From Ballparks to BBQ
The buffet isnt huge, but I felt like there was plenty to chose from - especially for the very reasonable price of $7.95. They offered two kinds of basmati rice, chicken curry, roasted tandoori chicken with peppers & onions, tandoori chicken with a creamy tomato sauce, korma curry, and a variety of vegetables that were prepared in different ways. There was a small salad bar, which also had fruit, chocolate mousse, & rice pudding. AND - they bring you a basket of garlic naan! Im sure there are more appropriate names and descriptions of the food, but Im not an expert and didnt really study the descriptions of the dishes. I was a huge fan of the curry and the two tandoori dishes. The curry and the tandoori with the cream sauce went great on top of the rice and the roasted chicken had a great skin and tasted like a really good rotisserie chicken. The garlic naan was delicious as well - and I particularly liked it with the tzatziki-like sauce (which was much better than the ranch dressing I accidentally got). I wasnt too fond of some of the vegetables (particularly the fried broccoli) or the rice pudding, but the chocolate mousse and orange slices served as a nice ending. The service was very good and the atmosphere is cool. Its not the tacky Bollywood look that some Indian places have and there is plenty of space to handle busy crowds. As always with downtown restaurants, parking is a bit of an issue, but this is a good change of pace from many downtown Roanoke spots.

Most delicious Indian Ive ever tasted! Ive had Indian food all over the world. This is the best (For me. People looking for less westernized Indian food may prefer Tazaas on Franklin). Service is fantastic. My family is always remembered and welcomed warmly. The Buffet dishes tend to get more of the dark meat in them but its still amazing food at a very fair price. One time I was in the mood for an extremely hot curry and requested it to have it "Indian hot but hotter" (their "Indian hot" is very hot but still maintaining flavor). I specified it to have a thick sauce not thin. I was asked three times if thats what I really wanted. They brought me exactly what I had asked for. They even gave me a gift card for finishing the dish. The new decor is modern and fresh but classy. I would recommend for any occasion whether business lunch, date or family get-together. Also if you are on a date, new to Indian cuisine or just unsure what to order then I would highly recommend the Dinner for two.

In town for work TX. Found this hidden gem in downtown close to my hotel. They start you off with a green sauce and what appears to be like a hard tortilla, but its a light tasty cracker that you just cant stop eating. The staff is Indian and they were so nice and I had no idea what to order, so I asked my server to bring me whatever he was going to have for dinner. Ordered the goat Biriani and it was great. A little spicy and bones throughout the dish, but I really enjoyed it. It comes with a white sauce that looks like cream, but not sure what it is and its really great with the dish. This place opened up my palate and now desire to try more dishes. Thank you for making my visit to Roanoke memorable.

In my opinion; the best place in town. Local roots comes in second to this. A vegetarian has a hard time finding a place that doesnt sneak in fish sauce or such... but this place is solid. The worst experiance Ive ever had still delivered a great meal. The wait staff is friendly, the spicy will set your mouth on fire; everything I want from an indian meal. Comparable (but not quite as good): saffron and tandoor (both in greensboro). This place is way up on the list of "must". The lunch buffet is also stellar.

Went to Roanoke on business... tried Nawab based on customer reviews, and loved it! Wonderful dinner menu, perfect service, portions are great, food is terrific. I went back for their lunch, and had the same experience! Today was my last day in Roanoke, absolutely had to go back one last time... perfect again. Prices are reasonable, ambiance is great for business meeting, date, casual friends... I have abosolutely nothing negative to report, and that is rare.

Worst Indian restaurant ever in US. First, We have waited for 50 minutes for the food. Second, horrible taste. We have ordered chicken biriyani. There was no salt or spice. Just plain tamoto rice. Chicken pieces were not cooked properly and tastes like Raw. To make the experience more worst, there is no free parking and paid $8 for paid parking. Dont ever give it a try for this awful restaurant. Worst...worst...worst...please consider as zero star ratings

Came in last night around 9.05 pm greeted by very rude wait staff before even getting a table he asked we should place order fast because restaurant will be closing in 15 minutes . We asked waiter isnt your restaurant closing at 10 pm ??? We still have almost an hour ??? His response was do you want to dine in or not ...with this kind of greeting we decided to go somewhere else..... since we didnt had a food i cant comment on the food .......

The food was really good but the service left something to be desired. We placed a take out order and our drink was forgotten. We had to ask for it and the take out cup was only half filled. The staff also forgot to include plasticware. We will give them another try because this may have been an off night.

Terrific food. The spices are sensational. I lived in Britain for 13 years, so am very picky about Indian cuisine. This is one of the best. My wife and I visit Nawab every time we travel through Roanoke, and have done so for perhaps 7 years (sadly only once or twice per year). I highly recommend them.

I am an Indian. Went to this restaurant while on a business trip to Roanoke, because of the many high recommendations. The food was mediocre at best and the service was awful. I ordered one chicken entree and one naan, it took them about 45 minutes to serve it. Will not go there again.

Has been great for quite a long time. However one visit, I ordered the Bryani and it came out of the kitchen in a plastic tub which the waiter then turned upside down in my plate and served it. It was disappointing and discusting. But in general I really like this place.

Actually their is no zero rating on rating scale I gave them 1 . I food is so horrible we ordered 1 veg and 2 chicken biryanis. The spice levels are so high. We left with half feeded food. My recommendation for restaurant is make food according to customer requirement.

Ive been there before and its been top notch! But this time the food was barely warm. There wasnt hardly any spicy/heat to my food. And the silverware was dirty. I will say the garlic naan was exceptional! And they mixed me a drink off the menu and it was terrific!
