Chianti IL Ristorante – Saratoga Springs, NY – 7/30/2016 Saratoga Springs… Known for the horse races… This quaint little town has a downtown that hosts a number of small shops and restaurants… After spending the day at the races, we walked thru downtown visiting some of those stores while we waited for our scheduled dinner reservations… Tonights dining adventure would take us to Chianti IL Ristorante… From the moment we announced our arrival, we felt completely welcomed… We were seated in one of the dining rooms to the left. Our server tonight; Kevin… Kevin knew the menu like the back of his hand and with passion described each dish in full detail… I could practically taste each dish from Kevin’s descriptions… Our feast started with the Salumi e Formaggi… Assortment italian cold cuts and cheeses with spicy mostarda... For the first time I was introduced to the Caper Berry… Beautifully arranged on a wooden cutting board… It tasted as good as it looked! Next… The Coccio... Calamari, garlic and herbs sautéed in a delicately spiced tomato broth with a side of crostini… An amazing sauce with a kick that just screamed for bread… Then the Tiger Shrimp… Where do I even begin with this one…? A four ounce Shrimp served with mixed greens… Wow… Just wow!... If you tell them what you want, if they have it, theyll accommodate your request even if its not on the menu… The product that executive chef Fabrizio Bazzani creates in his kitchen is nothing short of magic! Our mains this evening... Linguini Vongole...Clams with an accompanying sauce over pasta was amazing! Pork Shoulder Ossobucco served with Roasted Potatoes and Green Beans… I honestly have never tasted a dish this good and mind you Ive had this dish in many fine restaurants… Many really well prepared but none exactly perfect like this one!The tangyness of the sauce was something my palate just was not prepared for… Other than the bone, I ate every morsel of this dish… Veal Chop… Prepared medium rare was another delight to the senses… Like the Ossobucco, accompanied by Roasted Potatoes and Green Beans… Magical… Strip Steak… Prepared Medium was fabulous! We shared a half order of the house pasta special… A Rigatoni with white wine, mushrooms and Veal was another one of those amazing accompaniments that just tied everything together… As if our senses werent already on overload, out comes the dessert… Semifreddo Mascarpone E Ciocciolato...Semi frozen dessert of ricotta and mascarpone cheese with rose water, almonds, and chocolate bits… The chocolate, attached to the plate added a challenge to the dessert placed atop it... Add to this the Chocolate Hazelnut Gelato, a double Espresso and a couple of Cappuccinos and life is truly complete… And mind you prior to tonight I did not eat anything Hazelnut but this was just so good… This place is a perfect ten! From the personal attention of Jim the manager, Kevin our server and David the owner, for our first time here it was an extremely special evening! So much so weve already planned our return visit… Despite the fact that its a seven hour drive round trip, we’ll make a weekend… If an amazing dining experience with off the charts attentive customer service is your bag, Ive got the perfect restaurant for you; Chianti IL Ristorante in Saratoga Springs, New York! Ask for Jim and tell him Paul sent you… Youll love it as much as we did… It bears repeating… Wow!

Yesterday was our 4th time attending Chianti. It was my first time eating there since being diagnosed with celiac. BC (before celiac) Chianti was our favorite "special event" restaurant. We had hesitated going because, from their online menus, there didnt appear to be many gluten free options. We had a gift card so we gave it a go. I was amazed all over again! They had many more GF items than stated on their online menu. PLUS - they also offered GF pasta (although it was an additional $2). We didnt have a reservation so we sat in the bar, which was a first for us. Our waiter (who was a bartender) was outstanding and was able to answer all my GF questions. He brought bread to our table for my husband and because I couldnt eat it, he brought me a complimentary bowl of olives (on his own - not asked or ordered). My risotto was outstanding and my husband enjoyed his meal as well. They even had an amazing flour-less chocolate torte - YUMMMMM!

This restaurant falls into a generic category of less than memorable, but adequate restaurants. As with the modern genre, it has spent well on decorating and organizing. It falls short on great food. We had a dish of mussels that was good. A fish soup that only had one piece of fish. The clams, mussels, and overload of calamari were definitely worth forgetting. Oh yeah, there was one shrimp. The pork chop off the bone, was overcooked and potatoes were cold.

I paid $26 for 1/2 cup of risotto and maybe 1 Oz of filet mixed in. The risotto was crunchy, can not believe a chef can not tell the difference between cooked and uncooked rice. But the amount of filet is what really killed me. It was literally a couple shavings of beef. It was 20 cents of uncooked rice and maybe .75 cents of beef in the whole dish. Wow what a disappointment. Oh and of course the pungent wine that wasnt cooked off, that was worth the $26.

The service is terrific. The ambiance is lovely. It is extremely noisy: that may be because people are drinking from the wine list, and everyone knows one gets louder with wine w each glass. LOL. I was disappointed with the shrimp risotto and the spubach was over cooked. The pasta special was anything but "special", but the asabucca was terrific. The simple but elegant spaghetti w tomato and basil was just right. And the wine was delicious! **

The owner of this place is friendly, and wants to make sure everyone is happy. The menu is short, simple, and sophisticated. This is not a casual dining experience. The only downside is that its loud for an upscale restaurant. But that is due to the open kitchen, which is actually an interesting facet.

Ive gone to this restaurant since it was on Broadway and the food has always been of the best quality. Great wait staff and great ambiance. The dinning is somewhat compact but if youre comfortable with that its a great experience

We had dinner on Sunday night. Very romantic setting. Nice staff. The food was delicious! We will definitely be back. The only negative to our visit was my wifes dinner wasnt very hot. But it tasted very good.

High energy atmosphere gives it a big city feel. Sometimes I would eat an "early" dinner just so I could come back later night for another one. The gemelli with vodka sauce is the best.

Ive dined here many times and the food is always great. This is true Italian food, like what Ive had in Italy, not Americanized Italian food where everything is covered in red sauce.

Been here five times over the past 8 years, always amazing and authentic dishes, from appetizers to dessert. The head chef is from Verona. Great wine and cocktail menu.

The food is very expensive for the quality. It didnt amaze me but it had the cost of a place that should amaze me. Only go there if you take part in one of their deals.

Poor attitude. Chairs were very hard and uncomfortable. We were expecting outstanding food based on other reviews but all we got was overpriced mediocre food.
