Let me start this off with Ive been here numerous times and usually this place doesnt disappoint. A tad pricy but you get good farm to table food and a very eclectic mix of beers. The bartenders are all very nice and knowledgeable about the beers they have and do a good job at offering something you may like based off your tastes. The issue I have currently is with my last visit. We went for brunch and service was incredibly slow. They do get packed so it can be understandable but we waited quite a long time for the food. The food came out and there was a mix up since the waiter didnt input it correctly, so a member of my party had to wait again for their food. We also asked for one of the outdoor heaters to be turned on as it was a rather cool morning. Nobody knew how to operate the heater, so we sat there. There were also a ton of bees everywhere and a lady behind us was freaking out as she was allergic to them. The next issue came with my girlfriends food. While she was eating she found a cooked bug in her eggs. We brought this to the attention of the server and he said "what would you like me to do about it?" With no real solution other than to bring new food or a plate to separate the bug...which is what he did. Now usually when something like this happens a manager comes over and apologizes and swears these things dont happen. I get it mistakes happen but the waiter didnt tell anybody about it, and said "yea thats gross". Also when these things happen, usually theres some sort of compensation for it (free drinks, comp the one food item, etc). No offering of anything. The thing that really threw us back was his offering to just separate the bug from the food and be done with it. It makes me not want to come back here and eat which disappoints me as the food is good (when its not tainted). The wait staff seem to not care too much for their customers which is sad, as I really do like this place. Ill still come back here for the beers and sit at the bar, but not for the food.

Overall the food was great- but the service was pretty lacking. This was a Monday night and it wasnt crowded at all. We sat outside as it was a beautiful night. Unfortunately, they forgot about us out there- we didnt get water or napkins or cutlery- just a food menu. No drink menu. When the waitress came to take our drink order after ten minutes we finally got the drink menu- but oddly there were no prices on the draft beer list she gave us- and no bottled beers were listed even though we saw them inside at the bar... Kinda odd for a brewpub not to list their entire selection. We had read a review that said most of the beers are $6 but the one my husband got was $8.50 when the bill came. I guess we could have asked but by the time she came back we were so hungry we just wanted to get our order in for everything. We then sat there for close to 40 minutes with our drinks before any of our small plates arrived- but we had no napkins or cutlery to eat with. After waiting for the waitress to swing back around to no avail, I ended up going and grabbing them myself. We split 3 small plates- the barbeque pulled pork nachos (fantastic), the sweet potato & bacon mac-n-cheese (good but not great) and the 3-meat charcuterie (the pork pate with the pickled egg was our favorite- although it initially was missing the pickled egg and sauce that was supposed to come with it) and the maple-bacon ice cream with 2 coffees for dessert. By the end the service had definitely improved so we ended our visit on a good note. All together it was $96 with tax and a 15% tip. 3 drinks, 3 small plates, and 1 dessert with coffees. Honestly it seemed a bit high given the level of service provided. I doubt we will be making a trip out of our way to return but if we are in the area we might stop in and give them another chance. Overall, I would go back for the food but not when Im super hungry. Lesson learned!

This is a review for Birdsall special events as we rented the beer garden for a Friday evening (7/7) to host a wedding rehearsal dinner and get together. They reserved the beer garden for our private party from 6:30 to 10pm and we provided trays of food for our guests with a cash bar. There was a reasonable flat rate for food and space plus an additional labor fee. The outdoor space was perfect for a casual dining and drinking event. The space easily accommodated our 40-50 guests with large wooden picnic tables; plus, the bocce court and hops vines were nice touches. For food, we ordered the fried chicken, pulled pork, wings, lamb sliders, guac + hummus, and jalapeño Mac n cheese. All delicious and amply supplied throughout the evening. For drinks, they set up a dual tap right outside for beer plus wine and sangria. Drinks were good, but pricey at $7 per beer and $10 per wine/sangria. Service was excellent and handled by Lisa and Jess outside. John, the event coordinator, worked closely with us to develop a custom menu. Only hiccup had to do with the tent rental, so make sure that is locked down ahead of your event. Tent rental shop had the wrong date for our event and John made an executive decision for us to forego the tent based on an optimistic outlook for the forecast. Unfortunately, it did land up raining and the lack of a tent created some chaos for our event. Although it was the tent rental shops mistake, there was no communication to us from Birdsall about it until we showed up, shocked to see that there wasnt a tent! Overall, great outdoors space with excellent food. I would recommend doing a drink package instead of cash bar and definitely make sure your tent rental is locked in!

The waitress was attentive and pleasant. We ordered 2 beers and they were great! My husband ordered the big bird burger(its on the small side for 1/2 lb). It was cooked perfectly. He asked for medium well. It was seasoned to perfection. Now the bad: we waited 50 mins for our food. I ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Im still looking for the pork!!! It was all shredded cabbage and carrots. The bread was super super toasted and hard. Both our fries were over cooked. Now the decor. I understand the Peekskill eclectic look, but the place needs help! A coat of paint. There are ways to give an eclectic look without looking dingy. Draft beer sizes need a reality check. Seriously!!! All in all our experience wasnt the best. 2 beers, a burger and a sandwich came to $52 +tip $65. I dont think well be coming back :(

It took me multiple visits to write a review because I always forgotten to-its that great that it doesnt occur to me people would be unaware of it. Everything Ive eaten here, from the carrot apple soup that tasted like autumn, to the grilled cheese to the burger to the charcuterie has been outstanding. The food is artesian with subtle flavors; they have house-made ketchup. They also have a large selection of beers and micro brews and screen old black and white movies against the wall. It is the quintessential gastropub. I go back every time Im in the area.
