Passing through Raleigh on vacation and wanted to find a interesting spot for lunch that had vegetarian and vegan options for some of my family. The place is cute..a little warm in July with only fans but ok. However, that is where our good experience went south. It was Sunday so half the menu is not available...that means you can only pick from the brunch menu which I wish we had known before being seated. Brunch options were a little spendy for what you get. I ordered the French toast which was a BIG mistake. Three slices arrived and two of them were burnt to a crisp. That was bad enough but the fact that they tried to hide REALLY burnt French toast under some whipped cream was even worse. Add that the toast was also hard and flat and you get the idea. When the waitress asked about the food, I was nice but showed her how burnt the slices were and I honestly think she wasnt sure what to do. I have never sent food back but it really wasnt very appetizing. Awhile later, our waitress returned and asked if I would like another slice and I said that would be nice. So that is exactly what I got... one slice that was not burnt...forget that the order was supposed to be three slices for $10. No apologies...No, "hey. we made you a new order"..No "Hey, we will give you a discount on your bill"...I was charged full price. I also paid $6 for my 8 year-old daughters lunch which consisted of two small pieces of sandwich ham rolled up and a couple strawberries. Having worked in in the restaurant industry, this is no way to run a good business ....so in short - this spot was definitely not the remedy for us.

Vegetarian & especially vegan options are plentiful. Service is unbelievably slow (which they attempt to warn you of on the menu), but staff is friendly and accomodating. Mimosas are mostly OJ, so ask for less juice when you order them. Beer isnt listed anywhere so you have to keep asking servers what is available. Lemon tahini dressing is horribly inedible, balsamic vinaigrette is sweet, ranch (regular) is good. You have to request the pickle spears, so dont forget when you order your sandwich. Vegan Eastern NC BBQ sandwich wasnt bad but left something to be desired when it comes to their purple cabbage coleslaw on it (which honestly needs more mayo instead of vinegar in it and of which I had to request an additional side of since hardly any was on my sandwich). Dont cut your sandwich in half or it will fall apart. Kaiser roll is seeded with black sesame and good, but could use some light toasting for sandwich stability. Fiction Kitchens BBQ is better and tastes more like authentic Eastern NC vinegar-based BBQ. I found a hair on the side of my plate. Side salad is great. French fries are super tasty here and have a light seasoning on them. Black bean burger is decently good. Volcano vegetarian chicken patty sandwich with buffalo sauce is a little zingy spicy but needs more sauce and more gorgonzola cheese. Tofu salad large and yummy in how simple it is. Local art adorns the walls and the bathrooms have an eclectic feel with their raunchy murals. There is some outdoor seating located in the back of the restaurant, but beware of the perilous step down when you re-enter the restaurant.

The food is incredibly over-priced and the service is absolutely terrible. The wait staff shuffles around like pretentious zombies with much better things to do than help anyone or check on any of their tables. Everything is price-gouged for what it is, and the garage-like setting in which it is served. Portions are small and of course the de facto side is chips, which you can of course sub out for something else- for a hefty upcharge. The best thing they have, the vegan BBQ, they run out of frequently. If youd like an herbal tea, you can get one for $4 a bag which I would understand if we were in New York or even a good restaurant in Raleigh with good service. Ive been in the service industry for nearly 20 years and given Remedy 4 or 5 chances, plus ordered takeout from them so this isnt a one-time based review. Ill never go there again though. Go to Fiction Kitchen if youre vegan or vegetarian- or Irregardless Café, or any type of "ethnic" food but dont go to Remedy unless you dont mind overpaying for being underwhelmed and thoroughly ignored.

Small restaurant, fair amount of vegan/vegetarian options, kinda pricey. I ordered the "No Huevos" Rancheros. The flavor was great but the plating was bad and the amount of food was lacking in my opinion. The "meat" was completely covering the 2 4in corn tortillas, which made it really difficult to eat as the tortillas were soggy, covered with red sauce, and small in size. Off to the side of the plate there were broken small tortilla chips. The the pieces of chips together probably equaled about 4-5 chips. Then there was a small dollop of guacamole and a few tbps of diced tomatoes and a couple strips of lettuce. The plate costs $12 and had a lot of things wrong with it. From the description on the menu, I assumed you would get maybe 3-4 tortillas and build your soft taco/burrito. And maybe some chips and salsa on the side. All in all it was okay, but I wont be ordering again. Im really glad to see a restaurant with a fair amount of vegan/vegetarian options. Im debating coming again, perhaps is was just an off day.

Just had the pleasure of eating at Raleighs newest Vegetarian-ish restaurant. Great atmosphere, very cozy, & awesome menu! It was so refreshing as a vegetarian to finally have a place with OPTIONS aside from the typical salad/port. sandwich/or veggie burger if the place is "super hip." Please. This is a place with REAL vegetarian options, faux-Reubens, vegan chicken salad, faux-BLTs, I could go on and on, there are so many great options. And, dont worry omnivores, theres plenty for you, too. The waitstaff was very friendly, the young lady was polite but not obnoxious or overbearing and kept the refills comin (a peeve of mine if I have to beg for a refill.) Parking can seem intimidating, especially at lunch time, but there is a pretty good sized parking lot right next to The Remedy for a buck an hour if you dont fancy street parking. I give this place two very big thumbs up and have my fingers crossed that the people of Raleigh will embrace it.

My girlfriend and I have tried a few places in Raleigh and found this place to be delicious because we both were craving different things. Our waiter had a pony tail and beard, cant remember his name but he was cool and knowledgeable regarding the menu. So we started with the fried broccoli. They literally bring you they entire stalk! For dinner we shared bbq "pork" tacos, a black bean burger, spaghetti and "meatballs", a Reuben, AND topped it off with a chocolate cake and peanut butter chocolate pie. All though I am vegan and my girl friend is not we both realize there is nothing healthy about this place and yes we are both with in our proper average weight for our height. I also love the fact they have a promotion when you pay with cash every twenty dollars you spend you get a stamp and five stamps get you get a FREE dollar gift card. I recommend this restaurant for all people vegan or not.
