Today was our first visit to That Good BBQ. The service was excellent. The gentleman that took our order took the time to orient us to their menu and was very polite and helpful. I ordered the 2 meat plate with brisket and pork. The brisket was not dry, was very tender, mostly lean with just enough fat, and had a great flavor. The pork was tender, juicy, with a nice smoke flavor to it. They have a very nice selection of sauces at the table that should satisfy any preference one might have. I also had baked beans which had a thick sweet and spicy(not hot spicy) sauce coating them. My other side was green beans that were cooked perfectly and subtly sweet. The rolls were huge and fluffy and tasted fresh baked. Was really tempted to try one rib(yes its on the menu), but after trying what I had, Im sure they are awesome. Will try a half rack when I return. Prices were the best Ive seen for real BBQ!

I am an absolute BBQ snob, and was raised on the Kansas City style. When I moved to Hampton Roads 10 years ago, I just could not assimilate to the North Carolina style and craved a good red sauce over meat smoked by someone who knew what they are doing with a fire pit. When I say That Good BBQ hits EVERYTHING I have been looking for in a good barbecue restaurant, I seriously mean EVERYTHING! From the friendliness of the staff, to the amazingly delicious food (between my family members, we had pulled pork, brisket, chicken, mac & cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, fries, and banana pudding), to their touching tribute to our nations POW/MIA military members, That Good BBQ has NAILED it! Will be back time after time!!

I really wanted to write an amazing review because a friend suggeted this place and its out of my way. The brisket was flavorful and tender, but way too fatty. It was not trimmed or cut correctly, instead I got a pound of square cut chunks filled with fat. In fact, it was about 1/2 fat. It definitely does not measure up to the brisket that I got from down the street at the plaid turnip or even mission bbq, which are both trimmed and sliced correctly. This was incredibly difficult to write as I would prefer to build up my fellow disabled veterans businesses, but it fell short today.

This Place is amazing! I got the brisket plate and it was delicious! You can also get pork and ribs also. Everything here is homemade, from the meat to the rolls. Then food also came fairly quick ( about 20 min or less ). The brisket was savory, and I got fries, mac, rolls, and hushpuppies for my sides. It was great and my favorite was the brisket by far. They have a variety of sauces ( that are also for sale ). The original, bourbon and bacon, hot, spicy mustard, and carolina vinegar. The original was my favorite. I highly recommend this place, I will defiantly be coming back here.

Awesome BBQ. The bourbon bacon BBQ sauce is out of this world! Bought a bottle to bring home, it was gone in three days!! Nice atmosphere. Extremely pleasant staff. Small but thoughtful selection of draft beer. Very impressed with the table set up n the front window as a remembrance to all those who died in service to us all. The place is a home run!

The most tender, smoky, and flavorful brisket and pulled pork Ive had in the entire Hampton roads area! The sauces in the table were equally delicious, and the bread is out of this world...so fresh and fragrant. They have a smoky Mac n cheese that was so good I had to take a container of it to-go... Three people, full meals, 2 beers, $28!!!

Amazing brisket and the bourbon bacon sauce is amazing. The homemade style yeast bun is worth going just to eat by itself. I go here every chance I get. I am always thanked for my business every time I go in no matter how crowded it is. This is a Veteran owned place of business that I hope to enjoy for years to come.

We had great pulled port and brisket. The slaw was average, but the meat made up for what it was lacking. Great friendly staff, as I watched her slice the brisket she offered up a sampling. Clean restaurant and restrooms. Great ambiance and cute decorations. Planning my next trip already.

Great bbq and super nice staff. This place has the best brisket in Virginia that Ive tried. Great selection of sauces. The macaroni and cheese is amazing and the homemade rolls are great. The only thing that was mediocre was the coleslaw. Overall the best bbq Ive had in Virginia.

I LOVE this place!!! the brisket melts in your mouth, just the right smoke, the fresh baked buns are big and delicious. I have everything but the chicken, I just cant give up that brisket! They make their own sauce and I have my own bottles at home. Prices are good.

Last night I treated myself to THAT GOOD BBQ ,got the half rack of pork ribs(prefer beef ribs but hard to find).The ribs were cooked to perfection,smoky,moist and tender.Had fries and mac&cheese,also great.If in Suffolk,Va you have to try this place.Next time full rack.

Very good. Tried the 3 meat sampler. Everything was good but the brisket was best, in my opinion. Smoked mac and cheese as good as mine, lol. Loved the brisket baked beans. The staff and owner are terrific. My new favorite casual dining place in Suffolk.

Last time I had barbecue this good, I was doing work out in Missouri. Bourbon and Barbecue sauce is amazing and the location is nestled down in Downtown Suffolk. On top of that, service is very friendly and accommodating. Well be coming back again, for sure.

Even though it was late in the evening, the staff went out of their way to serve us outside so we could enjoy the sunset. Food was excellent and decor was nice. Prices more than reasonable for what we got. EVEN THE MACARONI WAS SMOKED! Will recommend.

Moved up here from AL. Tried a couple of BBQ places in the 7 cities area, I was starting to think that no one in the area knew how to cook brisket. Then I tried this place, by far the best brisket in the area, and the staff is super friendly.

Amazing flavors. Be sure to try the brisket, havent had it any where better. Their pork is top notch as well. We just moved to Suffolk from NC and are delighted to have found this spot, way better than Suffolk bbq. Will return here often.

Love the brisket! We ordered pulled pork and brisket with potato salad and beans. My husband raved about the potato salad and said it was like homemade. I also thought the beans with cubed brisket was good. What more can we say!!!

I ordered a Brisket sandwich and drink for $13. Im not sure about everyone else but seemed expensive to me. I would have thought you got a side with the sandwich but not here. I will say the food was good, but not $13 good.

Should be called "That incredible amazing perfect blow your mind delicious BBQ" super cheap too! Anyone who says otherwise is insecure that they will never be as good at anything as these guys are at BBQ.
