Today I had lunch with a friend at one of my favorite restaurants in Hendersonville. I have been coming here since it opened. Although the food is still excellent, the last few times I have been here I have seen the staff has declined. Our waitress was the pits...She threw I bill on the table before asking us if we wanted anything else. Coffee please, dessert menu. 3 times that was asked. Finally got the coffee, no cream. 3 more times for the cream. Then she ignored us. Upon leaving I walked out with my glass of ice tea in my hand (Couldnt get a to go cup) and ALAS! I was stopped asking if I wanted a to go glass. We then asked for the manager, the same woman who stopped me said she was and told her about the waitress and she got defensive saying the waitress was new. New, not knowing the ropes has nothing to due with rude, evasive and having an attitude. She should get out of this employment. What happened to all the great servers and hostess that used to be there! Had to give 1 star for the service, staff and 5 stars though still for the food. Owner needs to get on top of this one, in Hendersonville everyone talks!

We are locals and frequent this restaurant in the busy, touristy months, and the slow months, when only the locals are in town. Last night we waited 45 minutes plus for a table. When we were finally seated we ordered bread and marinara, which they charge $5 for, consisting of at most 5 slices of bread and a small cup of marinara, a salad and a small pizza. The server told us it would take 20 minutes for the pizza. Ended up being over that. We had a few pieces of bread left and a small bit of marinara left, plus a few slices of pizza. We asked for a box for all and wanted some extra marinara, which weve done before, no problem. When we got the bill, she had charged me extra for the marinara!!! We had NEVER been charged extra for that! Nobody else in town charges for bread. We have supported this retaurant in the good times and the bad times but this is pure greed! You have a packed restaurant and you want to charge for something that I already ordered???? I could maybe have forgiven a new server for this but this girl has been there a long time. Greedy!!

Im wondering what is going on here as the place isnt what it once was. I used to always love going here when visiting friends in HVL. The service and food quality was always very good. The last two times I went the pizza was under cooked (looked like oven temperature was too low) and the ingredient quality went way down. My topping didnt look like high quality fresh and instead looked like basic food service stuff. Is it just me or is the menu smaller as well? West First get your quality back up or you will loose a customer.

I gave 3 stars because the staff is inherently rude. All the way from the hostesses to the chefs. I can say that the food quality is excellent except for the tea. A lot of local microbrews. Dont call and expect a straight answer. I have been enjoying this restaurant since they were over in flat rock. Wish they were as nice now as they were then. I wouldnt flag down a waitstaff either. Oh, and box your own left overs. Food is extremely excellent but be prepared for rude and condescending attitudes.

While on break from working my booth at the festival, I ran down here to grab a quick bite. Knowing it would be busy due to the festival, I asked the hostess about placing a togo order, She greeted me with a warm "hello!!" And offered a menu. I place my order, which was an avocado blt and a house salad, nothing heinous... Amongst a SLAMMED dining room, and a half hour wait, the hostess was poised, tactful, and focused. A divine Trinity, if you ask me. Way to go, West First. Yall killed it!!

Good pizza. Enjoyed the crust. Bit chewy yet crisp. Top notch ingredients. Place is loud and a bit unnerving. Lots of drunk white people crowding the entry way. Plastic seats are uncomfortable. Sitting on the mezzanine causes a slowdown on service but still decent enough. Unsure if 40 min wait was worth it on a Friday. I got the greek pizza, wife got pepperoni and roasted garlic pizza. The carrot cake was delicious, albeit a bit drier than Ive had and I felt the need to hunt for some icing.

This place is the best. Every time I go there everyone is very nice and helpful. Definitely a place with character. To me it just is loaded with fun and artistic atmosphere and I also love how it is sort of decorated with a industrial lofty area. If you go there for a date or outing with some friends I would totally recommend sitting in the upper area because it is more secluded and has a large window to see out on to the street. Overall its a very tasty and excellent place to eat.

We stopped in for lunch today, a rainy and gloomy day in the mountains. Our mood lightened immediately. We were greeted warmly, seated near the open pizza oven so we could watch the kitchen and wait staff prepare the meals. My chicken salad sandwich and side salad tasted so fresh- especially the crusty bread. My husband had a pepperoni pizza and salad. Best pizza weve had in the area! And my organic tea was delightful. We will be back again.

Did NOT live up to reviews. A decent pizza, but unimpressive for brick oven pizza. Local friends of a friend suggested this place but Im used to much better pizzas for far less money in St. Louis. Place was packed, a half hour wait half an hour after opening. Bread was $3 which Id never seen before, but was quite good. OK but not worth the money in my opinion. However, my S.O. got the pasta on special and loved it.

I have eaten here multiple times and have never been disappointed. The wood-fired pizzas are delicious...you wont even leave little pieces of crust. The restaurant decor is loft-chic with a beautiful mosaic covered open wood fire oven. They have just added a new elevated outdoor patio. Because West First is popular, go early or late to avoid a wait. Service is very good. Daily specials are also very good.

Its was really good food. Full of flavors and fresh ingredients. It is a more on the expensive end, but the atmosphere is a great one. The server we had and the ones around were all wonderful and nice. Had the lamb pizza and my lady had the veggie. The ingredients in the veggie were amazing and I am definitely not a veggie pizza kinda guy. Anyways great place to go if you dont know where you want to go.

I called inquiring about a group reservation for roughly 30 guests. The employee who answered the phone wasnt the least helpful or accommodating to any of the inquiring questions I had. Employee stated "well we just dont accommodate large parties like that--youd have to all be split on at least 3 tables, and no we dont do any reservations cause its our busy season." wow.
