Dined here on a Friday night during restaurant week. Started off with a cocktail - after 10 minutes of deciding from their fun and unique menu, was told it was unavailable (why not black it out, put a paper over it or have server tell you this? And they did not come up with a somewhat similar replacement). Frustrating! We made reservations, and stayed at the bar area until our table was ready, but then learned that table was in the bar area, so we stayed put...why bother to reserve if were getting put in such a loud area? So disappointing! Appetizers came out SUPER fast! They were quite good. Then we sat, and waited, and waited for our entrees. They were SO small, I would have expected them to be lunch portions! Chose restaurant because of a smoked meatloaf that sounded delish, but it was Cajun, not smoked. These are not the same! Manager came over with a bit of an attitude like I was being annoying, but it was too spicy to eat! It was not at all as advertised! They comped my appetizer since I ordered off restaurant week menu and I could just pay entree off menu. They offered to make something else, but I didnt want my husbands food to get cold since it took so long in the first place, so I skipped to a fast dessert. I ordered peanut butter ice cake. It came out warm and tasted like a slightly chilled cheesecake. Once again, very different from the description. My husbands dessert was part of restaurant week, and was a layered carrot cake in a plastic cup. Tacky, but the cake was good, although no creamcheese frosting, more of a whipped cream. I spoke to someone before we left and asked the GM call me. It has been 11 days...I waited before posting this review. The restaurant is so pretty, but I would NOT go back!

caveat: good food, bad smell. Our dinner was great, no complaints about the food at all. Hot, fresh, well trimmed, and plenty of it. I was dissappointed that the tea was regular tea, not green tea. The service was friendly and its evident they get a lot of take out business. Would I order from there? anytime. Would I eat there again? unlikely: It doesnt take much to make a place look, feel and smell CLEAN, the atmosphere in this place is dreadful, bright lights, no music to cover up the sound of the toilet flushing. I had to continuously remind myself that all the best asian food Ive ever had has always been in unusual holes-in-the-wall, thats the only thing which kept me from walking out. Im glad we stayed for the food, but boy, if the owners would take even just one or two thousand bucks to freshen up the place, get some music, candles and dimmer switches, ditch the glaring lights, resand the floors, spend a buck on some tablecloths/laundry service, that would go a long way. What a shame that they have all this space and are wasting it. Do yourself a favour and order from here, though. The food is really good.

Brunch menu could have a little more regular lunch options. More eggs than sandwiches. Took more than 10 minutes to get a drink order. Husband tested a beer and decided to get soda. We both thought she rolled her eyes. Took our meal order and she seemed annoyed when I asked how big the sandwhich was. I told her we have never been there so we have no idea on plate size. She took our order and NEVER showed up again (after passing our table 3 times but never stopping) never asked about our meal, never got refills. I wanted dressing for my fries as I dont eat ketchup. Never got it. We waited for 20 min for her to get our dessert order and that happened ONLY because she caught me glaring at her at another table.when she brought our dessert spoons, we felt like they were tossed on the table. She did ask how dessert was but that was the only time she showed up. End of meal. The food was VERY good. Its unfortunate that the service left us not wanting to go back. 45 min ride to experience a rude waitress. We left a tip knowing the monies were shared. Otherwise ZIP. Food good. Service not so much.

We had been frequenting this restaurant for several years now. The food is not really chinese but it is not bad. Their service has never been the best, it was always acceptable. We often go their with friends and enjoy a relaxed american restaurant that serves chinese food. But lately, their service has turned from relaxed to not caring... My wife and I went their with another couple and our 2 boys. The server was nowhere in sight after serving our food. We had to go to the bar area to ask for drink and refill of rice. Server will smoke in between taking orders and bringing food. We had to wait many minutes before getting served or even to pay the bill... and yet, they out 18% gratuity on top of the bill - I understand the custom of charging for a party of 6 or more... and thats exactly what they did for such a horrible service. No wonder there were 4 other people besides us eating there on Sunday at 6:30 PM.

First let me say that in 50+ years eating in restaurants, I sent back food twice and never complain. However, I cannot let this go... I ordered what was listed as surf & turf; sirloin steak & shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes & yellow zucchini medley (or such)....$30. I got; 4 medium shrimp, 6, half dollar sized medallions of beef and a tablespoon of potatoes & veggies! Tasted very good though. My wife ordered fish & chips. Although fish was OK, if fell apart in the dish (fried in too hot oil ?). Got french fries as chips (oily ...fried in too cold oil ?). No bread, no salad included Waiter asked if she wanted vinegar ...yes please. Another beer....yes please. Never got the vinegar,..... got the beer for desert. A double expresso....Id say 2 ounces. $6 Bill $76. We had a gift certificate for $75 and left a $12 tip.... If it wasnt for the gift certificate, I would have sent back my $30 meal .....not worth it.

Im Chinese and let me tell you, those so called chinese restaurants here in poughkeepsie are all junk food, except this one. In China, you will never see something like "General Tsos Chicken". Its all invention from overseas chinese immigrants. The food you think that are chinese, are absolutely 100% NOT. My wife and I have tried hundreds of restaurants in Tristate area and very few offer authentic chinese food, and if they do, american customers dont like it. Thats why, in order to survive, the chinese restaurants here have to offer these garbages that suits the taste of mostly american customers. In you bring those food to china, even pigs wont eat it. Before digress too far, I have to say this restaurant is the only one in poughkeepsie that do offer some authentic chinese dishes, and they taste OK. Compared with those other horrible tasting MSG ridden chinese food around the area, this is the best.

When I first moved here from Syracuse area of New York I enjoyed Mill House very much. In Syracuse my neighbors were Chinese and would make me traditional cooking and the best rated chinese food in the SU area was next to the pizza shop I worked at for 3 years, I learned how to play on a Wok line there. Now their food has gone down hill fast the fried rice was over steamed and soggy and lacking flavor the sweet and sour pork was 11 pieces of and a bunch of vegetables. The pork was also soggy and nasty. My girlfriends food was also nasty and under cooked. When we called for a refund they told us it was not possiable they would give us a credit. I will never eat here again. Im a CIA student and 16 year veteran of the culinary field go to a local corner chinese food place its better, lager quantity and the price is a lot cheaper since its not own by WHITE PEOPLE.
