After a day at two of the areas excellent museums (the Museum of the Moving Image, and - very close to LIC Market - the PS1 MOMA - both worth your time)... ...and before a play by a local ensemble company (at The Secret Theater), this turned out to be an inspired dinner choice, not just "for the area," but period, compared to anywhere in the City. Good service (knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and at a good serving pace - especially if you look at the tiny kitchen everything comes out of), and wonderful to dine al fresco in the back after being locked inside for so many months... ...so good atmosphere/ambiance. And the inside looks fun and funky too. Innovative dishes - everything we tried had at least one or two exotic or unusual ingredients or treatments... ...so I dunno about you, but my "favorite food" is most often something (tasty) that Ive never tasted before, and every menu item we had qualified on that score. We started with a couple of good craft beers on the happy hour menu - the Blood Orange IPA from Long Island was excellent - then had two appetizers - the mushrooms and the prawns. Like all the dishes we had, the mix of flavors was complex, but never overpowered the food. Our entrees were the risotto... ...creamy and delicious.... ...and an OMG wonderful cod dish. Bonus tip: Order the country bread as a side, because its great for dipping up the sauces that came with our appetizers and my main dish. I will say that while I dont mind that the menu on the site was different than the one we were given - they rotate a small number of choices and fine - the dishes that were on the menu tonight were considerably more spendy than most online. Making it - just so you know - easy to spend a Ben Frank for two beers, two appetizers, two mains and two espressos. And making it a splurge for my budget at least. But a great place for a date or dinner with a long-time partner or friends. So one Id splurge on again, and happily recommend... ...both the cafe, and hanging out in the whole area in general - new to me - and theres def some interesting culture, architecture (old and new) off the main drags, with neighborhoods that have a classic feel thats both NY and unique in the boroughs, even compared to much of the rest of Queens.

LIC Market gets a lot of hype because its just about the only decent eatery in Western LIC. However, since its competition is few and far between over here, that doesnt say much. While LIC Market does use good quality ingredients, the lack of consistency, the terrible service, and the mediocre resulting fare is not worth it. Save your time and go elsewhere. Ok, if youre in desperate need of brunch and you happen to be on 44th Drive in LIC, and you dont want to eat a dirty bagel at the nearby delis, then I guess this is fine. But, as theres often a line, I personally would hop on the above head seven train (um, assuming its running, which it often isnt), and head into Manhattan. The cooks at LIC Market are working hard. The food comes out hot and fresh, unfortunately its frequently wrong. Weve gone several times now and theyve screwed up our order every time. Most recently for brunch, they brought the wrong food and the waitress tried to convince me it was the right item. I asked her to bring the menu and she continued to fight with me. To be clear: she wasnt saying I ordered wrong, she was saying the menu was wrong. Later when she brought the correct item she didnt apologize. When the food does arrive, it tastes good, not great. Nothing wrong with good food, but is it hype-worthy just because its a mile away from any other decent food? Any average Williamsburg eatery blows LIC Market out of the water. So perhaps try the G-train.

What a cool place for a drink or bite to eat! A couple of us had purchased the Queens Beer Book and stopped here to redeem our coupons for a beer. We sat at a table inside even though they had outdoor seating. We ordered a round of drink, a friend and I ordered the wine-erita which was malbec, tequila, and lime juice. It sounded better than it tasted even though it was nice and strong. For our beer selection, one of us ordered a Genneesee beer, my hubby tried a chocolate beer, I ordered the Abita strawberry beer, and another ordered an Allagash white. They were all pretty good, except my husband didnt like the chocolate beer so I switched with him. All in all, a nice place with a cool waiter.

This is the best restaurant in my neighborhood. It is tiny with a small bar in the front and a few cozy tables in the back. They dont take reservations so try to go early or a little later to secure your table. We have been here twice and got different menu each time in a matter of 3 months span. That means they keep their menu fresh and interesting. I really like their Burger. It is one of the best we have had. It is juicy, fatty and flavorful and a good size. I also really loved their pasta dish. It is small but very very rich. Their Octopus appetizer is small but also really flavorful. So is their Shrimp. We will surely be back for more surprises!

After a month of living in LIC, I finally made my way over here one night to see if it is worthy of all the hype. I have to say I was rather impressed and I am looking forward to places like these taking over the LIC food scene. The host was nice, gave us water while we waited and kept us updated on our seats. Servers here are very friendly and attentive. I ordered the burger which was excellent and my wife got the Spaghetti with chorizo and octopus, also excellent. For sides/appetizers we got chorizo with potatoes and Japanese turnips. FYI, the seating area here is small and they only serve beer and wine. Cant wait to go back here again!

Came here for the holy grail of meals- brunch! After a 25 minute wait while food watching other happy eaters, we were seated at the counter. Drinks were decent, $6 for a sake-type bellini or mimosa served in a small cup by the heavy-handed bartender. We thoroughly enjoyed the duck hash (of course!), brussel sprouts (this we absolutely devoured). BF got the dirty rice frittata which he enjoyed and I got something with eggs. Cant remember the name, but it was good. Sad but true, we did not get the bread basket that everyone spoke so highly of!!! Not sure if they ran out or this was merely an oversight.

I tried this place after searching for brunch options in the area. It came very highly rated but didnt live up to the hype (though I really hoped it would!) The good: decor, clean restrooms, ambiance, and not too long wait time. The bad: the hostess wasnt gracious or friendly (sorry dont want to make this a race thing but she was a lot friendlier to the couple ahead of us) and the food was good but portions were small for the price. Id say its worth trying to check out the hype. But I wont be coming back as there are places with nicer hosts and better food for the price!
