I have been going to 5 Burro Cafe since I was a young girl living in Kew Gardens. My mother was obsessed with their chicken soup-which was beautifully simple and tasted like home cooking from a Latin American/South American household. You would leave the place satiated but not engorged, slightly tipsy, and full of smoke. Fast forward to current-day older me. I brought my friend there, boasting about their margaritas and relaxed atmosphere. Got there right before their food service ended and just asked for chips and whatever salsa they may still have cause we arent inconsiderate people and we know the kitchen staff probably wanted to just go home. Of course the bartender said No and we were okay with that. Ten minutes later, I saw him bring food out to a group of men sitting by the bar. Snack food that certainly could not have taken more than 2 minutes to prepare-looked suspiciously like chips. But again, I thought nothing of it. It was pretty late. We ordered our drinks, which taste like moderately better margaritas than what you could get from some average, overly corn-syruped slushie machine. Again, I was disappointed but it was still better than other slushie machine margaritas so nothing worth crying over. I still found a way to enjoy it. Theres of course the possibility that my friend and I both ordered the wrong flavors. BUT, what upsets me to the point where I cannot begin to convey is how the owner/manager/middle-aged white and/or Latino-looking man posted up by the bar acting like a manager acted towards my friend when she approached him about a man who was menacing women at the bars jukebox. I cannot tolerate a managerial figure who sits idly by as a someone expresses concern about patrons safety. There was a large, tall, middle-aged white man with long hair and a bandana tied to his head walking around menacing females who tried to change the music playing from the jukebox. He visibly got upset and slightly irate when a group of Hispanic Latino people were playing reggaeton, pop latino, and some bachata. As soon as their last song finished he ran over to the jukebox and put enough money in there to play his preferred music-totally fine. Never mind you are one person in a bar full of people who were enjoying the other music but still its okay to be selfish when youre tipsy and want to hear your jams. I understand the feeling. However, when several different groups of females went to the jukebox to try to request a song, he would go over to them, raise his voice so he could be heard and inform them to not bother wasting their money, cause his music is going to play until the bar closes. They would recoil and hurriedly walk away because who wouldnt? And he did this only to the females who went to jukebox, not the males. So, not to be deterred by bullying, I went to request a song. And this man thought it would be acceptable to approach me and smugly deliver the same line about his music playing until the end of the night. I replied that what he was doing was called menacing and I wanted him to remove himself from my presence immediately as kindly as I could because truthfully, I realized he was too drunk and could possibly hurt someone. He scoffed and told me no matter how much money you put in there, it wont change the music. As though I never told him to back off.

If I could, Id give it negative stars! We went to the one in Holtsville for GNO and had cold food, no drinks (couldnt even get water) and in some cases some of us didnt get our food, a nasty waitress and over billed. The only good thing about being there was the girls getting together. It was such bad service and food that after we left, some of us went to the restaurant next door to get food and drinks I would not recommend this place to anyone. The kitchen help couldnt produce decent food, the service was so bad that the manager originally took $40 off the bill but the billing was so screwed up they had to do it again and then put the $40 back on and put all the orders on the new bill whether the food came out or not and also added the dishes that were billed separately. We were there at least a half hour trying to get the billing straight all because the waitress said it was too hard to give people separate checks after we thought we were getting them. I could go on and on on how bad this place was run. Ive been to a lot of places but this is number 1 on never, ever go there again. Shame on the managers and chain for not having enough trained and caring staff, especially for advertising and promoting National Margarita Day and not being able to provide decent service.

I ordered online and my husband went to pick up the food. It was cinco de mayo and we had people over and we all really love otb! Unfortunately when my husband came home with the food the order was missing food we paid for. We order the family combo which has 5 tacos and 5 enchiladas. Our order contained 1 taco and 1 enchilada. I know what you are thinking... why didnt my husband just check the food before he left, right? We ordered a bunch of other stuff too, remember we had people over, so he looked quickly at the large bag counted 4 containers 2 bags of chips and was on his way. When he got home we opened the food and saw what we were missing, I called 3 times- it was cinco de mayo so the dj was pumping in the restaurant maybe they couldnt hear the phone. I spoke to 3 people first a hostess, then the employee who was the cashier, and 8 minutes later the manager. The manager was pleasant. He asked if my husband could come back to get the rest of our order, and he did. Our house is a 16 minute drive one way and we did not expect to have to go there twice in one day. All in all they made the food and our order was corrected. I think for web orders, otb should do what Texas Roadhouse does and go over the order with you before you leave.

Ive been here a few times, but the last time we ate here was horrible. Before ordering we had asked how much it would be for certain drinks since its not listed on the menu. She told us, and we ordered. Pon getting the bill we realized each drink was at least $3 more than we were told. In addition to that, we had sent back a meal because it was wrong, which wasnt taken off the bill AND we were charged for an extra soda we never ordered. After telling our waitress this, she first argued with us that the meal was taken off the bill (even though it clearly wasnt), than agreed we were right and took the meal off. At that point we just accepted that we were paying for the extra soda and an extra $6 for the two alcoholic drinks. We decided not to leave a tip at this point because of the horrible service and our waitress actually had the balls to ask "did you forget something?" Probably wont be returning here.

My family and I went here on a Tuesday night at 8:00pm. We were seated right away and did have a very friendly waiter. Unfortunatly they were extreamly understaffed and we waited for our food more than an our. Our waiter was new and was never trained on how to actually wait on tables. He was extreamly apologetic and informed us that two of the cooks walked out that night and the managers were actually in the back cooking. Food was not impressive and managers didnt even comeout to explain the situation or to apologize for anything. This place needs to get its act together fast or it will soon be another upcoming resturante.
