Not much to look at, inside or out. For some reason "office-style" overhead fluorescent lighting is used and quite bright so avoid if you like to utilize the term cozy. There is a "bar" that makes some drinks (Margaritas are served) but no Gin...?? The food is very bland and seems to suit those that think adding ketchup to food makes it "spicy" and the salsa served with the chips will certainly satisfy ketchup-lovers as it appears to be part of the base ingredient. Ive never run across refried beans that are gray in color and quite frankly everything else was smothered in cheese and red enchilada sauce so identifying a few items was nearly impossible. If youre hungry the place will do the trick but dont have any expectation of authentic Mexican given the hype or comments regarding "best theyve ever had" or "gourmet", which completely destroys any credibility of those reviewing this place. Its a matter of few restaurant choices in the area and this place being among the better options for what its worth.

Best service weve ever had at a Mexican restaurant. Not sure how the floorplan for the servers was lain out, but every server that happened past our table checked on us, refilled our drinks, removed our dirty dishes, checked on our food... The manager even stopped by to check on our food. All that said, we never felt rushed or smothered by the attention. My lady ordered the fish tacos, which were a tad spicy (she forgot to ask them to 86 the pico ) and a glass of sangria and absolutely loved both. I ordered a #1 and a 32oz XxDosEquisxX. Now... I am the epitome of the phrase "creature of habit", meaning I ALWAYS get 2 enchiladas, a taco and rice... and It was amazing. Something about the way the food is prepared here makes it very "light", not greasy In the least. Even the draft beer tasted crisp and full, not skunky at all. Thank you got a lovely evening with great food !Highly recommend this place.

The food was mediocre at best. The server was good - the poor service was from the manager. Stopped in for late lunch and ordered a number 2 instead of a number one - realizing it was my fault, I ate it, even though they offered to switch it. I ordered a draft beer explicity with no lime - they brought it with a lime and the manager almost argued with me about it - however offered to re do it. I flicked the lime off and drank it. My wife ordered a sangria and it was straight from the bottle and slightly heat damaged. When we checked out the manager told me the server didnt charge enough (50 cents) for the sangria. I told him it sucked and I wasnt happy with the lime in my beer either. He said sorry and proceeded to charge the extra 50 cents plus tax anyway. My wife noticed they segregated the left over chips from every thing else. Hope they arent re-using them. We wont ever eat there again.

The food is good and our service was great. The reason for three stars is because I took one star for price and another for portion. The prices are quite high for a small town Mexican restaurant with the average dish costing between $8-12! I think theyve figured out that they have the market cornered. And then theres portion - considering the price of my $8 dish, I expected to get a much larger portion than I did. I initially felt like the waiter had just brought me the salad portion, but that was my entire meal. Ive been coming to this restaurant for YEARS, and lately the price versus portion ratio is just disappointing.

After seeing several signs for this restaurant on the highway, we decided to have dinner there one night while in Bryson City on vacation. The service was exceptional - within a minute of sitting down we had menus, drinks, and a basket of chips and salsa. The restaurant itself is sort of run down in appearance and needs an update. The food was great and the portions were generous for the low prices. The servers bring you a ticket that you pay at the front desk - as tourists we didnt know this and no one informed us...we caught on by seeing others go up to the front to pay. Overall some great Mexican food in a cute little town!

We had really bad service. I dont know if they were having a bad night or if our group was too large for them to accommodate. We were asking the servers for things and they werent bringing them. We asked several times for silverware but by the end of the meal only half of our party had utensils. We also asked for, but did not receive (or received too late): drink refills, chip refills, and a booster seat for my infant daughter. They forgot about the kids meals and had to be reminded several times. Overall we had a very bad experience here and we will not be returning.

Guayabitos looks like a typical neighborhood Mexican restaurant, from the decor to the menu, but it so is NOT! The food was amazing...gourmet even. Granted, there were only two of us so we only tried two entrees, the Enchiladas Verdes and Pollo Fundido, but I would highly recommend either. Mexican cuisine is our absolute favorite and we have it more often than we should, so I feel like were fairly good judges. Delicioso!

Exited the highway for lunch on my way to a cabin rental in the area and found this little gem. Wasnt long after opening for the day so wasnt too full yet. Menu offered typical Mexican fare at good prices. Margaritas had good amount of tequila in them. Food was delicious and staff was friendly and service was quick. Prices very reasonable. Would definitely eat there again.

"In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king"... Or, in this case, in the land of limited options, Guayabitos is a decent choice. Look, youre not going to a famous Michelin rated dining experience. Its a small local Tex-Mex restaurant in a town that rolls up the sidewalks at 9pm. Its good, if generic, Mexican food, at medium prices.

The food was tasty but not nearly as good as we had hoped. The chicken in my wifes Polo Fundido was very dry and rubbery, it seemed like it had been re-heated in a microwave. My grilled steak tacos were pretty good, but not nearly as good as a similarly priced Mexican restaurant in a neighboring town.

Enjoyed the food and the staff is good. This place is usually busy so make a decision and order because it may be a bit before they can return because of volume of customers each staff member is handling. The cost... Well lets say theyre good and top dollar. Well worth the experience.

I absolutely love this place. I come here way too much but I cant stay away! The service has always been spot on and the food has always been great. I may be biased but I truly believe this is the best Mexican restaurant around this area. Also I must say thier margaritas are potent.

This place was average at best and extremely over-priced. $45 for 3 entrees and waters. Ive eaten a lot of Mexican food and was astounded to see this place rated so highly. Taco Bell would have been a better option with the benefit of hindsight.
