Well, its interesting to me that an established restaurant such as the Red Stag does not have any Google reviews. We tried to search it before going because we noticed the substantial difference in Urban Spoon (3-star) avg review scores vs Trip Advisor (4.5-star). I went here about 2 years ago with my mom & dad so remembered vaguely having a good experience & wanted to try it again with my boyfriend. Well, $105 later, I wish we wouldnt have gone. We arrived only to sit at the bar, service was nothing to brag about as we sat with empty glasses majority of the time we were there...as we waited on our purple rare steaks to be cooked to a medium rare. We also ordered the suggested side of green beans which arrived raw in texture (the type of raw where it feels & sounds squeaky on your teeth), covered in oil, with absolutely no flavor. There didnt seem to be much haste nor concern that our steaks were returned uncooked or in the return of them to our table. We arent typically a difficult couple & felt rude even mentioning that our steaks were severely undercooked, so def didnt continue by complaining about no water, offer on wine, the terrible green beans or ask about a dessert menu since our check was displayed in front of us before we had the opportunity to ask. All I can say is I am excited to try The Dining Room at Biltmore Inn because although we love staying at the Grand Bohemian, we will most likely not be dining at its signature restaurant again.

Im so sorry to be posting a negative review but it is really necessary. This was our second time dining at The Red Stag, first time was breakfast. To begin I must say that the decor, the atmosphere and the service is OUTSTANDING! We were seated right away, waitress suggested specials and took our order. My husband ordered the Steak Frites (flat iron steak) and I the NC Brined Chicken. The order arrived and the steak was served on top of the FF - huh?????? How are you supposed to cut the meat when it is on top of a pile of French Fries. But that was not the entire issue, the steak, after my husband transferred it to the butter plate, was too tough to even cut much less eat. The fries had some kind of seasoning that was not expected. My husband told the waitress that the steak was inedible and asked for a plain hamburger, no bread. The replacement meal was served with a bun and another order of the weird FF. The burger, sadly , was greasy and clearly made from from a frozen patty. My order of the chicken had a good flavor but SALT Overload. I should have known, it was "brined". We just decided to chalk it up to an off day in the kitchen and asked for the check. The check arrived and we were still charged $17 for the steak that was inedible and the burger that was too greasy. I would like to say that a lesson was learned but I dont know what that was.

The burger and cheese was great. The "over" fried egg and lack of lettuce, tomato on the burger. Ordered the bacon bloody Mary, came with no bacon. Had to ask for water refills. For the kind of money we spent there I thought the service would be better. Stopped at the bar for a drink and dessert on the way out. Bartender was clearly not wanting any new patrons. Between rolling his eyes and complaining to the other staff we did not feel welcomed. On the bright side drove half a mile down the road, walked in to Fridays. Smiling faces and quick service.

This restaurant was repulsive. I had dinner one night and received a dirty glass. The next morning, I had breakfast at the Red Stag and received a dirty fork and straw. Absolutely disgusting. Management expressed little to no remorse. Cleanliness is a basic need that should be expected with prices that high. When Im spending $12 on a glass of wine, I expect a clean glass. When I get a $42 steak, I expect a clean fork with which to eat. This restaurant is a disgrace and ruined my entire relaxing spa weekend.

Meh. Meat in my burger was good. The rest of our food was way over seasoned, over powering use of garlic and vinaigrette. Fries were the shoe string kind - not my favorite, but guess someone still likes them. Atmosphere was really nice and intimate. Waitress was really nice. No parking so you have to use valet, but they do validate for eating in the restaurant. Wasnt expecting to have to tip a valet, not a big deal but something to be aware of.

We chose the Red Stag Grill for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. The food and service were spectacular. Highly recommend the crab cake and the hunt board for starters. Our steaks were perfectly cooked, and surprisingly the gem potatoes may have been the most flavorful thing on the plate. Hotel staff were very friendly and offered us complementary champagne while we waited for our reservation.

Visited during the AVL restaurant week. I have to say, I had no idea this place was in the middle of Biltmore Village!! I drive by almost every day, not knowing this place was here. Highly impressed with my first visit! I would recommend Red Stag as the perfect date night restaurant in Asheville. Food was great, was served promptly, service was on point, and the ambiance is really nice! Light up menus.....

Our group of 10 was a bit disappointed in the lunch, although the service was very attentive. The skimpy measure of the soups was notable, especially the gazpacho. We had to ask for bread a couple of times and were surprised that it wasnt automatically served. The consensus was that the food was overpriced for the quantity and the quality.

Went here for lunch during restaurant week. Service was very subpar. Tables were left uncleaned twenty minutes after customers were gone. Potatoes were to salty, and the chicken was dry. My fiancé had an empty glass for over ten minutes. If I want service and quality control this low, Ill just go to Chilis.

Great ambiance, beautiful decor, highly recommend the elk and the ribeye. The Manhattan was a great drink choice as well. The entire hotel is lovely and decorated so well. I feel like I need a smoking jacket, pipe, and glass of whiskey just to sit by the big fireplace in the lobby. Worth checking out.

We had the wine paired dinner. I do remember that the health score was 90 and it should be better for a place like this. The food is very unique. For example, Elk is served here and other wild game. The wine paired dinner was a positive experience and the atmosphere is really cool.

The bartender Brad went above and beyond. He was friendly and gave us suggestions not only for their menu, but for things to do and dinner ideas as well. The food was great, but the service is unbeatable!

The food was good but the waiters/waitresses were bringing our food out at all different times and messed up the majority of our orders. Besides that everyone was very friendly and helpful.
