I eat at the Creekside location in Apex. AKA Big Mikes stands out for the consistently excellent quality of their meats and sides. A must try for any cue aficionado!! Ive been a number of times now, havent tried everything, but heres the rundown: appetizer chicken wings are cosmic: smoked, rubbed and flash fried, still juicy and savory but not at all greasy, and you can even try just one for $1.50. Youll want more. Cutting to the chase: the chopped pork simply could not be better, for real. Succulent and moist, wood smoked of course, some 1/2 inch chunks remain as it has not been chopped to smithereens. I avoid sandwiches everywhere, not a bread fan, and recommend the plate servings, very generous. House BBQ sauce on the table is fine, doesnt overwhelm the meat. The slow smoked brisket also rocks, juicy and succulent but for pure WOW! on Tues and Thurs only they serve bite size chunks of brisket ends that can be either sandwich or plate and are melt in your mouth tender and juicy and must be tried to be believed. I think theyre called burnt ends, but I call them food of the gods. The blue cheese slaw has just enough cheese to accent the shredded tender slaw, collards are terrific, green beans have cruch and snap, not overcooked and just the right garlic/butter accent; smoked potato salad has real punch for the big appetite, house made cornbread has taste and texture. I havent needed to try the other sides or had room for banana pudding, but veggie sides are a great option for the vegetarian friend! Oh, of course this is a craft beer mecca as well, with 10 varieties on the board and way more bottled as well. Id skip the egg roll style app - only tried it once, kind of filling and theres too much that tops it. Service is attentive and prompt, place is casual, quiet and clean.

Ive had some fanatic bbq and this place can battle with the best. Greeted by a very friendly server and she was very knowledgeable about the menu which is limited but still giving plenty of bbq options. I tested jet by asking for a dark Octoberfest beer and she informed that a true ocktobetfest isnt dark, so good knowledge. I ordered the pull pork so that i could stack it up against other restaurants. The meat was flavored thru with the taste of pecan wood and rub seasoning. No bark but a wonderful taste. The two sides that I chose were creamed corn and smoked bbq potato salad. The salad is warm so I aye that first. Potato were firm but soft to the bite and converted in the house dressing. Creamed corn was as advertised. The highlight of the meal was the smoked chicken wings. They are prepared by first smoking then fried in animal fat to add a crunch then re-tossed in seasoning. Above that understands that cooking the perfect wing takes more then two cooking techniques understands theyre job, and these wings are amazing

Absolutely fantastic. This is, my new favorite BBQ spot in North Cary. Everything they do, they do well. Wednesdays are burnt ends, but why am I telling you this? I need to make sure there are plenty for me first! The brisket is amazing, and the chicken is another favorite of mine. Oh, and the potato salad is nearly impossible to not get, but again, all of their sides are great as well. The beers on tap rotate fairly quickly and are always something new. And of course, they have a large selection of individually stocked bottles along the wall if youre looking for something different or just want to pick up something. Ive barely explored these, but I need to do so. The only negative is the lack of seating. They have two picnic tables that fit 6 comfortably, and 2 two seat tables. The bar seats 10 or so, but if you need seating for a group at lunch you better plan to get there early. Ive heard they are planning to expand soon though. This place has a lot of potential when it does.

I cannot rave about this place enough. We have been 3 times now since recently moving to Cary and every single time it has been outstanding! It was so good we ordered basically everything on the menu when my parents came to visit from Maine. Ironically, my mom is a vegetarian and ate a ton of sides and cornbread. However, they both were floored by how awesome the food was and INSISTED that we eat here again the next time they visit which speaks volumes for a BBQ joint to impress a vegetarian! My dad probably ate 3 lbs of burnt ends by himself and MONTHS LATER still talks about how great it was and how he cant wait to have it again! I absolutely love the BBQ egg rolls with chow chow, I could eat only those for dinner and be totally happy and stuffed! The smoked wings are also delicious! The half chicken plate is fantastic as well! You really cant go wrong with anything you order!

First the good things: The smoked chicken is out of this world, so good that I am still dreaming of that taste. Pretty good mac n cheese and collards. The not so good: Lots of beers listed online, but only the draft ones and a few cold bottles are available in store - its more like a bottle shop where you would normally buy warm beers to take home, which is not clear on the website. The draft beers are $$$$, and their prices are listed in as small a font as you can imagine they can legally get away with, so my bill was quite a surprise. Overall: Ill be back for the smoked chicken and a couple of warm bottled beers - to go. Edit: Thanks Big Mike for the response - I really will be back for a few beers and some of that delicious chicken. I know you started with the food truck and hope one day you can get even bigger.

Well I wanted to get a growler filled and some slaw for my NYE party. But apparently the wait staff didnt want to sell it to me. Waited 15 min to be acknowledged about what they could help me with but I got tired of waiting and left. Their food is good and the beer selection is awesome but this place cant figure out if it wants to sell beer or be a restaurant, because the store layout is confusing and the flow of customers is chaotic at best. And apparently the people working there were trying to close early on NYE. I mean really? You sell beer on one of the largest alcohol consumption holidays of the year, you should be staying open later.

I placed an order online after seeing several positive reviews in a few different places. The customer service was good, as they called to tell me they were sold out of what I originally ordered (brisket). I ordered the Big Mikes burger with a side of Mac and cheese, and the 1/2 smoked chicken, also with Mac and cheese. The burger was ok, but not something Ill order again. The 1/2 chicken was filling but my family didnt enjoy the flavor. The sides of Mac and cheese both went directly into the trash after one taste. They did forget the cornbread, but I also didnt check before leaving. The beer selection looked impressive, but we wont be back.
