My husband and I were driving through nanuet for a late lunch (approx 3 pm) and decided to stop for a quick bite. So regretted that we did. The table want cleaned when they seated us and that should have tipped us off, but oh well. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger deluxe and he ordered the macaroni and cheese special with a cup of chicken soup. The chicken soup tastes like salty water, and we waited an additional 30 min for the mains to arrive. The Mac and cheese looked fine, but I mentioned to the waitress that the burger deluxe also comes with onion rings which were missing. She answered no problem, and promptly returned with 2 onion rings in HER BARE HAND that she promptly dropped over my fries onto my plate. Needless to say I asked to see the manager. She returned with another server and they began to discuss the serving of the food with bare hands in front of us in Spanish. At which point I answered in fluent Spanish that yes she brought the food with her bare hands, and I dont think youre the manager. He apologized and said that he wasnt and said that he would bring us a new plate and that the manager wasnt necessary. I said it absolutely was necessary and the manager came to the table. She offered us anything on the menu gratis, which I politely refused, because if thats how the waitstaff are trained in terms of hygiene and food safety, I cant really trust your kitchen. She offered to let us into the kitchen to watch our food being prepared, but I had lost my appetite by then. Needless to say, we didnt pay for the drinks or tasteless soup.

This place is terrible! I used to love going there but it gets worse everytime I go. 1st off, I am in the middle of drinking my coffee and a waiter kicked my sons high chair with pretty good force and did not say sorry. Never mentioned it. To top it off, some lady who works in the front and just takes customers to their seats, pretty much scolded my wife and I and told my son he better sit down. I personally asked her not to do that as we are the parents and she told me "I dont care what you want." Lets remember this is a lady who works there! I am not a child- I am a 40 year old man. That might of been the most rude person I have ever dealt with. Then she started yelling back at me telling me "I dont care about you a few times!" I asked the staff to get the owner or the manager and they said "he is not here." They did nothing and just watched. I was amazed. Is this what it is like now and is this the reason I hardly see kids in the place anymore. Mind you my son is only 2 years old. Parents and families who walk in there beware. Definitely will not be going there ever again and some how or another I have to find the owner. He needs to know how bad the service is there but I can almost guarantee he probably does not care either. As a business owner, I know if you do not care, it will reflect off the people who work with you. Again- Amazing. If you want to have a good day, dont start it at Nanuet Diner. Stay as far away as you can. We have other good diners in Rockland.

Large portions of nasty food that my family and I were so disappointed in. If youre looking for an authentic Greek diner, this is not the place. We chose this place b/c it was near our hotel. We had to ask for our check 3 times and it still was not brought to us, even though our waitress repeated our request to us, "you want the check?" Finally, my son got up and walked to the cash register and told them he wanted to pay for the meal as they had to leave. Service was slow. Food was awful. Portions were large, but thats helpful when food is so bad. My husbands fried clams were overcooked, tough, and greasy. He couldnt finish them. My Manhattan Clam Chowder tasted like it had been dumped directly from a can. It certainly was not freshly made. My daughter-in-law & oldest granddaughter ordered French toast that had not been dipped in egg & milk - they were large thick slices of bread that had been cooked on the grill but were as dry as could be. Well never go back. I wish I could have rated this place lower than 1 star. We did find an authentic NY Greek diner which was excellent during our visit, though. It was so good that we went back the next day! Its the Airmont Diner in Airmont, NY - just a few miles to the west on Rt 59.

I actually used to be a big fan of this diner as they had one of the best Caesar salads I have ever had. It was about $15 but it came in a tortilla shell so it was worth it. Recently they stopped putting this salad in the tortilla shell. I ordered the Caesar salad a few weeks ago and was disappointed to find out that they no longer did this. When I received my salad it was less of a salad than they normally would serve and there were no croutons, eggs, or olives and yet somehow the salad was still $15. I decided to give them one more chance and ordered the salad again today. Apparently to add eggs it is extra however this used to be included as it was part of the salad. Again, I received a very small salad and no eggs which I was charged for. I am pretty much over this diner and will be going elsewhere. To have a small Caesar salad which includes nothing a Caesar salad would normally include for less than $15 is a little ridiculous. The only thing my "caesar" salad included was chicken, tomatoes, croutons and lettuce. So basically it is a regular salad with chicken for $15. I guess I cant expect much when ordering from a diner so I suppose I should just be happy that my salad included lettuce.

Ive been coming here with the wife for about 10 years... and Id say its not QUITE as good as it used to be. Yes, they did a small remodel, yes, the staff is very nice and helpful, but the food no longer is that great. This weekend for example, I got a garden salad with cajun chicken, was 9.99 + 2.99 for chicken. Thats a $13 salad... and I wasnt served a $13 salad. For that price, in Nanuet, I expect a much larger dish. Also, the food is inconsistent... and that is the worst in my book. Ive ordered salads and gotten them with 1 thing and then the next time an entirely different thing. Ive ordered the cajun chicken sandwich many times and a few times gotten it was 1 chicken breast instead of 2. My visit this weekend wasnt terrible, but probably enough for me not to come back for awhile. Dont get me wrong, its an easy place to go... but price to food wise, no longer the easiest choice in the area.

I have eaten breakfast here every day for the last two weeks. The food is excellent. The service does tend to be a bit slow. I did have a bad experience with a waiter (Manager?) yesterday 02/17 at 0530. Having been informed the day before that a small glass of juice was included in my meal, I repeated that understanding to my waiter and asked for a glass of cranberry juice. I enjoyed my meal and when I received the bill, I noticed a $3.50 charge for the juice. When I reminded the cashier of my understanding he and my waiter conversed loudly in front of me in a language I do not understand. When my waiter walked away from me without a word, the cashier handed me the bill and said juice was free only between 6-11 am and that the waiter refused to adjust the bill. I paid the bill under protest and remain very unhappy with their treatment of a regular customer.
