Went here with a party of 8 for a birthday lunch. The area is typical of a harbor restaurant, the surroundings are a bit of a storage area which arent great but then the boats and the water more than make up for it. There is also ample parking and the service was excellent with very attentive, accommodating staff. The views off the boat section are quite nice. We were quickly seated, offered drinks and the food came out very quickly too. We were there early, around 11:45am, so there wasnt really a crowd yet. I can honestly say without exaggeration, the food was the worst I have eaten at any restaurant ever. I really wanted it to be good, but it wasnt, not at all. The steak, eggs and homefries were cold, flavorless, and seemed damp, like it was resting in a steamy casserole for too long. The lobster rolls were unnappetizing and looked like they was put together out of a can. The calamari was deep fried, breaded and looked droopy and sad. I really am unsure who writes the food reviews for these places, I really find it hard to believe that anyone who has been to any mediocre restaurant would consider the food great let alone fair. Perhaps I went on a bad day? I will most definitely not be back.

Everyone I know who has been to Harbor Crab loves it. My sister and her fiancé go practically once a week in the summer. However, my experience was less than exciting. Before we sat down, we had a drink at the bar while waiting for our table. I ordered a sangria & what I got was essentially a pina colada. Pina coladas taste like sunblock to me. We sat in the boat which was, of course, a novelty and beautiful. However, the interior of the boat was nothing special. Our waitress, Katie, was relatively mediocre. I usually taste the wine first for my family, but she presented some pushback in this regard, telling my dad he should as he ordered it. My sister says the service off the boat is better. The food was okay, but by the time wed gotten there (on steak night, which is weird for a seafood place), theyd run out of one of the steak options, one of the potato options, and the vegetable of the day. It was only roughly 8pm. I wish that I felt a need to return to harbor crab, as id only heard good things until my own experience, but I will most likely not be back.

The Harbor crab is a magnificent place to eat, a great place to socialize and it is run by professional gentlemen who all local long Islanders. Each owner has its own specific professional personality as well as the knowledge gentlemen like ways. The staff is magnificent from the bartenders to the cook, weight is waitresses and hostess. Their food is always consistent and served with a smile. This is a great place to take your family or just go and have a couple of nice drinks on the water. Its a fabulous place to pull up to where there is always a slip of available in the courtesy dock to have a relaxing afternoon or evening. I highly recommend this establishment. I have been a patron for approximately 10 years. Bruce R

Ordered the scallops for $28.... I got five less than silver dollar size scallops and not even the jumbo size with some distasteful cold risotto and asparagus. Very deceiving. It was more of an appetizer than entrée. What a ripoff. I hate sending food back thats why I didnt . I fear the worst. Plus I was in the mood for crab legs, but all they had to offer was something listed on the menu as "Crab Pieces"??? This is just a prime example of a restaurant over charging for food that you can easily buy yourself at the grocery store for 1/3 of the price. I guess we paid for the location by the river. It would have been even nicer if there werent so many bees flying around our table. The servers were nice though.

My wife and I like to dine out. We both work full time and enjoy a weekly night out to dine and relax. We try a lot of different restaurants for variety. The Harbour Crab is one of the best. Scenic location on the Patchogue River. Food is great and served with a smile. They frequently have musical entertainment that adds to the appeal. And they give back to the community. The owners are active in Rotary and other service organizations and support a number of charities. That s important to us! Cant go wrong at the Harbour Carb restaurant. Check it out:) Dr. Dave Paumanok Veterinary Hospital

I have been going to the Harbor Crab Co. in Patchogue for many years and have never been unhappy. The place is so inviting that I use it for many special occasions, Anniversaries, birthdays, etc... The food is Excellent, I usually order the Filet Mignon and my wife orders the Pasta Fra Diavolo. The staff has always been attentive and very friendly. The only (small) complaint I do have is that its a bit noisy on Friday and Saturday night if you sit near the door leading to the Tiki lounge, but you really have to expect that. 5 stars all the way!!! We decided to give the place a 2nd chance after having a bad experience last month. Im sorry, but the seafood is by far the worst Ive tasted anywhere. The service was very slow and the manager (I assume it was the manager, because he was walking around the place acting like he owned it), had an attitude. At least there werent 63 different forms of entertainment going on simultaneously this time. That was what killed it the 1st time.

Had dinner here tonight (New Years day), my wife had the Alaskan King Crab legs which she absolutely loved. I had filet mignon which was a little on the small size, but very good. Dinner with 1 drink, 1 glass of wine, coffee, tea and 1 desert was $111. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Dining available inside or on a party boat which is pretty cool (boat never leaves the dock). Will have to revisit in the spring or summer.

I love this place!!! Brain and Mark are so friendly as is Kathleen and the rest of the staff, the food is awesome, the view is great!! The BEST part is the Saturdays from 7-10 that "Chuck Evans Band" plays!! Most places dont have live music until 9-10 pm, too late for us, we like to go to Harbor crab at 5-6 , eat dinner and then dance with the "Chuck Evans Band" Great night out every month , that we really look forward to.

First time at Harbor Crab Co. for lunch. Started with Crab and Corn Chowder and Baked Clams. Good start. Main courses were Mussels with White Wine and Fish and Chips. Dined on top deck of the Steamboat. Nice breeze. Atmosphere was relaxing, the view was nice and our waitress was very happy to help with any of our questions. We will be back for dinner soon.

Beautiful views when you sit outside. Competent meal but severely lacking seasoning. Unsalted butter for crab legs? Really? No salt tossed in the food after it comes out of the fryer? The food was cooked properly however and there was a salt shaker. Kind of rookie stuff though.

while the service was excellent the $ 45 lobster wasnt. It was tough and chewey, totally overcooked, the tomale was reduced to a puddle.i had the impression it had been microwaved because it remained too hot to handle for an impossible amount of time. Will not patronize again.
