We were there last night for a casual high school reunion...a few of us decided ahead of time to get a table, so we made a reservation for 10. We were running a bit late, but a few of us showed up, but we were told if everyone is not here, you cannot have the table. Then we were told that if EVERYONE wasnt there in half an hour, we couldnt have the table. Then a couple of people wanted to sit, so we were given a table for 4, then added another table to seat 6, then another to make 8...it was pathetic, especially since there were table available and they were not busy at this time...then the owners sister who was the manager, was clearly annoyed that we didnt all arrive on time together, so she continued to walk by giving us all dirty looks ALL NIGHT. The only saving grace for service was our waiter Brandon...he was excellent and a shining example of what customer service should be. 2 of us ordered the Fish and Chips...please dont order it there...it tasted like it was fished out of the Hudson a few days after the fish died...we sent it back and were told the chef forgot to salt the fish...trust me, salt would not have helped since it may have enhanced the awful fishy taste...I found a beer I liked, the Cream Ale, but they ran out by about 9pm...I know it is a brewery, but do you think they could stock their bar for those that dont drink beer...maybe Malibu or Sangria...no, none of those there and like I said, they ran out of the Cream Ale. I would love to give back to a local Peekskill business, but none of us at our table will ever return there...other than the food issues and lack of alcohol choices and their running out of beer, by far the worst part of our experience was the rude service we received by Management, the owners sister...she seriously needs to find a job outside of customer service or she will put her brother out of business!!!

With its close proximity to Bear Mountain, we came here after a hiking adventure to rehydrate and refuel. Expecting some good bar/pub style food along with some craft beers, we were surprised that this brewery was the most "upscale" that we have visited. The 1st floor consists of a tap room and the 2nd floor is where the dining room and bar area is. We went up to have a few appetizers and a flight only to be presented with an atmosphere that made me feel almost unwelcomed (I actually did not think I was even in a brewery any more). While the place was certainly nice in its appeal, it seems like they were trying to focus more on their food than their beer. We ordered 2 appetizers due to the price of the food and were given small portions of gourmet-style food. While I have to admit the food was delicious, I was looking more for pub fare to go along with my flight. That being said, they offer flights, but they charge you per beer based off the "tasting price." This led to only 4 samples for at minimum $10. After our 2 appetizers and a flight, down $30 and still hungry/thirsty, we hit the bakery across the street and then headed off for another brewery. If in the area again, I will probably drive further up the road to the Gilded Otter brew pub if I am looking for food and craft beer. However, the beers at Peekskill are good and I would definitely come back just to visit the tasting room. As long as you come here with an attitude to spend some money for gourmet-style food [burgers even start at $12], then you will not be disappointed. If you are like me from NJ and are just looking for some greasy pub fare to go with your brews, then look elsewhere.

The beer keeps getting better while the food and service plunges. I had been in their original spot a few times, and have only good things to say across the board. My visits to the new spot are getting increasingly worse. This last time I brought a group of 8. A few of us had burgers, we requested medium rare, they were quite overcooked as were the fries, almost tasted like reheated frozen ones. The server only brought a dish of ketchup with one of them. I asked for some for everyone. A few minutes went by and nothing, I got up and hunted the server down and asked again. I was told they were in the back squeezing packets out to fill containers.....enough said. Bad service, long waits (not a big crowd) and not very good food....maybe you get one more chance. Update-why do I even bother..... Keeps getting worse. This last visit I came in with a group of nine. Upstairs was a third full at best. We were told an hour wait. They couldnt accommodate us even splitting the group. On the way out one of our party tried to express disappointment to the management, then they offered to try to accommodate us. Too little too late. Get your service together.

We were at the brewery last night for dinner which has always been excellent in the past, arriving at 7:15 PM with an 8:00 PM reservation. The hostess stated “it will be around 8 PM” to my wife, so we said no problem as we will try a some of the different beers at the bar which were very good too. 8 PM rolled around, and we did not get notified until 8:15 PM that our table was ready, but we wanted to settle with the bartender first. After almost 10 minutes, we finally were able to settle, so we went to the hostess who stated, “you looked comfortable so I seated someone else who was waiting”! This was after waiting an HOUR, but we did show up early. We stood there another 15 minutes while she sat other people who showed up there after us and totally ignored us, so we left without dinner. This was made even worse by her “under the breath” comments about coworkers. I cannot believe we went to the brewery for our anniversary dinner…. never experienced such bad service or attitude by someone before at a restaurant.

Restaurant and brewery near the Peekskill waterfront. I stopped by the tap room to pick up a growler of Simple Sour for my sister and ended up hanging out for a bit to sample some of the other beers. The bartender was friendly and patient while I tried to decide which ones sounded best. I had a flight of "Taste the Rainbow" (wheat beer with floral and spice notes), "Wake Up Call" (pale ale with strong coffee bean flavor), "Simple Sour" (imagine a ton of grapefruit rind and bitter green apple in a pilsner), and "Shotgun Willie" (IPA similar to Dogfish Head 90 Minute). Oh, and a giant pretzel made by Rockland Bakery with some killer horseradish mustard. I havent been to the restaurant yet so I cant comment on the negative reviews of that part, but Ill definitely be coming back to see whats new on tap.

Only a few miles off the Taconic Parkway, Peekskill is a great stop for a craft beer fan of any caliber. I decided to visit Peekskill on my way back from Albany on Super Bowl Sunday at a friends suggestion. I sampled my way through the taplist and was surprised at the quality beer that was being put out. Their Simple Sour and Higher Standard Double IPA are not to be missed. With over 15 beers available in sizes ranging from tasters to growler fills, theres something for everyone. Aesthetically speaking, the space is gorgeous, but even the staff acknowledges a need for new chairs at the bar tops. I was full from a previous stop and was unable to comment on their food offerings, but there were some damn good smells coming out of that kitchen. A worthwhile stop by all means.
