Dinner at The INN SPOT ON THE BAY in Hampton Bays...soon to be renamed the House of the Lazy Chef... The place has a great location and youd think since its right next store to Cor-Js seafood they would use fish straight off the boat...but alas, no. First off we were 15 minutes early for our 9pm reservation, and they seated us 45 minutes late. So, by 10 pm, here we were, my wife and I seated at an oddly unbalanced table for 6 with four empty seats. Of course, the fish of the day was sold out, so we ordered off the standard menu. Bread...nope. They dont really do that. First course...fried oysters in croissant...which were in fact mini hockey pucks wrapped in Pillsbury crescent roll dough. On to the main course..Seafood pot pie! Billed as a melange of heaping lobster, crab, scallops etc and $28, it was truly akin to a can of campells new england clam chowder and a sheet of Pepperidge Farm puff pastry. It came to the table warmed but far from piping hot. In the end, the people are nice enough but the tab was $235 with a bottle of wine. So much potential, but so little effort. Give it a miss, and keep heading east.

Went to the Inn Spot by the Bay with my boyfriend for a weekend stay in the Hamptons. Got set up in one of their cute and romantic villas. First thing we noticed was the amazing view of the sunset that you could see from their back deck and lawn. When we view we knew we had to have dinner there one night of our stay. Glad we did because dinner was awesome. First we split the Oysters Sampler which had six oysters-two of each of their featured times of oysters. For dinner my boyfriend got the duck that was served with a marshmallow sauce that I was nervous about at first because I am not big on marshmallow but it complimented the duck perfectly. I had the seafood pot pie which was great and loaded with seafood. We left full and very impressed. We are planning on going to their International Dinner night next week and are sure that we will be impressed again with their service and food!

Our family has enjoyed Pam and Colettes efforts for about 20 years. Pam does the brunch effort in the kitchen while cheffe Collette handles dinners. I cant argue that its pricey, though comparable with other Hamptons restaurants. The kindness, willingness to accommodate special diet needs (with delicious imagination in the kitchen), combined with the wonderful view have kept us returning when we are in town. It takes time to prepare things fresh, and like many fine chefs today, they pick veggies/herbs from their garden for use in the recipes. Theyve come a long way from just breakfasts at the old Inn Spot! Congratulations for perseverance and innovative approach to their business. Its not fast food, but Dining at the bay...wish more places out east approached food to at least this standard.

Beautiful spot on the water. This is one of the few places that says they have waterfront views that actually does have waterfront views. The owner was pleasant and helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean and cozy. Lovely spot with great sea breezes. This places quality is not reflected on its website at all. In fact, I almost didnt book here because the website is so dated and unresponsive. This was a surprise, as the Inn and restaurant themselves are so modern and accommodating. A places website is the first thing that people see and so keeping it updated is very important in accurately conveying what a business has to offer.

The bisque came out cold. The $32 pot pie was inedible. Consistency of elmers glue & no seafood in sight. My daughter& I both had an order. The staff never asked how our meal was& didnt notice our barely touched entrees. The noise of the chairs & the horrible music couldnt even be leveraged by the beautiful views. & never recd my beer.

The breakfast is AMAZING and so are the panoramic views of the Bay. Be sure to order up a Bloody Shame to go with your brunch.
