Taco Bell has better Mexican food and better service as well. Exceedingly slow service; it took the waitress over 20 minutes to get drinks for me and my date and when the drinks did arrive, it tasted as if there was no alcohol in them at all. By the time the waitress returned to our table, the ice in our drinks had all but melted making the problem that much worse. When I told her our problem, she did apologize and offer to bring us new drinks. Before I was able to open my mouth to ask for a new drink, she was already helping another table. When she returned 10 minutes later, I had moved on from my drink and just wanted to order. My date ordered enchiladas and I ordered a couple of tacos. As we waited for our food, the waitress never came back to see if we wanted new drinks or even to refill our waters. After what seemed like a month and a day our food had arrived. My date was disappointed to only see one enchilada on her plate even though she ordered ENCHILADAS and shock, the temperature of my tacos was somewhere between an ice cube and hot pocket that has been microwaved for 45 seconds. Our waitress took my took my tacos back to the kitchen seemingly to throw them in their microwave and that was fine with me; at that point I just wanted to eat and leave. Now I dont know if they are using a microwave from 1967 but, it took a good 10 or so minutes to get them back. Now my tacos were as warm as a hot pocket that was microwaved for a solid minute as opposed to a mere 45 seconds. I ate them just to leave as soon as possible. As an attempt to compensate us for our troubles the waitress said she would bring a dessert on the house. She brought us a plate of apple crisp she said was "right from the oven", the apples were from a can and were ice cold just making the entire situation and her comment about the oven insult to injury. I wasted 40 dollars and two hours on two tacos, one enchilada and two watery drinks. I tipped a whole nickel too. (in our waitress defense, she was the only serve staff working ten busy tables that night).

My husband and I love this restaurant. Weve probably been here 4-5 times since March 2010. Their wine list is different from what you would normally find at rochester restaurants. Its excellently priced and offers selections like torrontes and other South American wines which pair well with the food. My favorite dish is their pan seared salmon with tequila cream sauce. My husband loves the chicken mole. Weve also had the tacos, guacamole, and the cuban sandwich. The salsa and the guacamole that come with the tortillas are very good and make up for the fact that the tortilla chips are probably not homemade. Everything weve had has been excellent and has made us choose this restaurant over and over again. The nice thing about this place is that it is pretty small which creates a relaxed atmosphere where you can recognize the staff pretty quickly. We think their chef is excellent and have always had great service which is also reasonably priced; a tough find in Rochester. The colors inside the restaurant make it fun to dine here and we love sitting outside people watching and sipping wine outside. You will not be disappointed. This is not a "Mexican" restaurant. They tout themselves as more of a Central American restaurant, which is great because it allowed the chef to create a very inventive menu. We love how the food is always filling but you fel tlike you had a very fresh, flavorful, HEALTHY meal as well. We love it here.

The place was smaller than expected but cute. My husband and I went there for a much needed date night. When I went to use the ladies room it was behind the bar and next to the kitchen. It was filthy and had a ton of fruit flies. This should have been our first clue to just leave. The server was nice and got our drinks quickly which were the best part of our whole experience. We ordered the con Queso and it was terrible. No flavor and the cheese separated from whatever milk they used. The chips were obviously not homemade and too salty. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas which came out with canned red tomato sauce and not enchilada sauce. The chicken was cooked well and flavored ok but the beans and rice were awful. I ordered the beef tacos. The shell was overcooked and the meat had no flavor. The greens that come with it tasted like dirt. We barely took a few bites and we were done. The server came back too ok our plates and never commented in the fact that we didnt eat it. 64 dollars later we left very disappointed and hungry. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Dont waste your time. Go straight to salenas!!!

We sat outside, which was really nice. Our water tasted funny and my fiances diet coke tasted funny - I think it was because of the type of glass or something, because my margarita was fine, and his soda was fine out of the can. The waitress wasnt extremely nice about it, which was strange. I got a strawberry margarita and it was pretty good - until I took a sip and drank in some black twisty tie thing and almost swallowed it (yuck). That grossed me out a little bit and so I didnt drink much of it after that. I ordered the salmon with tequila cream sauce, which was delicious. I normally am not much of a fish person - I dont like it when things taste fishy - but the mix of the sauce with the avocado and rice was good. Only bad thing about the meal was that some of the rice grains were hard, either not cooked properly or sitting around for a while beforehand, Im not sure. While Im glad I went and tried it, I probably wont be back again any time soon because it didnt wow me. I just might try to make some salmon with tequila cream sauce and avocado on my own, though. MMMM!!!

Great little Mexican fusion restaurant and bar. Menu is not extensive but everything weve had during multiple visits has been very good! The food is presented beautifully. House margaritas are a good value and good down smooth! Watch it though! Two or three rounds of drinks can easily cost more than your food! Weve sat outside on cafe seating each time so I cant comment on the inside.

Nice food and drink selection, but who hired the workers there?? Each one seems angry beyond comment. Its one thing to hate your job and be apathetic but to look like you are gonna flip-out on the next customer, makes it VERY easy to leave and not spend your money there. Just saying. Great drinks, but the person bringing them to us made us leave early. Poor choice in staff.

Definitely a Rochestarians take on Mexican food. Dorado is not the place to go for anything authentic when it comes to Latin American dining. The food is sub par for a Park Ave restaurant, not much seems to be fresh despite efforts to dress butchered "Mexican" entrees with a heap of green salad. Dorado was far too Americanized to merit a second visit.

Dorado has great, fresh food. Fantastic verde salsa, and very satisfying, affordable, and perfectly-cooked tacos. Go here and eat their food, because it is very, very good--not some kind of glorified Taco Bell like most other Mexican restaurants in Rochester. This is actual food that is fresh. Highly suggested!
