I truly do not understand how this place has received as many awards as it has, simply because, the food is not that great.. I tried it three times and gave up. Granted, I grew up on Bobs BBQ in But-mor and I have had Sweatmans ( A buffet set in a chainsaw massacre-esque old farm house, with a buffet consisting of dark pork (close to skin) white pork (inside), pickles, rice, hash and white loaf bread (and ribs if you are lucky) in Low Country South Carolina, but... The stew? Its like this baby food concoction, with barely discernible lumps of meat, vegetables or anything of the sort and actually kind of tastes like a chicken soup. The portions for the price are abysmal. I ordered a combo plate of BBQ and dark chicken. You can get a leg, or a thigh with that. Not both like every other restaurant on the planet. If I got three ounces of BBQ I would have been surprised. The macaroni and cheese is that industrial stuff and again, tiny portion. (you know the stuff, that has that powdery-ish texture and is obviously fake). The bright spots, however, the chicken is good. It really is. I cannot tell a lie. The waitress, while completely overbearing and attempting to try to earn a tip, was a sweetheart of a woman, she reminds me of a family member of mine. The only thing was, they have an open soda fountain, I am not sure why they even have waitresses.... On the note of the portion sizes again. Something strange about their serving your food is, they give you a three portion plate, but they put the sides inside these little cups inside of the portion area. Which makes the side portions look even smaller. I suspect that they put the sides into these cups and heat them up in the microwave as needed rather than keeping a steam table hot all day. I saw slightly melted styrofoam on more than one occasion. Overall, Hog Heaven is a strangely ran restaurant that makes me seriously wonder how much and who the owner paid to win the awards that they have won.

Hog Heaven did the catering for my sisters wedding and they were wonderful to work with. The food and the service were wonderful. The pulled pork was the best I have ever had. We also had fried chicken and one guest commented that he normally doesnt like chicken, but that the chicken from Hog Heaven was so moist that he really enjoyed it. The three people from Hog Heaven who were at the wedding did a wonderful job of setting up all the food, keeping the buffet full of fresh food and serving the food. They also went well beyond what I expected by helping us cut the cake and throwing away all the plates that people had left at their tables. Hog Heaven was wonderful to work with and I would definitely recommend them for catering.

We found this place when looking for BBQ while traveling during the holidays. We just wanted a decent BBQ place and were not expecting much. However, we got much more than decent BBQ...it was fantastic! Great flavor with a superb balance of sweet and spice! Good value and great service. We fed our family of 4 for $20 and had leftovers, It was very easy to get to right off of 85 and the service was fast. Were glad to know where we can stop when passing through Durham again.

I wished I could have ate some bbq or chicken the way ppl are saying on here. I stood in line for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to take my order. I stood there and listen to the staff in the back cut up ,laughing,telling jokes. No one offered to take my order.I left and took my $$$ somewhere else. The skinny brown hair girl in the back saw me a few times and smirked at me.I was applauded and I will never go back again.If I want bbq I will drive to creedmoor to Bobs Bbq.

Had my daughters wedding catered by Hog Heaven last night and they did a fabulous job!! The food was outstanding as well as the service. I heard rave reviews from guests all night! That is what you want from your event . Could not have been more pleased! !! I am positive that Hog Heavens customer base will increase from everyones pleasant experience last night! I hope so, anyway!! Would most definitely recommend to anyone in the market for a caterer.

You know its going to be good BBQ when Mac + Cheese is under "vegetables" on the menu! This place is certainly authentic NC BBQ. I ordered pulled pork and lima beans + corn and granny potatoes. Tasted like a backyard NC pig roast! Was excellent. The only negative is that its not the most enjoyable atmosphere - dated decor, harsh lighting etc. BUT that doesnt make the food taste any less delicious!

BBQ chicken was excellent, BBQ was good, not the greatest in the world, I did mix 1/3 of their BBQ sauce with 2/3 of their vinegar base and it was pretty damn good. The lady waiting tables is awesome, chatting along with regulars like theyve known each other for 20 years while still remaining right on top of everyone else. Didnt even ask, she just came over and got us refills. Will eat there again.

Excellent food!! I was introduced to Hog Heaven when they catered a friends wedding. BBQ is their specialty... a perfectly seasoned chopped pork. Be sure to try their BBQ sauce as well... Its not too hot or spicy, but flavors the pork just right! My son also tried the catfish and loved it! Its a relaxed, family atmosphere... Great staff, great service and awesome food... Every time!

Usually have decent, not great food, but ok. I just stopped for lunch and now they will not give you a cup of water with a $10 meal. You have to pay for bottled water. They say it is because of theft, if they really have trouble with people coming in and stealing water, do you really want to be there?

The very first time I tried this so called BBQ, it was like eating a wet mop with pieces of knuckles and cartilage mixed in for good measure. Then I thought maybe they just had a bad day, so a few years later I had the BBQ again at Bull Durham ballpark with the same results. Nasty Nasty Nasty.

One of my favorite BBQ places in the triangle! The mac and cheese here is so delicious, its super cheesy and they give you a good portion of it :) The service here is excellent, other than the girl at the front that takes orders. All-in-all, Ill definitely be back when Im in the area!

the setting is not great... but damned if their BBQ isnt! GREAT FOOD!!!!! All around... everything was FANTASTIC! I had the BBQ, Brunswick Stew and Candied Yams... I ATE IT ALL!!!!! If they had some atmosphere... that place could be a gold mine!

We stopped by because BBQ Pit is closed on Saturdays. We were pleased. The BBQ sauce is delicious. The sides or so so. The price was great, and the service came with a smile. Not for the snooty with its rustic tables and chairs.

This is a BBQ place, but the fried chicken is amazingly good. If you get hush puppies, put Texas Pete and their BBQ sauce on them. Yum...... Its got some sweet and heat and its very good. It is very quick at lunchtime too.
