I was at the VI on Friday, June 12 with my wife and her parents. The three of them had very enjoyable meals (after a too long wait for a restaurant with empty tables on a Friday evening). My meal, on the other hand, was inedible. I had a very basic 1/2 lb cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato that I ordered medium well along with the fresh cut fries. After the aforementioned long wait I received my meal. The 1/2 lb patty had burned char-broiled marks and had shrunk to somewhere between a McDonalds 1/4 lb and one of their regular hamburger patties. It had passed the point of medium well at about the time it should have arrived at the table in the first place. The two tomato slices were silver dollar size and thickness and limp. The lettuce had passed its prime days before our arrival. The fresh cut fries were abundant... and room temperature. I can ignore over long waits if the business is crowded. They were not. I can ignore questionable food quality if they are very busy. They were not. People who arrived after us received their meals in 1/4 the time it took us. Oh yes, the over priced draft beer that my wife and I had ordered (two different brands) was...wait for it...warmer than the fries. In closing I can say that our DOGS did seem to enjoy my almost untouched meal. One star is too good for my experience. Signed, Never Again!! P.S. Did I say anything to anyone? No, first of all with an hardly touched meal it should have prompted "was there something wrong with your meal?" and secondly, with an establishment that has been in business for decades it should not be necessary to point out the fact that "If I would not eat it myself why should I expect someone else to????????????????"

Love the food! My favorite thing is the portobello fries. Great place to have a beer with friends or for date night. The only reason theyre not getting 5 stars is the last time I went there we waited too long for food. I know when its busy things take longer but it took nearly 45 minutes to get refills on water after asking 3 times very nicely. It took even longer to get food and the orders were not complicated. My suggestion is hire a few more servers so you dont have just one poor guy or gal trying to handle a full restaurant. Will come again soon just be aware of peak times if you dont have too much time.

We were in town for a swim meet and a group of 15 of us stumbled into this place. The food was great minus the fish and chips (fish too thin). They have unique sandwiches that are awesome and reasonably priced, less than 10 dollars. Full bar and good beer selection. I highly recommend the steak and blue sandwich. The service was slow, BUT it was a Saturday afternoon during the summer when schools out. Our waiter was doing sprints trying to keep up and called in the owner to help as other swimmers showed up.

Did not get what I ordered. I pointed this out to the server and was told it was what I ordered. I tried it but the bread was so hard it cut the roof of my mouth. I asked for mayo to help with the dryness and never got it. The server never came around to ask how our food was as they normally would. When you leave most of the order on the plate it should tell the server something. Nope she just brought the check and disappeared again. Next time for food we will drive over to Mt Vernon.

FIND ANOTHER RESTAURANT. Dont come here if you have any sort of time limit. We were visiting from out of town and met family here. First, we were told the wait was 30 min. Two reminders and an hour and 15 minutes later, we were finally seated. They brought us drinks quickly, we placed aour order.....an hour and a half later, 15 minutes from closing, were STILL waiting on our food. We will NEVER come back here again. The food and service wasnt even close to being worth the wait.

Little different selection than from the last time we were here. Overall more of a pub vibe although they still have some of their classics. Wings were excellent. Presentation and quality was top notch. Staff was very friendly and courteous.

Great food, great service, nice atmosphere in a small town. Best quesadillas Ive ever had with smoked gouda, portabella mushrooms and carmelized onions. I would go back if it was closer to my home, but its 1-1/2 hours away.

Just recently visited one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Disappointed to wait 15 minutes at the table before any server even recognized that we were there. The food was still good, however.

Our favorite eatery in Gambier, always...its a great hangout spot, and the patio is lovely on nice days. I love the MG salad with avocado, add chicken, w/sweet garlic vinagrette dressing.

Good food, great atmosphere. Service can be hit or miss but its probably hard to properly staff a place that can be either completely dead or packed on a whim.
