THIEVES!!! WORST Mexican restaurant. And Mexican is my favorite kind of food. I went with a group and the service was extraordinarily slow. The fajitas were thin, chewy and overcooked. The queso or "cheese dip", as Floridians call it, was not very good but the thing that made this experience so bad was the queso sizes. I ordered a large queso and another girl at our table ordered a small. She didnt like it at all so she gave it to me. I ate all the small queso and decided to pour the large queso into the small bowl to see how much extra cheese we got for $2.49 more. IT WAS THE EXACT SAME AMOUNT OF CHEESE DIP! It was literally just served in a heavy duty gravy boat to make it look like more. I brought this fact up to the waitress and showed her and she just shrugged and said, "thats how it is here". Completely ticked me off. How many customers have they robbed? Worst Mexican restaurant I know. Between the awful food, subpar service, and the queso incident; I will never go back here and I strongly recommend other people dont come too.

I moved here a month ago and decided to eat at Casa Maria last night...Ive eaten at my share of Mexican restaurants in my lifetime so what Im about to tell you I have never EVER heard of before! I ordered enchilada dinner and two bites into the enchilada I bit on something hard. I spit it out, looked at it and it resembled a clipped fingernail from a mans thumb. I motioned for the waiter to look at it and his reply: "oh yes, we get asked about that all the time, we fry our tomatoes and that hard part is from the skin" .... hmm, oh really??? In all my 60 years on earth and all the Mexican restaurants Ive eaten at have I never EVER EVER heard anything like this ... Im calling BS on that BS!! I always pay for my meals but this is one time they should have let it go since I pushed the plate back and was outta there!!!!!!

Ignore the high rating listed here. Im new to Jacksonville. We decided to try Casa Marias based on the reviews here. Clearly the abundance of five stars isnt related to the food. The dining room appeared clean and inviting. Beyond that I have few positive responses. I now know why the margaritas are two for one. A customer with only half a pallette would need to be drunk to enjoy the food. I ordered a "sampler plate" hoping for variety. Unfortunatley, everything tasted the same. The texture of the food had a common theme. It was what one would expect from a can. It seemed as if everything was commercially prepared food arranged on a plate and heated in the microwave. To be perfectly honest, Taco Bell would offer better food than Casa Maria. If youre looking to have a few drinks and watch sports try it but avoid the food.

Calling this place mediocre would be a compliment. My tacos were stale, old and dry. The meat was way too chewy and overcooked. The menu needs revision. In the section titled "tacos" it states that taco dishes come with a side of rice and beans. I get my dish and they said that my particular entree did not come with a side of rice and beans. Mind you it was the most expensive dish under "tacos". After trying to explain that the menu layout made no sense and there was a miscommunication, he brought out the rice and beans but did not mention that he was going to charge me $4 for it. After speaking to the manager, she finally budged and gave me a free margarita. A nice gesture considering we were a party of 14 people. Needless to say coming here was a mistake and I will not be coming here again.

This restaurant is OK for Jacksonville. Mexican in general in this area if just OK. I am a regular of Casa Maria. Last night I spent over $17.50 for a jr. Cali burrito, an extra side of rice and beans, and small queso. I was offered one small container of salsa for my to go order. In order to get an extra salsa it was $.50. REALLY....I just spent almost $18 for a one person meal, and its to go. Chef Ramsey once said on his show "Kitchen Nightmares" do not nickel and dime your customers or you will lose your customers. Well you have lost me, I will now be going to the mexican restaurant on ALTA Dr. and Interstate 295. They are not the only mexican spot in Oceanway. Cheap arses!!!! Appreciate your regular customers. I have been coming in here for over 4 years.

THIS PLACE IS AWEFUL!! Went here last night with my family and friends for my birthday. It took forever to get our food and when it did arrive mine was not correct. The waiter took it back and I never saw it again. When I asked a nearby waiter he shrugged his shoulders as to say “oh well” not my table. When he finally did walk over I explained the situation and he just laughed and said I will tell the manager. The manager came over and said I will go check on it and it was laughing as well. I was like “what is so funny”. I told them to forget it and bring me my check. They told me that the wait staff does not help each other with their tables. I couldn’t believe what they were telling me. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!! Stay away from this place!!!

Got here at about 4 pm. Got chips and salsa quickly. Waiter seemed very anxious and talked very softly and was hard to understand. We ordered and the food came quickly. We both received a plate of old, dry, pre-made entrees that were not even warm. If you know what food that has been pre-made and has sat in a refrigerator for an extended amount of time you will understand what this food was like. The meat on my beef enchilada was very dry, cold, and too salty. The cheese enchilada was too salty and the temperature could not have been 1 degree above 70. It had been 2 years since we had eaten here and this was the last time.

We come here pretty regularly and honestly the main reason is the style of Mexican food they offer reminds me of home (CA) and what we get is consistently good. However, the service is pretty awful. The servers often forget things or leave you sitting there without service for a while and zone out watching sports games up at the bar. They are consistently under staffed. Also, the servers never do anything for tables other than their own, which really sucks. So the 3 stars is for food only.

Ive been to this restaurant many times and they NEVER EVER disappoint me. Food is always very tasty and they bring it fast which is something I am always grateful for. I am of spanish origin so I know how mexican food should taste like. The waiters are always friendly and quick to bring you whatever you order. Love the dimmed lights at the tables and Ohhhh! those chips and salsa are DA BOMB!!!! I will always return again,…and again….and again….and again…..

Buyer beware. Almost swallowed a pea sized piece of glass. Manager obviously not trained to deal with situations like this, as he refused to accept blame, nor did I see anyone making a move to throw out all the ice that was in the chest. He should have immediately emptied all the ice and started cleaning out the chests, but instead he spent his time trying to imply that I had probably put the ice in my own drink. This is a pitiful excuse for a Manager.
