What happened to Forno Bistro?? Tammy and I have always favored this restaurant above all choices downtown in Saratoga Springs. The last couple of visits, we found ourselves heckled by convention goers from across the street...and tonite...inexcusable food undercooked and overcooked. My wife ordered greens and beans as an entree. For starters, I must say, when Michael was tending bar...(he left recently very unhappily)...her greens and beans was served on a regular entree oval dinner plate...properly cooked and heated and she enjoyed it...Tonite...her entree arrived on a small plate, and was cold. We asked the bartender..(female)..if it could please be heated...it came back steaming...albeit on a small plate...with small portion size. Next to arrive was my order. My portobello mushroom special and my Brussels sprout orders were both burned beyond recognition...I am uploading pictures to facebook to show how burned my orders were....It was obvious to my wife and I that my orders came out carbonized because she complained that her entree was cold....Mick Gregg...Operations Manager for DZ Restaurants asked us to leave because we complained...we are still in shock...We just saw David Zechinni twice...while dining at Boca Bistro on Mothers day...and the week prior. Sad day for DZ...Mick Gregg mentioned the guy that was heckling us weeks earlier during convention week...he asked us to leave.....after getting 3 burned or undercooked orders at Forno Bistro Restaurant....no issues at Boca. Steer clear of Forno. Mick Gregg has ensured, that we will never return again to Forno...Every picture tells a story dont it....and excuse us Mick Gregg...the first order came out wrong to begin with....and yes...we are very unhappy when the rest of the food comes out charred because we complained the first order was cold...we tried to soldier up...and deal with it...but it was so unpalatable we could not...Mick let his emotions get in the way of good management practices...he was pissed off that we complained...and instead of having our food replaced...he asked us to leave...very...very...unprofessional.

I was invited out to dinner for Restaurant Week in Saratoga and my friend chose Forno Bistro to try. We had an early dinner reservation (6:00PM) on Friday. We were seated right away at a long high table that was shared with other patrons with high metal stools with no back and no where to hang a coat or a purse. Our table was painfully close to the bar, and I was continually being bumped by patrons at the bar, as they passed. We ordered drinks and when mine arrived I had basically a tall glass filled with ice and a splash of rum with an ounce of coke. Despite not having a private table we tried to make the best of it. Service was good, a little slow, but it was Friday night. The red sauce on both the pasta and meatballs (two separate dishes) was exactly the same, and tasted like something out of a can, with no embellishments to make it their own. The choices they had for restaurant week were just "okay" nothing spectacular to get you to come back. By the end of the meal my back was in pain from sitting on the stool for two hours. I can say I would not go back and will not recommend this restaurant to friends. The restaurant is in a great location but their desire to pack in as many patrons as possible on these long high tables with stools, that are too close together is a definite turn off. Of note, in the front of the restaurant they do have regular tables, but there are only maybe a dozen if that. And they only accommodate 4-5 guests, so if you have a large group you will be relegated to the long tables with stool. If you are a couple, unless you specifically reserve a table, you will be seated at the high tables as well.

I chose Forno Bistro to cater a private event. The restaurant came highly recommended, but I realized that I had not sampled the food. I spoke to Michele at DZ restaurants and asked if it was possible to order a sampler of appetizers chosen specifically for my party. Of course, she was very agreeable. That evening, when my husband and I arrived at the restaurant, I spoke to the manager, Dan. He greeted us warmly and informed me that the kitchen was aware of the "Camacho" party and that they were already preparing our selection of appetizers. The service was excellent. It was friendly, efficient and our waitress, Alexandra, was very attentive. The sampler of antipasti was very satisfying. In particular the Arancini (fried rice balls), the asparagus wrapped in pancetta, and the shrimp all cooked to perfection. My husband sampled the watermelon lychee martini which was excellent. For the entree, I had the Pollo Panato and my husband had the veal involtini. The chicken was adequate. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the veal. It was tasty and tender. I definitely will return to this restaurant for its food, its service, and the ambiance.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. The food was excellent but the customer service was ridiculous. My friends and I went and got out 630 reservation on time. We received our food in an okay amount of time, however we received our appetizer after our entrees. There was never one clear waitress, we had about four different women "serving" us, not that they ever bothered to check on us. We waited twenty minutes when we were done with our meals to have them bagged up. I had to ask for a dessert menu myself, once those were received it took another fifteen minutes for us to order our desserts, another fifteen to receive them. Upon paying for our check, we waited fifteen minutes for our change. The only reason we even got it back was due to the fact that I had to go up and see the hostess and ask for our change. They gave us the wrong amount, and when I told them they went to fix it and gave us the wrong amount again. I was beyond disgusted and left. I wish I did not give a tip, they did not deserve one. Great food if you can put up with the horrible service. Disappointing.

Just left there, the waitress was great. The assistant manager was at first pleasant. The waitress offered me two wines to taste, and that was great. We ordered our drinks and meals, one appetizer to share and two entries. After eating almost all of our appetizer I noticed small pieces of plastic in my mouth. I told the waitress and aked her not to notify the cook. She told the assistant manager and he went towards the kitchen.then we stated we wanted to pay for What we had and cancel the remaining order.the assistant manger offered me a glass of wine in compensation. I then decided it best to leave. He then comped the wines and appetizer, but was condensending about my choice not to trust the cook again, very disappointed. The calamari was over cooked but bearable. Good bye Forno ...........

I was a repeat customer until recently. I took my mother there for an early dinner and asked for the "Forno at 5" menu as it was advertised on their website and on the sign in front of the restaurant. After our waitress gave us the special menu, the manager came over and rudely ripped them out of our hands saying they were not offering any specials anymore. Needless to say, we left without ordering. Any decent business will honor the specials they openly advertise when guests ask for them. Taking the menus away from us after they were already in our hands is flatly bad etiquette. The only proper thing for them to do was to eat the cost, but apparently they didnt want our money that bad. I will never go there again. I will make sure my friends know not to visit there either.
