French Louie was easily one of the best meals I ate during my ten days in NYC. It was a recommendation from the owner of Free Range Wine & Spirits (another great spot in Brooklyn). I was able to get a reservation via Open Table which always makes things much easier. We actually arrived a bit late and they were gracious and accommodating. They offer a reasonable corkage fee which allowed us to bring a bottle of wine with us. Upon sitting down one of the waitresses stopped by and said that a bottle of wine shouldnt stay unopened. Her approach was charming. The menu is a collection of bistro style French food. We started with the octopus which was cooked to perfection. It was perfect start to the meal. For the main course I went with lamb and fries. The seasoning and temperature of the meat was exceptional. Our only bit of unhappiness was the food expediter. He was gruff and gave off an attitude of indifference. Not that it ruined the meal, but it put a damper on what could have been a phenomenal experience. If we were local, I would have actually made the effort to complain to the owner. With that said this restaurant is a bright star in Brooklyn.

7/2/17 - brunch again and ordered the burger and the crab benedict. Decent burger, but I enjoyed the benedict more even though its less food. Good times. ***original review*** We had the french toast creme brulee, the cordon blue chicken, and the socca. My review is going to be biased because were long-time friends of the chef for brunch and hes one of the happiest-go-lucky kind of guys I know and it shows in his food, so kudos to that. The staff was also super patient with us considering we stayed for about 5-6 hours drinking, but luckily there was always a table available for the next customer, otherwise, we would have been that table. If you can make brunch reservations, go for it because we had a 30+ minute wait so you can tell its a popular local spot. Familys also also welcome and accommodated well with large tables. The interior is warm and well done and the back gets a lot of direct sunlight. You cant speak poorly of the staff as they are all extremely nice. Well go back to try dinner and get brunch again since there were a few other things on the menu that we want to try.

The menu is interesting, full of primarily traditional French cuisine options, and the service is kind and polite. That said, our appetizers took just short of half an hour to appear, and while the small, expensive dishes were tasty, they fell far short of overwhelming. The music inside was unnecessarily loud, and the music chosen to play was more than a little weird-- we even heard some what sounded to be American country, which seemed especially out of place. They have a very nice patio setup and the staff is great, but for our next meal in Brooklyn,at the price they charge, Ill probably be looking elsewhere.

Resturant Week 2017 I came here for dinner and got the three course restaurant week menu. I found the space simply beautiful, the patio in particular caught my eye with all of the greenery in the middle of the reclaimed industrial space which made for a good contrast. The food was good I got the smoked mussels (get bread on the side), the merguez pasta and the panna cotta. The produce was really fresh and the heirloom tomatoes are being grown on site. I recommend coming here with your eyes wide open as to really appreciate the little details of the space. The staff is nice and warm as well

The most delightful experience for our anniversary dinner with our daughter. I made a reservation on Open Table and asked for the patio. We arrived and they put us outside in their beautiful garden. As a surprise, they brought us 3 glasses of champagne! The food was perfect! Highly recommend the chicken liver pate- great bread with it- toasted! I had pappardelle with peas and veal- delicious. My husband had seared tuna- outstanding! My daughter had skillet chicken - crispy and with a yummy sauce. Great time, great food, great service

Really great service, romantic ambiance, and great food. We were able to get a table for 2 without a reservation on a Saturday night. Decor is rather basic, but lots of candles and low lighting made up for most of that. Food was generally well executed, however the grilled bread served with the chicken pâté was burnt around the edges. The scallop ceviche was very good. The coconut ice cream was obviously made with desiccated shredded coconut which seems a bit lazy. Overall very good, could have been better.

Lovely garden area for nice weather. Our server was superb. We went on a busy Friday night and the food was a little slow coming out but it really didnt bother us given the surroundings. I will mention that the inside seating area was VERY loud. Excellent appetizers. Husband recommended the rabbit cassoulet (which was NOT traditional but still very good). I had the hangar steak which was moist and perfectly done (I asked for medium rare) and the fries were great.

Delicious and charming restaurant. The ambience is easy going, not stuffy and given the quality of the food, the prices are reasonable. When its nice out, the spacious back patio is perfect and makes you easily forget that youre on one of the busiest streets in Brooklyn. Theyre less crowded on the weekend for brunch and have great brunch cocktails.

We decided to try the Sunday Brunch, and it was a bad move. The woman at the door today had a major attitude when we simply asked how long she thought the wait me be. If you have a problem with answering such a question, you might be in the wrong business. There are WAY too many other good restaurants in the neighborhood to deal with such crap.

A fabulous restaurant located on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn. Just want you would expect want from a french bistro, and service was excellent. I have the special which was delicious and cheese for dessert. I will return here when I am in the area, and would seriously consider commuting from Manhattan to have dinner here.

Like another reviewer said before, way too many tables so of course it is very hard to hold a conversation with having the person youre with repeat themselves. Other than that the setting is great, perfect lighting with great food selection. Service is on point with the price just right for a Brooklyn restaurant.

I had the burger and it was good. I ordered it rare and they did a good job, even though the waiter said they normally make it normal. The fries were OK, too salty (should have asked before adding salt for me). The service was really friendly. The place too loud for my taste, there are just too many tables.

Nice garden patio area in the back. Makes you feel like youre not in NY. The menu offers interesting takes on some of the more unusual French recipes you wont find elsewhere. Portions were surprisingly large, but there was no sacrifice on quality. All in all, it was a great place for lunch.

Fabulous food, kid friendly. I love the brunches but the goat cheese and mushroom scramble is very salty. The Louie Benedict, cauliflower soup, summer melon tomato gazpacho, French fries, and creme brulee French toast are wonderful. You can never go wrong with the pastry of the day
