When I tell you I would never give this restaurant business again... Its an understatement!!! I used to get take out all the time and never sat down in the actual restaurant... Today... Valentines day, mom of three decided to take her kids out as a valentines day treat. I had to ask 4 people for a fork for my daughter. As Im watching people leave the owner and other wait staff are giving out roses to women and Young girls... Now I have 2 young girls and one Lil boy who is 4. They totally disregarded my children who are mixed children and the way they interacted with the white children was totally different. The food was OK but I should have originally went with my first idea to go to the hibachi restaurant on 111. And based on the service that is provided is how I tip...if Im spending money at your establishment I should not feel uncomfortable the way I did... I do not tolerate racist people especially when it comes to my children!!!! So they received a 5dollar tip from me that the owner continued to stare at... I would have loved for him to ask what was wrong so I could do what I would have loved to do and give him a piece of my mind...but instead I thanked him and so did my polite mixed children but that it be the last of them seeing us...take out included!!!! So annoyed

The rudest waitresses Ive ever seen, sub-par food, and on my last visit, they actually had flies around the sushi bar. There is literally no reason to go to a restaurant this poor, For hibachi food there is the far-superior Kumo a little down the street, and for sushi and other food Mitsuo and Aji 53, also both on the same street, are way better, have much more professional staff and Ive never seen vermin. Avoid Sumou, go to a much better place, youll only be disappointed here.

Never had the hibachi here but go for sushi all the time. Great selection of special rolls and sushi appetizer dishes. Ive found the sushi always to be fresh. Very reasonably priced in comparison to everywhere else in the area. Dining area is spaciously comfortable and nicely decorated and the staff are superb. Everyone Ive ever brought here says they feel at home. Been to all the sushi places in the area and sumo is still the favorite.

My family and I just ordered sushi to go. We loved it.. fast service and the woman at the counter seemed pleasant. I would def. order from here again. I dont sit inside because my son is 5 and people go to restaurants to get away from kids..(LOL) Tokyo Roll was awesome, Duck roll my husband loved.. said it was like a great piece of chicken.. and the Dragon roll is my favorite!!

Great food. New hibachi table is nice but we prefer the sushi bar! Lots of unique sushi styles, I always ask whats great and they are very knowledgeable and excited for you to taste something yummy! Try the garlic soft shell crab appetizer they should be famous for it!!!

Hibachi grill was very entertaining. The servers are polite and the chef was very engaging. The food was also good and sushi was delicious. The only bad thing was the was the wait. We were the only people in the restaurant in the morning but it still took awhile.

I loved this place I ate here for over 5 years. Today my takeout order came with no soy sauce, and my sons girlfriend found a hair in her sushi. I spent $154 for 6 people and they gave me 3 chopsticks. Goodbye, I will never buy from here again. Peter Sampogna

I didnt like how when I had went with a big party that it took them 50 minutes to give me only my appetizers now that is very bad service. Also it took them 25 minutes to deliver my drinks that were bottled not fountain, but the food is very delicious

this restaurant has great sushi. Great staff and service. The downside is bugs, had a big spider making its way down from the ceiling down to our table. The proprietors should not overlook this issue, makes you wonder how clean the restaurant is.

Amazing for seafood lovers !! , definitely recommend for beginners to try out .. California roll ,good time roll , and the spicey girl roll . Theres many sushi places but this one is amazing everything fresh !! So worth it !

Stripmall sushi. The hibatchi looks fun, the sushi was bland and odd tasting. The food was not impressive. For longislanders who have many choices for sushi, your better off travelling the extra 10 minutes for real sushi.

Took my family for hibachi which was decent, but also had some sushi. Sushi was so not fresh, it was one of the worst I had. Wouldnt go back there ever for fresh sushi/sashimi, but may go back for hibachi only.

I use to eat here a lot. The service is starting to go and we ordered a bento box with salmon which looked liked a kid size portion. I ate in a few months ago and didnt feel welcomed at all. To bad.

Place smells like fish, service was horrific and when we were finally served(hour after being seated)we told them to wrap it up so we took it home took one sniff and threw it in garbage!!!
