The atmosphere was a pleasant surprise for a local restaurant, but I quickly understood where their profits come from to afford such a facade. Our meal started with salsa and chips. I was disappointed with the salsa which was lacking in flavor and basically tasted like watered down tomato sauce with vinegar and a little cilantro. The chips were ok, but tasted like Tostidos. The entrees came with a choice of salad or nachos. The salad dressing was reflective of the salsa - just vinegar and a little flavor. The "nachos" were 4 of the tortilla chips with some Kraft shredded Cheddar cheese melted on top. We laughed out loud when it was placed on the table. I would bet that the cheese was melted in a microwave because the chips were soft and flimsy. We tried the chicken fajitas and the chicken enchiladas. The refried beans were ok, but again were lacking in flavor. The rice was overcooked. The enchiladas had an unusual texture and were covered in a revolting sauce. The fajita chicken reeked of garlic and reminded me more of chicken shawarma. Again, strange textures in the chicken (definitely not grilled) and unusual flavors that I would not associate with Mexican food. Our service was lackluster. The food was extremely overpriced. I was told that El Charro was "authentic Mexican". Maybe I am missing something, but I do not think microwaved chips and cheddar cheese or a spattering of clilantro here and there constitute authentic mexican. What a disappointment.

My wife and I love El Charros and now they have a traveling truck to get food at events too! We have eaten at the Fraser site many times and the traveling truck we tried at the Mt. Clemens Fireworks in June 2016. I love their enchiladas, the kids like the nachos with "mild" sauce" and my wife loves their famous "Puffy Tacos" We like their large aquarium in the entrance, and have learned that Fridays are the night we have to order to go as they are so busy :) Their refried beans are very tasty and go great with the cheddar they put on them. We all like the cheesy nacho as a side dish. Their traveling truck was very busy at the Fireworks show but had fast service and it was nice to have something "different" than the usual food you get at a fireworks show.

My family and I ate here after hearing co-workers rant and rave over El Charros. Typically, when we crave mexican, we head over to Crazy Gringos on Gratiot south of 15 mile. Tonight wanted to try something new that came highly recommended. However, aside from the fast service and margaritas, everything paled in comparison. Our order was correct. The wait staff friendly and helpful - even took a drink off our bill when we didnt care for it. The enviroment was clean and atmosphere kid friendly. The food wasnt "nasty", but deffinitely left something to be desired. Despite of the atmosphere and service, I probably wont be back... There is better food elsewhere.

Used to love this place but now literally the last 10 times I have been there they have screwed up my order. The waitress Andrea is still great but those who take the carry outs are clueless and mess up every single time now. The food however when they get your order is an experience. Food is 5 stars but service from the "ditsy" people who handle carry out is close to a half star and Im gonna roof down from that to zero. To make an average of 2.5 stars and another round down from zero for making my past experiences a distant memory. They took good care of me after their screw ups so I change to 4 stars by default. I keep coming back for more.

I hope 40 minutes isn’t the usual wait time for nachos and a chimichanga carry out. Not to mention the guy before us was told his order was accidentally taken by someone else and a non-sympathetic sorry and was told to come back. After finally given our food we were given an excuse by a host that the manager had to go back and to correct something. Personally, I don’t really need an excuse, just apologize and move on, the excuse won’t make my food come out faster. Next time I’ll go to Taco Bell, as it was definitely a better value!

Americanized beyond recognition. Basically upscale Taco-Bell. The beef in the enchiladas was mealy and bland. It claimed to come with enchilada sauce, but there was so little on it, I couldnt taste it. The beans tasted like they came out of a can. The rice was also unseasoned. I was also told my meal came with a "Cheese Nacho" it was a tostada shell with cheese on it. They sell tostadas. I felt lied to, but it was the best part of the meal. Good for American palates... not if you are really a fan of Mexican food.

Disappointed in the food. The food lacked flavor and seasoning. I felt the price was a bit high as well. My wife and I had two entrees and the special nacho appetizer with no drinks and the bill was $45 not including tip. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area that I will visit next time. The good about the restaurant is the decor and ambience. The building is beautiful. if I could rent the building for an event like a shower or wedding rehearsal I would. However I wouldnt buy the food

Its Americanized Mexican food. But not in the bad taco bell way. Think Azteca restaurant but more upscale looking. Personally I like my Mexican food more authentic and made by guys that just left a cartel. Maybe they got sick of running guns and chopping off heads and just want to be legit and make tacos in peace. I dont mind a grungy Azteca over this. But this place has the best ambiance for a date.

I no longer live in Michigan, but when I visit I want to stop in every time. I crave El Charro puffy tacos!!! Their Botanas are one of my favorite things to get as an appetizer. The Mexican-style enchilada dinner is a close runner-up for favorite dinner. Friendly service, wide variety of menu options, and great lunch specials..... Plus the margaritas are amazing!

I adore this restaurant. We used to come here strictly for the tacos, but now weve expanded our horizons. The fish tacos are delicious, the quesadilla nachos are AMAZING, chilies releno are really good.. The soup is sooooooo good! You cant get a bad dish here! The staff is welcoming and helpful. Always our go-to for delicious, mother/daughter date night food!

I have eaten here many times through the prodding of my wife. She and her friends come here often for a Taco Salad or Cheese & Onion Enchiladas, and of coarse chips and salsa. I might have a Cheese Crisp or Cheese & Onion Enchiladas. Food and service here is usually pretty good. I have no idea what their drinks are like. Their sodas are usually pretty good.

Best Mexican food in the area bar none. Been going to El Charros since I was a baby, before they moved locations. Everything here is fantastic, but the Puffy Tacos are to die for. The salsa and chips here are also incredible. Its worth going here just for a "pint and a pound" of salsa and chips for a party or just a lazy Sunday afternoon watching Netflix.

Drinks were good. Too bad they didnt list the prices on the menu. I wouldnt have ordered a margarita if I had know it was $9.50. It wasnt very large. I wonder what a Corona costs? 7? Food was average. I had the 3 burrito dinner. Husband had the "super" wet burrito. Was not super. Nothing special. Most likely will not return. Waiter was attentive.
