have a special occasion coming up, talk to the fine people at Honky Tonk. They’ll do you right.

Had heard rave reviews on the BBQ at this place especially the ribs, so I went around 12noon to get some fresh hot ribs for my family for dinner.. But as I was in line behind other patrons I thought I heard that they didnt have any ribs ready.. I was like WTH..so I waited to find detailed information out from the cashier..NOPE..no ribs until about 2pm was told to me.. I ordered something else just for me but went to another BBQ place and purchased ribs.. who opens without ribs... I was highly disappointed and dont know own if I ever will go back to try the ribs.. so good luck if u decide to visit..or call ahead to make sure they have them before driving 25 minutes..4/21/16

I was a little skeptical when I realized this is not the typical vinegar based BBQ I was used to. But after one bite any doubt went out the window. This BBQ is tender and tastes amazing! I got the sandwich combo that comes with ribs and I think they just might be the best ribs I have ever had. The slaw is absolutely great and Im very picky about slaw. My only complaint at all would be that I wish they had a dining area. It is take out only. But the food is well worth it. The owner has taken my order before and he is always very friendly which makes it even better. You gotta try this place!!

Honky Tonk Smokehouse catered for our wedding recently. Both the food and the service were superb! Susan and her team were extremely friendly and did lots of things we did not ask or expect them to do! They really did go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that our guests were well fed and well cared for, and that my husband and I were free to enjoy the reception without having anything to worry about. We received many comments about how delicious the food was - the brisket was a definite favorite. If you need catering for an event, I would highly recommend Honky Tonk Smokehouse!

This experience was the best. The owner, staff, restaurant and above all else, the food items were the best weve had in 15 years of exploring BBQ restaurants in the Triad. The flavor, quality, the huge variety of sauces sets this restaurant above the rest. Since everything comes in plates, sandwiches, and sliders, its easy to try a variety of the delicious meats. We are pulled pork fanatics, which was great, but the brisket was the best Ive ever eaten - tender and delicious. But there is also chicken, turkey, and smoke sausage. Treat yourself and eat this food!

My family just moved to Winston-Salem, and it has been hard to find a good BBQ that isnt chopped super fine with vinegar as my only sauce option. Honky Tonk Smokehouse was just what I was looking for. I loved rough chopped smoked turkey and so far this is the only place I have found that does it this way. The meet and sauces are good and so are the sides. The family who runs the restaurant is very friendly and accommodating.

The meat is not dry, just not drowned in sauce like some others. Personally, I slightly prefer mustard based sauce, but this red sauce they have is really good and better than any vinegar based sauce I have had in this area. Portions were good and the price is right. We got enough slaw, meat, buns, sauce, and fries to feed 4 adults for ~ $16. This is my new favorite takeout BBQ spot from now on.

Family run business serving delicious bbq in winston salem. The pulled pork tastes so good you dont need the sauce, but the sauce is an added bonus. My wife, who is from Texas, raved about the brisket and loved all the sides. I highly recommend this for your next family gathering or just a night of bbq. Keep in mind they do not have a seating area. It is only take out.

Had the beef brisket sandwich and it is absolutely the best this side of Kansas City. I love Lexington style BBQ, but if you want a different taste, Honky Tonks is the best barbecue around. The staff were courteous and quick. I am like another poster and wish there was a dining area. But this is great for me to take home some good food after work.

Our business, Nu expression loves to order from Honky Tonk Smokehouse. The food is delicious and affordably priced. Our office is very close proximity so it is easy to pick up. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. We definitely would recommend this to anyone in the area for regular meals OR for any catering needs that you might have.

I hate leaving a 3 star review because the food is really good and the owner was very nice and helpful, but I wouldnt return here. I cant go to 4 stars if I wouldnt come back. Im still hungry after leaving and I wish I had more. The portions were kind of small. Change that and you guys have the best tasting BBQ Ive had around here.

We might have found a new favorite smokehouse! We took the food to go this time and it was still really good when we got home. The sauce was tangy with a little spice and the smoked meats were...well...smokey and delicious. Well have to make use of the nice looking dinning room next time.

Staying down in winston on business and happened to stumble upon this place in Google. I have to say the brisket sandwich was the best Ive ever had anywhere! Thick cut and tender as can be. The bbq sauces were amazing. Love this place!!

Food is very good. Portions a bit small. The prices went up, small portions stayed the same? Still no bread in my meal. But this food is so Tasty. mac & cheese is home made and collards are good. Ribs & Brisket are delicious.
