We chose the Outer Banks for a destination wedding and had the arduous task of providing food for our guests without having tasted it first. We decided on BBQ and began intently searching for a restaurant that could provide the service and quality fit for a wedding. We needed a delivery and set up service with a variety of options on the menu. After searching through copious amounts of online reviews, we decided on Currituck BBQ - even though they were ~45 minutes away and we had several options within blocks of our wedding venue. Every rave review theyve received was incredibly accurate with regards to their professionalism, timeliness, and hospitality! As for the food, we had herb baked chicken, ribs, pulled pork bbq, green bean casserole, Cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, hush puppies and the most delicious bacon wrapped scallops! We wound up eating an hour later than intended due to the inevitable delays of a wedding, and everything was still steaming hot and nothing was dried out. Every single one of our guests enjoyed their meal and we could not have been happier with every aspect of what Currituck BBQ provided for us. At the end of the day, it was fantastic food at a reasonable price with outstanding service, and we couldnt be more pleased that it wasnt something we had to stress about on our wedding day.

I dont understand how this place has such good reviews. We stopped here yesterday for lunch, and I had a brisket platter. It tasted like it was bought frozen and pre-cooked. There was no flavor. It was not smoked. I was not impressed with the sauce I used by any means. The beans they gave me as a side were disappointing. I would rather just heat up a can of Bushs; it would taste a lot better. I ordered jumbo size, but I was still hungry when I finished eating. My wife had the pulled pork platter, and did not like it at all. She did like the mac and cheese side and said they had good sweet tea. Im not in to sweat tea, so Ill take her word for it. The potato salad I had was ok, but not worth the price I paid. I smoke meat myself at home, and know how to make my own bbq sauce. Perhaps all these other reviewers just dont know what bbq is supposed to taste like. Highly disappointed. I will not stop here again, and dont recommend it to anyone.

I have been eating at Currituck BBQ since it opened many years ago. Paul and company (great people) even catered my wedding. Hands down the best BBQ in eastern NC. I have sent three different wedding parties to him for their catering and they were completely satisfied also. I just ordered the "burnt ends" plate and this is the first time that I have ever been completely dissatisfied. There were only six "burnt ends" in the plate and two of them consisted of nothing but fat. A tiny meal for $12.49 that is not worth it. The regular BBQ plate includes far more BBQ and far less unedible fat. Hopefully, I just got the "bottom of the barrel" pieces because the meat on my plate should have cost about five dollars. Awesome food, just steer clear of the "burnt ends".

Line out the door at 11 am when they open shows this place is good. Had the ribs, pork and brisket. Amazing food all around. The sweet potato casserole was just perfect. $18 for 3 meets and subbing up for ribs instead of chicken was totally worth it. Huge outdoor pavilion for eating and some tables in the sweet Carolina sunshine. We have been coming down here for years and this is regrettably the first time we have stopped here. I think it will be on the list from now on.

Weve stopped here twice on our way back from OBX. The line is usually out the door but the cashier is an artist at her craft and keeps it moving. Shes all business but also somehow sweet. The BBQ is really good. The pork was a bit mushy this past visit. But we also got the burnt ends which took the cake. I love all the sides Ive tried. Business must be good because theyve added an enormous pavilion since our last visit. I look froward to our next stop.

I was incredibly disappointed in the staffs attitudes and level of service. The manager seemed frazzled and apathetic towards the customers. It was obvious they were a bit short-staffed, which is odd, considering most restaurants in the area tend to overstaff in the busy summer months. The chicken BBQ was pretty good though, and the mac and cheese was yummy. Just wish Id had a better customer service experience. Probably not coming back. :/

Currituck BBQ Company - the very best authentic local roadside restaurant we encountered on our 2015 NY-FL road trip! Food delicious (killer ribs and sweet potato casserole!), counter service quick and friendly, choice of seating indoors, outdoors under the sun or outdoors under the pavilion, and all surrounded by beautiful farmland. The retired firetruck on the grounds that kids were enjoying playing on was the icing on the cake!

This is really good NC BBQ. The chopped pork bbq & the brisket are my favorites. The hush puppies are addictive. And whatever is in Larrys BBQ sauce is just right. You gotta try a pork bbq + coleslaw sandwich. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I wish I lived closer so I could eat this more often, but its a *must stop* on the way to and from the beaches. Yum! [Updated July 2011: Still as good as ever!]

Some of the best BBQ Ive had. They have several styles of sauce in case you dont enjoy Carolina style BBQ (you know, if youre some sort of heathen or something). We always stop on the way home from the beach to have lunch here. The outdoor seating is fantastic if you have a dog, so you can have a nice sit down meal without worrying about your pets. The sides are all fantastic. Seriously, you need to eat this BBQ.

I love this place. Im a fan of NC barbecue and this one is excellent. I sample barbecue all over NC, and I keep coming back here. The barbecue is all meat. You dont have to pick through it. My main gripe with some places is all the extraneous stuff in the barbecue. Not a problem here. They also catered my sons wedding. Everyone loved it. Decor is plain, but what the heck, who goes to a barbecue place for hanging ferns?

Had the rib and 2 meat combo. Tasted like the average bbq place. Ribs, chicken, and the brisket tasted as it should but nothing tasted out of the ordinary. The Ribs were a little hard and nothing like "fall off the bone" ribs and same goes for the rest of the food. Everything sort of just tasted "plain" Its a nice place to eat since its on the way but I wouldnt go out of my way for this place.

This place is horrible ------- that theyre so far from our home, that is!! We LOVE The Pig!! Once a year, we make the pilgrimage from Cleveland to OBX, and we base our meals comin and goin around stopping here. I cant believe someone would actually complain about SERVICE, though. Theyve always been excellent to us, and we have no issues in the least. See you in a week! The Millers of Avon
