I recommend Becco Fino as a low key neighborhood restaurant serving generous portions of homestyle, not necessarily homemade, Italian food. The staff was friendly and accomodating. We called ahead Monday night to see if our party of six would have a long wait since no reservations are taken. The staff immediately pushed two tables together and had set them up for us by the time we arrived. Two appetizer orders of mussels and calamari were substantial enough for all six of us to share. Mussels fra diavolo were tasty, calamari was bland and doughy, not crispy. For entree, I had a hearty cappelini with sausage and broccoli rabe that did not disappoint. Others tried the nights special of short rib stuffed ravioli that was intriguing and reportedly good. I was disappointed that they were not homemade, but "brought in". I could not finish my huge entree, so I took it home. My glass of Chianti was poured generously. I sipped a decaf cappuccino while my table mates enjoyed decadent looking chocolate lava cake and peach sorbet in a frozen peach that I am sure was also "brought in". Checkered tablecloths and bare brick walls simply decorated with a large mirror create a bistro ambience, but the twinkle Christmas lighting strung from the ceiling was just annoying. Management should replace with brighter string lights so patrons dont have to use their cell phone flashlights to read the menu.

We live in the neighbourhood, so we were regulars at this place. Unfortunately, untill on my birthday we went there, when an old lady who works at the bar showed a very bad attitude when I asked her about the wine that weve ordered. Apparently, she was counting money at the time and my simple question seemed to bother her. Next, she brought the wines and smashed it on the table where part of spilled all over table. She made it looked like nothing happened. I asked her about the person in charge so I could talk. She said she was in charge and didnt bother to apologize for her incompitent behavior. So we walked out and never returned since then and probably never will. (Unless she stoppes working there) And we told all our friends in neighbourhood too. P.s. Waitresess and food are very good. My advise to the old and misrable lady at the bar; if you dont know how to handle the pressure and customers, this clear isnt the place for you.

Great food! Good service. We used to go at least 3 times a month for about 2 years. We stopped when we realized that despite the fact that wed spent upwards of a thousand dollars there throughout the years, and the staff knew us, never once did they offer us a dessert, a cup of coffee on the house.... a "thanks for choosing us"....never. Then we saw that they would do this for others though. So, that said, there are literally thousands of restaurants in NY, we figured we should try some others that appreciated our patronage. Nowadays, we go maybe twice a year.

The food is great! My husband and I go here all the time, however the service is horrible! Not once have we gone to this place and have been happy about our service. We went there last night and i just got so fed up I had to write a review. It took the waitress 20minutes to bring us our sodas, the appetizers came before the sodas. she did not check on us once, and i had to get her attention for refills and for the check. She seemed annoyed when I was asking her for more sodas. They should do something about the service here!

love it. Their Risotto is of the chain. They mix it up every week so you will not have to eat the same every week. very small restaurant serving Italian comfort food at a very reasonable prices and very good amount of food. sits about 12 small tables but a few are large for 6 people. come early as it gets packed quickly.

Probably one of the best restaurants in Riverdale. Classic red sauce Italian dishes with a few modern offerings as well. Start with the Caesar salad, its outstanding! Then try one of their dinner specials, and have the toasted almond cake for dessert. Locally, you will not do better.

Service was impeccable! I ordered the pan seared pork chop and hands down one of the best pork chop dishes Ive had. Everything on my plate was downright delicioso, even the Cajun calamari appetizer. Cant wait to dine there again!

The food is great. The service could be better, but not horrible by any means. Place is small, but decor is very warm and works well. Popular evenings may result in a long wait. I would definitely recommend.

Always hit this spot when we visit our daughter at the College of Mount St Vincent. Good prices, excellent food, service may seem slow but we are NEVER hurried., Love this place.

We have lived in Riverdale 11 years and this is the best and most consistent food in the area. It can get busy and service slows but still it is the best choice in N. Riverdale.
