Ive only been living in the Sunset Beach area for about 4 months and I work in the Southport area. One of my favorite Americanized Chinese dishes is Sweet and Sour Chicken. However, the thing that makes this dish special is when bell peppers, onions, and pineapple are cooked with the chicken. Ive visited 6 different Chinese Restaurants in Southport and Sunset Beach/Calabash area and the only one that provides these goodies with the S&S Chicken is Golden City. In addition, the vegetables and pineapple come in big uneven chunks, so they are most likely fresh. Ive visited three times now (each time trying a different entrée). The food has always been good. The only downside is that on two of the occasions I waited for a long period to be seated (not because it was too busy, but because there was not a host/hostess at the entrance area). On my last visit, the people behind me were seated a few minutes after I was seated, however, their food arrived at their table in a normal amount of time. By the time I got my food, their party had already finished their food. On the positive side, the staff has always been very friendly. In summary, Golden City makes delicious fresh foods, but you may have to wait a bit to enjoy them.

We have been so thrilled since this place opened in our area. FINALLY! GOOD SUSHI!! Weve had many great experiences with takeout. They are so accommodating and willing to prepare large orders late at night. My reasoning for 4 stars vs 5 is that I went here for lunch with my mom and placed a small order because we only had 45 minutes to eat. We told our server this when we sat down and ordered immediately. There were only about 5-7 tables in there, 2 of which sat down just before we did. Not sure what happened, but we ended up having to get our food to go and it still took them 15 minutes after we needed to leave to get our food out. I ordered 1 spicy tuna roll and some egg drop soup and mom ordered something similar. Definitely not a complicated order. Once I was finally able to eat it, it was GROSS! I hope that they were just having an off-day, but Ive been too scared to try it again.

I usually take out food from here being a single person on the run. I live in Calabash now for 12 yrs from North Jersey/NYC area. I was so excited when I first stepped thru their doors! Totally redecorated, super Asian Fusion Restaurant, and what a chef!! Cooks with real vegetables, crisp and you can ask to modify spicyness on those type of dishes. Thai, Sushi, Speciality chef dishes, as well as Chinese food. Always large portions, so be prepared for leftovers! Everything super fresh! No way is this your typical boring Chinese food! Get yourself to this place ASAP! You wont be sorry! So happy to have a NYC style Asian Fusion Restaurant move here!

Horrible experience. We were seated immediately, where we spent most of our time waiting to place our order and waiting for our food to arrive ( we ordered nothing complicated and only 3 other booths were filled in the entire place). The order wasnt correct, and the waitress ( the only one staffed at the time) took our waters to refill and never brought them back. When she said our orders were going to be corrected, they werent. The place had awful service and wasnt clean. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. If your going to spend that much on Chinese food, take my word for it and go elsewhere!

The food is delicious. We have eaten here at least 10 times, yes, it is that good. Staff is very welcoming and chef will go out of his way to "tweak" your food anyway you request. You get lots of food on the dinner menu, enough for a lunch the next day. I get the shrimp and cashews, OMG, so many nice size shrimp (that are clean). Prices are fabulous! I have no clue why someone would not give this restaurant a high rating. Trust me, you will not be sorry.

This restaurant was excellent all around. Theread was hardly any wait time between being seated and someone taking our order. They were warm and welcoming and explained the menu when we had a question. The food was excellent and the prices were just right. I would recommend going when you get the chance. It would be a great place for a date.

Food was delicious but wait on opening night very lengthy. Staffing not sufficient but people very nice. Unfortunately some people left prior to service because of the wait time. They dont know what they missed. Would recommend giving them another try.

Finally, GREAT Asian food in Calabash! Weve eaten here several times now and tried new dishes every time. Everything weve tried has exceeded our expectations. Food is really fresh with great flavor. Highly recommend giving them a try!

Great menu, chinese, thai, sushi. I had bento box: kung-Pao shrimp, ginger salad, 6 spicy tuna sushi. Very good portion and variety. Excellent taste.
