Services were very poor which is why theyre receiving a low review from me. They had plenty of workers yet no one bothered to ask if I needed water or check up on me until the end when I needed to pay. I constantly had to ask for whatever I needed over and over again. Even when I needed something, the lady would say something like shed go in the back to check if they have it but never come back to tell me if they do or not! Whats up with that? Id just wait for the two different waitresses response every time? Totally unorganized. The worst part of my experience was when the bill arrived, in advance, before I could finish my food. Not only that, the lady was in such a hurry to see what tip I had given them by quickly arriving to my table to pick up the bill before I can even stand up to leave! Thats just super rude. Also, the menu says "hydrabadi biriyani" but it seemed like chinese fried rice with Indian spices mixed in to call it a day. Rice definitely wasnt fluffy nor basmati and did not have the components of what a hydrabadi biriyani usually has. Aside from my complaints, however, theyre receiving this two star rating because it oddly tasted good even if wasnt what it says on the menu. The spice was at a perfect level.

Have had lunch buffet here many times and it is reasonable (usually two chicken choices and at least three or 4 vegetable choices, bread, salad, etc.). Placed an order for take out dinner - and it would qualify for Gordon Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares. Opened one dish and an insect flew out - checked closely and there were fruit flies crawling over a lemon wedge. The Mix Grill had beef that was clearly old and over cooked (as did one of the appetizers). It clearly had started out as a cube that was placed on a skewer but had shrunk and had the texture of beef jerky just too thick to chew (nearly petrified). Sent message on web site - but no response. So got menu and sales receipt only to find upon checking that I had been over charged by $10. Stopped by but were "not open" on Sunday though the menu says they are. Complained - politely. Brought sample of beef with me. Gave me back the over charge, and would only refund one dish. Pretty sad considering that one dish was tossed because of insect infestation and two others had the bad beef. Will never eat there again.

Id have to say that Taj Mahal is hands down the best Indian food in the capital district, and I have eaten at Ghandis and the Curry House in Albany and the Shalimar in Troy. Taj Mahal has the best Samosa, the crust was flaky and crisp without being overly thick. They served their Samosa with mint and tamarind chutney. The mint in the mint chutney was very fresh, and favored mint more than coriander. The tamarind chutney was also delicious. The naan was delicious. I personally prefer a thin, crunchier/bubblier naan, so for me their naan was right on point. The rice served with the main dish was outstanding. Perfectly cooked, lightly seasoned with whole cumin seeds. Longest grain rice I have ever seen. I ordered the chicken vindaloo. It was well spiced, and flavored. Me and a friend ate there, both of us shared an appetizer, had an order of naan, sodas, and a main course and the bill came out to $40. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. I cant wait to go back and try the rest of the menu

I cant say enough how lovely my boyfriend and Is experience was here today. We have been traveling for a few days beforehand, and were pleasantly surprised to find that there was an Indian restaurant near the Amtrak station. The food was tasty, affordable, and overall a great value. The service was really what stood out and made me want to review it, though. The owner (I think) was extremely hospitable and kind, and started us off with some free tea which I thought was a really nice touch. No one hovered over us (a pet peeve of mine), but the service was quick, and the waitress was cheerful. The owner was very personable, making small talk about our travels and even gave us some bottles of water and bananas for free for the last leg of our journey. Overall, great experience and will be coming back the next time were in town!

Ive eaten here several times, and Ive nearly always had a good experience. The food is very good, and the owner is extremely friendly and works very hard to make sure every customer is happy. We had just one bad experience, where the restaurant was also serving food for a nearby play, and was dramatically understaffed. I wish there had been better communication that day that there would be a significant delay getting our food... but I can also understand that they had a lot going on, and its sometimes hard to keep everything in order. Its never happened since! Whenever were in the area, we usually stop in and have a quick meal. As far as Indian places go, this one is our favorites in a very large area!

Delicious food but a long wait without reason. We, the hubbie and I, just went there and there was very little people there. When we ordered, there was a small group of people waiting for take out. While we waited for food, the one person before us already had their food on their table. It took them over 30mins to get the 2 main dishes out to us and they got the order wrong. It took them 10 mins to fix it.... Both the curry and the tika masala was good- very flavorful. Just not sure why there is such a wait when there was only 3 tables in total and the 1 before us was already had his food when we placed our order....

Best Services Ever : Owner is so helpful and considerate which i cant even express in word. I want to share my experience, I wanted to deliver food on my brothers birthday on off time when restaurant is not open. They just did not accommodate time but made timely delivery and also notify once completed. My brother enjoyed the food. It was very delicious and he was keep praising. I ordered vegetables , naan and desert. Everything exceed expectation/ I highly recommend this restaurant and its services.

I passed through Schenectady while traveling back to school, and on a whim stopped here to eat an early dinner with my girlfriend. Despite the fact the it had just barely opened and we the only people the there, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. When we told the owner about our travels, he gave us some food and water to take on our trip, free of charge! He obviously cares about his customers and I highly recommend the food.

Pakora: mostly batter... very, very crunch Potato: the sauce is a little runny compared to other Indian places Ive been to. Chicken curry: The meat was dry. This is because the sauce was not creamy. Tandoori chicken: this was decent... the meat could be cut a little better to avoid bone. I am of Asian decent so this was not a big deal. This was good, but... its definitely not authentic. lacked the smokey flavor (big time).

My wife and I have been to this place three times for dinner and loved it. The bottom line is that the food is excellent. It appears to be a husband-and-wife team, so the service can be slow (but friendly). The atmosphere is minimalist, and they dont serve alcohol, but we bring a bottle of wine. Ive had the lamb curry every time Ive been and havent found a reason to try something else.
