My Family came out to the Island to celebrate Dads birthday. I chose this place because its close to home and has gluten free options. As a mother of a child with allergies, its hard to dine out sometimes with a crowd. I am giving four stars because I had to leave early. My son was having a rough night. I didnt even get to eat. So why 4 stars you ask if I didnt even get to eat. . . Well from the time I walked in, from the valet, to the hostess to the server, they were all extremely patient, courteous and friendly. You have the dining out experience with a touch of a family type atmosphere if you will. The valet waited patiently while I took my son out of the car and offered to help with the stroller and bags. I didnt accept because it a one button closure. I decided to leave it anyway. The hostess came over while waiting in a little nook near the bar to ask if I needed a glass of water while I waited for my party to arrive. The server took the time to explain the wine by the glass to my inexperienced father and did not make him feel like a novis at all. This place is beautiful. From the entry with the large double doors, wood and metal chandeliers that add charm and a sort of rustic touch. There is a sitting room with a fire place. Feels like a good place for an after dinner cognac if thats your thing. Oh, as I was leaving, the hostess thought my little guy needed a diaper change and followed me out, offered to get two chairs for me to comfortably change him in the restroom. What great attention to detail. Stellar place. Excellent service. I cannot wait to return. Hope fully my little guy will have a better night and I will actually get to eat. Witg such great attention to detail in service, I can only imagine how good the food must be. P.S. I did hear the veal was amazing from my Dad. Try it.

I have dined at this restaurant several times and would always say the service experience was average to poor. However the décor is beautiful and its unique location kept me going back. Unfortunately today the unthinking, uncaring and possibly very poorly trained and misguided staff ruined what was supposed to be a special occasion for myself our guest and our family. We arrived at 3:20 pm after a half hour drive for an impromptu late brunch. We had an out of town guest. The restaurant was fairly empty and since it was 95 degrees and sunny we requested a table in the porch area under the fan. The hostess told us that was not possible since all the tables indoor and under the covered porch were already reserved. The hostess sat us "dockside" under the blasting sun. We ordered a simple lunch that took well over an hour to arrive. We were so uncomfortable we could not wait to leave .My daughter actually felt sick and did not eat preferring to be inside. As I left the restaurant I noticed that there was nobody except one couple siting in the covered area under the fan!! My daughter confirmed that most of the tables were empty the entire time we were there. Why would anyone be so abusive to their guests?? This is a pricey restaurant that wants to exude luxury and exclusivity. Someone needs to tell them that luxury is created when guests feel pampered and catered to. Not when they are mistreated and frankly abused.

If youre going to Prime, youre really just paying for the atmosphere. The food is alright but the restaurant itself is pretty nice, even the bathrooms! Certain tables in the restaurant offer an amazing view of the marina so I can see this place being pretty popular during the summertime, when outdoor seating is available. Our table of 8 arrived about 45 minutes late, due to traffic, but Prime was still able to accommodate us. To start, we decided to get a couple of sushi rolls for the table to share. We ordered the Montauk roll (spicy tuna, avocado, tempura crunch, topped with lobster, yuzu mayo, eel sauce), the starr roll (salmon, mango, tempura crunch, avocado, spicy mayo), and the triple spicy roll (spicy yellowtail, tuna, jalapeño, topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail). All of the rolls were great, and not even just for a steakhouse. The fish tasted fresh and their rolls were creative. But at around $18 per roll, thats pretty damn expensive! Not really worth it, IMO. For my entree, I opted for the prime steak sandwich (skirt steak, watercress, shaved red onion, whole grain mustard aioli, toasted roll). The steak was good, but the bread tasted a bit stale. I didnt even end up eating the bread but just ate the steak instead, so I might as well have just ordered the skirt steak. I dont live in the area so I doubt Ill be back, but Prime seems like it would be good for special occasions.

The location is right on long island sound. We sat on the pitch. But the seating was not elevate. Our view of the boats docked in Huntington harbor was strictly eye level only. The music was old rock and roll. Not appealing in my opinion for a restaurant with a price of approx $60 per person. We ordered the kale salad and crab cake appetizer. The kale salad was very fresh - no wilted kale, light balsamic vinaigrette, fresh strawberries, and a light dusting of feta cheese. The crab cake was handicapped by too much salt for my taste. On the other hand, the visual presentation of the crab cake left a lasting impression of a light fry. We followed the appetizers with a "Montauk" sushi roll - a combination of lobster, spicy tuna, a light wrapper of sushi rice and a light yozu mayo icing. The portion was adequate for two people. We also ordered broiled scallops with favs beans. The pronounced taste of the beans complimented the rather flat taste of the scallops. The service was top shelf. The waiter was knowledgeable and comfortable conversing with us. Summary: worth it if you can afford.

Ufortunately for us this was the last time I would go to prime...aside from the great food and great service I was treated very rudely by Maria the sommelier. I called prior to arriving on time (&still waited 45 min) bc I was wondering if we can bring our own bottle of wine since this was a special occasion..my daughters 30th bday. I was told by the sommelier Maria that they have an extensive wine list and that if the bottle was from 1920 they would say ok. But the other part was when Maria said my daughters birthday isnt special enough. I asked what would be a special occasion. She couldnt answer me. We still went and like I said the food was good my husband ordered a bottle of Medoc and was brought Maria came over and said I understand. No problem. What would u like instead. He said a Riois. She said ok. Ill be right back. Never to appear again....

My friends and I met at the bar (as weve done many times in the past) after work with the intention of having dinner at Prime during the work week. A glass of their "house white" that I ordered was $17.25!! When I questioned it, I was told that was the price and it was the only white wine they had at the bar. We enjoyed our one glass and went around the corner to Honu and feasted on a delicious surf and turf dinner ($25!) instead and ended up staying for dessert and drinks. Seriously, PRIME is not the kind of place to meet up with friends and have a few drinks when they play with the prices. I did not like the attitude, either. Added: When I called the restaurant a few days later and asked how much a glass of wine at the bar was, I was told $8-$10. I guess it depends on the bartender; if you go ASK FIRST or expect to be charged at whim.
