This place was terrible. Skip and eat somewhere else! All of these positive reviews must be fakes. I have never felt so betrayed by Google reviews in my life. No soda machine, no silver wear, no real plates, no real cups, sides were clearly from a can, and meat was laughable. I was willing to give this place a shot because I would really like to support small locally owned restaurants. So I did, and I absolutely regret it. Ill begin with what was good, and I can only name one thing. The lady that waited on us was nice. I ordered the baby back ribs, mac & cheese, baked beans, and green beans. First complaint, they have no soda fountain machine. Which I believe is a must for a restaurant. If youd like a soda they can sell you a can. Which is a joke. Also, if youd like tea theyd be happy to pour you some from the pitcher that is sitting openly on the counter. They provide Styrofoam plates and plastic silver wear as well. Seriously, Id expect to purchase a can of soda with a hotdog from a street vendor, not a restaurant that Ive come to sit down at and have a nice meal. But besides all of that, if the food was spectacular I could live with the lack of the most basic restaurant amenities, but the food was terrible. They only sell 3 types of (homemade) BBQ sauce, which I will just say was questionable at best. I am not one to experiment with my food and I prefer the tried and true. They didnt have any type of (reliable) standard BBQ sauce, only their homemade stuff which I was not willing to risk, so I ate my ribs dry. The lack of even a 99 cent bottle of dollar general BBQ sauce was astonishing. The ribs were mediocre at best. Mildly tough, and they had a strong taste of charcoal. Honestly, I have had much better at Chiles or Outback. Of course, the lack of sauce didnt help at all. The mac n cheese was the only homemade thing I had, and it was awful. Overcooked macaroni with shards of burnt cheese throughout. Barely edible in my opinion. The baked beans had an oddly familiar Bushs baked beans taste, and quite obviously were from a can that was purchased at the local Wall-mart. The green beans were from a can as well and they had a strong taste of salt, which is indicative of canned green beans. In summary, I am all for mom and pop outfits, so long as the food is good. But I will not give this place multiple stars or pretend that their food is not disgusting just for the sake of supporting a small business. Really, if you want good food food you would be best served by going somewhere else. Also, the neighborhood this place is located in looks very shady, and I am glad I went during the day. I would definitely avoid at night! I would also be curious as to when the last time the health inspector paid them a visit, because this place was filthy. I felt betrayed by all of the misleading reviews and I felt compelled to lead you away and save you from what I had to experience. Youve been warned!

I have ate barbecue all over the country. Ive even been to the renowned BBQ festival in Lexington, NC. This place has the best bbq Ive had that my father wasnt the cook of. The meat has a nice rub, simply smoked. We both had the chopped bbq plate with the tomato based sauce. I think for the price you dont get a lot in terms of your sides, but the food is excellent and still worth all the while. The baked beans arent too sweet, and goes well with the hash and meat. The style of mac and cheese isnt my number one choice, but it is still delicious and a personal preference. All in all, dont let appearances fool you. This little place serves up some big flavor. Definitely was worth the drive from the Lake Murray area and miles ahead of the other bbq places Ive tried around the Columbia area.

I really liked this restaurant the first time I had it. The second time (Yesterday) was the worst. I ordered two chicken plates one white and one dark. They did give two leg quarters because they were small. My chicken breast was dry and bland and the vinegar based sauce did not help, the collards were too sweet and salty I could not eat them and the Mac and cheese was just ok. Their vinegar based sauce did not really have a taste so I tried putting it on the collards to break up some of the seasoning but that made them worse. I think that will be my last time patronizing True BBQ. I would rather not spend so much money on food I may or may not be able to eat or enjoy.

True BBQ has pretty good barbecue and really poor service. The food is decent. The pulled pork really stands out. But, in general the food is overpriced. The staff all behave in a manner that makes you feel as if youre a bother to them. They do not greet you as you come in or as you leave. Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. Ive been there multiple times, hoping that maybe the last visit was just an off day. Nope! Every time the same thing. If the service and prices were as good as the barbecue, maybe Id go there more often. I think Ill stick with Big -Ts or Maurices where I can tell the staff appreciate my business.

The TRUEST barbecue I have eaten in years! Theres a savory earthiness to the meat here, and thats what youd expect from a mom-and-pop joint that roasts its pork right there in the parking lot! The homemade side dishes are straight out of the best family reunion you can remember, and their hash-and-rice is rich...the REAL deal. You are going to pay the same price for a single plate here, though, as you would for a whole buffet someplace else; HOWEVER, you ARE going to get every pennys worth, okay? The quality and genuine Carolina flavor comes through in every bite!

True BBQ serves up the best bbq/smoked meats that I have tasted to date in SC. No sauces for me please, the meat it tasty as is. On my most recent visit they were out of my favorite, white chicken so I ordered a pork chop with mac n cheese and baked beans. The pork chop was out of this world delicious, the mac n cheese is still the best and the beans were tasty. I ordered a rib plate for the little lady and as usual she thoroughly enjoyed everything. I do not recall ever having hash n rice before venturing into True and I must say it is very tasty...

Food was very good, chef comes out and to inquire about your experience. Place is nice inside but lacks music or TV to watch games. I had baby back ribs and they were very good, it doesnt take away from the flavor I just prefer my sauce on the ribs rather then on the side. The hash was vergy good. The Mac n Cheese was okay, wasnt creamy it was dry and chunky. I would go back if I was in that part of town but wouldnt go out of my way to go there. I understand there are closer places that are just as good but you can go and get as much as you want.

OK, so this is the BBQ that makes you happy! I went off of the reviews as I usually do and with no regrets it was awesome! The one thing that means a lot to me is that they have a family knit business and who is strong in their Christian beliefs. I cant say enough about the food. Great hash, awesome ribs, maybe the only thing lacking the day we went is the desert. But, they may have just not had it on that day. I will tell you if you are wanting a good place to get some BBQ, swing by this spot in triangle city. It is great!
